They consistently messed up my pizza ... For a while this was only pizza place with a decent crust . They messed up my pizza every time.... The last time it literally looked like they just threw everything on my pizza and even used the hot chili sauce instead of marinara for the base sauce on my pizza... It was ridiculous. Never going there again, not worth the price.
My favorite place to eat, crust is amazing.
They grab toppings from dedicated freezer in the back of the store. As long as they understand that you have celiac and need to be this careful, you will be fine. Love this place.
They changed their crust awhile back and now the GF pizza is outstanding!! I just hope they play with making other foods GF, like the calzones.
Great place to grab GF pizza and drinks. Pizza tastes good to me. I was told the GF pizzas are prepared in a separate area, but pretty sure they go in the same oven on a metal pan (mine was on top rack), if that matters to you. GF beer and cider available.
The pizza really wasn't bad--it's just that it's pre-cooked, so you'll usually either get undercooked toppings or an overcooked crust. The crust was both dry and sponge-y; paired with barely-melted cheese, very little sauce, and warm toppings (we got the Supreme, I think), it was not very tasty. I had it again at work a little while later. This time I requested the one with the pesto swirl; I think it's called Cosmic Karma? Not sure, but it was much tastier. The strong flavor of the pesto helped mask the blandness of the crust, and it helped that I wasn't missing HOT tomato sauce. It's worth trying.
Honestly, my gluten-free pizza was gross AND it made me sick. Not worth it.
Great GF pizza! Finding a parking spot can be a bit of a hassle, but the GF pizza and the service are worth it.
This place is absolutely amazing! I placed a to go order and they said 35-40 minutes. I had a small emergency on my way so it took me over an hour. Pizza was cold upon my arrival. Not only did they remake my pizza they also apologized I had to wait 9 minutes when I got there. Will definitely be my only place for pizza. It's delicious, I never get sick and they care about their customers!
I typically love Mellow Mushroom. I've eaten at two locations in Louisville many times with no issue. However, I noticed this location dropped their gf insert on their menu (was in every menu) and I definitely got glutened when I ordered the gf pizza. I will go back, I think it was one bad experience, but exercise diligence.
We eat here about once or twice a month and I never get sick. I've eaten the pizza and the wings, delicious! They even substitute the celery for carrots for me with the wings. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free. My son was eating normal pizza with my husband and contaminated my water, the waitress was super nice and grabbed me a completely new drink with no fuss! Fantastic customer service!
Delicious gluten-free pizza with many topping options!! My daughters loved!!! Our waitress Sam was great too!
They have really great pizza! I eat at the one on Veterans Blvd more often with no problem. Ate here, the location on oak, yesterday for lunch and woke up today feeling pretty sick. I'm assuming it's from possible cross contamination. So those with Celiac's be careful!
No offense, but this place was a joke for the price. My teenager has Celiac's. Pizza wasn't that great and for $22+ it wasn't worth the rest of our meals to sit through. She said it compared to Udi's frozen. Our bill for a family of 4 was right around $120+ with appetizers and drinks, not including tip. None of us finished our food due to taste. My 7 year old wanted just cheese pizza and it came on garlic bread, which she hates and was not advertised as that on children's menu. Our service was the other issue. It took TWO HOURS and most of the time we were flagging our waitress asking her for things versus her anticipating need: drinks, plates picked up, orders placed and not yet received. We all got our meals at different times. We were on patio, therefore out of mind out of sight, I guess. This place is not worth the $$$.
I have been here several times, and my rating is an average of all of the visits. This location has a small, dedicated space that they use to prepare the pizzas. I have never gotten sick from the pizzas. The gluten free pizzas are really good if they are served just out of the oven. (The gluten free pizzas typically come out at a very different time than other pizzas at your table.) If the gluten free pizza is rushed/"flown"due to a mistake or a possible contamination issue, the pizza is not very good.
Definitely a hit or miss type of place. The actually care they take in preventing contamination seems to depend on how busy the restaurant is. And it's super expensive for a thin, crusty pizza.
Extremely pleased! We ordered take out -!My non gf son ordered a small pizza and I ordered the gf veg pizza. When we picked up the pizza left w a large and small box/ my son said the large was mine... Couldn't be, he must've missed heard.... Nope! He was right the gf was the bigger pizza! Thin crust but larger diameter than you typical gf. I'm eating it now, and it tastes delicious. I feel 99.9% confident this is safe for Celiacs- of course I'll modify this post if anything changes tonight!
We had dinner here tonight. We have eaten at many Mellow Mushrooms in different states and never had an issue. We ordered two gluten free pizzas (cheese and house special). They were both wonderful and our celiac daughter had no issues and didn't get sick. We dined with some friends who aren't gluten free and our pizzas were brought out separate from their food. Will eat at this location again.
One of the best GF pizza crusts I've had. The menu explains how they prepare their GF pizza, so it lets you feel safe. They also have GF beer & delicious salads. We came here twice in two days because no other GF-friendly place was open for lunch.
Unfortunately, as a Celiac, I cannot recommend this specific Mellow. First time I ate here, I was sick before leaving the restaurant. Second time around, sick halfway home. Both times, I specified that I had Celiac, and asked if it would be prepped and cooked safely. I was assured it would be. My digestive tract says otherwise. The Raleigh MM, however, I've had zero issue with (to date).
I have eaten their twice without any problems. I always get a salad since I cannot have any grains at all. Staff has been knowledgeable and helpful. My kids have eaten their GFDF pizza with their vegan cheese and really enjoyed it without problems despite previous reviews on here. I suspect they have made positive changes based on previous feedback. Not the safest location for those who are most sensitive but it is a workable option.
