I have a gluten allergy and have eaten here several times. So far, I have not had any cross contamination. As far as the quality of the food goes, it is wonderful! For artisan pizza, this is my go-to place. Absolutely would recommend to anyone. I am also lactose intolerant and they have vegan cheese. This gives them a double thumbs up in my book.
I tried it several times and got contaminated every time. I quit trying.
Our family has fined here many times, however the last visit we were glutened from cross contamination. Beware.
I've got to admit, Mellow Mushroom has the absolute best options in gluten free pizza that you could ask for. With a dedicated oven, and separate ingredients, the chances of cross contamination are extremely low. And it is exceptional. But, you truly do pay for the privilege. $43.41 for nothing but two specialty 12" pizzas. It was amazing, but when we were done, my family looked at each other and said, "well that was a tasty appetizer, what's the second course?" If you want amazing gf pizza and are down with the hippy vibe AND are willing to shell out uber bucks fit it, by all means - go! For me, it will need to be but the rare indulgence.
Always good and haven't had any issues. It's nice to know that I can eat at any location and be safe.
Great gluten free pizza
If your in the mood for pizza, this is the place to go for GF. Dedicated working space and toppings. GF beer available as well. Enjoying their pizza tonight!
We've ordered g-f here probably a dozen times, including take out, with no problems. They have a separate prep area and seem to understand cross contamination concerns. About the same price as other pizza joints, but a much better experience and quality.
Staff Very aware of GF issues. Wonderful pizza!
Slightly annoying when you clearly can't have gluten and the waitress suggests hummus dip and substitute the bread for celery sticks but still brings the dip out with bread stacked on top of it.
Great pizza joint with gluten free options
while I think they may have tried harder than most to make a gluten free pizza I'm far too sick for this to be considered gluten free. the food was also pretty expensive for being a pizza joint. $15 for 4 slices of pizza is a pretty spendy poison.
I go here all the time. I used to be in love with their gf pizza until they changed the crust size from a medium to a small. I never got sick from the pizza; however, one time I felt glutened after eating an order of wings (though they tried to argue with me that they didn’t think that was possible, which was very annoying🙄). Overall, a good place for tasty gf pizza and drinks. It can get very busy during rush hour.
As usual, my experiences with mellow mushroom never fail to disappoint. I love them and I have never gotten sick
Only gf pizza available is a small 10 inch for which they charge an additional $2. Base is quite heavy and hard. Only starter available was hummus with carrot and celery sticks. New server and kitchen staff were not clued up on gf options but the server did try to be as helpful as possible
The pizza here is good but as all gluten-free food, a bit pricey. They don’t have very many choices for gluten free though, and the pizza crust isn’t very good. I would say that if you want pizza and needed something to eat quickly, this would be the place to go. I wasn’t affected by this restaurant but then again I only have an intolerance to gluten and am not celiac. This place may not be safe for celiacs,so be careful.
Had a delicious GF pizza! very knowledgeable and accommodating.
I don’t have Celiacs. However some severe stomach issues recently had my doctor put me on the low fodmap diet. So this is the second time that I have ordered food here since making this life style change. I have to cut out many things but in pizza I have to watch gluten, certain toppings, onion and garlic. So I ordered my gluten free pizza with olive oil not tomato sauce because every sauce has garlic or it says spices. My pizza comes with sauce which I didn’t check because last time it didn’t. I didn’t realize there was sauce on it right away because I can have tomatoes and had added them to my pizza. I decided to call them back to investigate whether I just ate garlic. They put the manager on the phone. When the manager came on he said there was no garlic in their sauce and put me on hold to confirm. Well it turns out that it doesn’t say garlic it says spices. The reason I’m upset is because when he didn’t see garlic he kept saying you will be okay, and you won’t get sick. He kept repeating it. I finally said “Look you don’t know if there was garlic on the pizza, because you don’t what spices means, but regardless I didn’t ask for sauce, I’m not going end up in the hospital or try sue are anything crazy if there was but you can’t be sure there wasn’t. I won’t no until tomorrow if there was garlic and you have no idea how my body will respond to it if there was garlic, please stop acting as if you did nothing wrong.” Thankfully he didn’t say anything else about how my body would respond. Mistakes happen but to then try to brush it off like it was nothing is frustrating. They remade my pizza correctly and ended up giving my husband a gift certificate for the cost. However if there was garlic I’m not sure what will happen it took over 6 weeks of detox to stop my stomach pain and I’m not sure how much or little will negatively affect it now. Be careful with what you order and expect them to make excuses if they mess it up.
I ate here on Friday for lunch. I let them know I’m celiac and the waiter assured me they were very familiar with CC protocol etc. my stomach started hurting within 1/2 hour of eating :( I am pretty non-symptomatic usually so was surprised that i felt this way right after eating the pizza. Seems their procedures weren’t safe enough 😢
We ordered two gf pizzas. When the order came up our waitress told us the kitchen suspected cross contamination. She apologized and said they were making new pizzas. The manager offered to comp an appetizer. The pizzas were great and the server was on top of it all.
I have ordered from Mellow Mushroom several times. The first time I ate their pizza, I became ill (about a year ago). Since I have had much improved experiences. I do well with their white pizza. I try to stay away from meat choices other than Pepperoni. They do not guarantee Celiac safe food.
GF pizza looked amazing, but it turned out the crust had a burnt flavor to it and it was very dark. Everyone knows GF crust are temperamental and very easy to burn. When I mentioned to the server that it looked fabulous but it was a bit burnt they immediately made me a new one and assured me they wanted me to have a perfect Pizza today. I'm incredibly psyched! Manager Matt did an awesome job as did server Justin. Kudos. Highly recommend...!
I didn’t get sick, and I usually absolutely love Mellow Mushroom for gluten free pizza, but this location was mediocre at best. The food was gross, and service was okayish (for some reason we had 3 different servers, and I think the first might have been drunk????) I love Mellow Mushroom and had never had a bad experience before this one. Would recommend the chain, but definitely not this location. There’s a good gluten free bakery (Rise) literally one minute away—go there instead.
Nice people, nice menu and healthier choices than most, unfortunately the guys behind the counter who prepare the pizzas DO NOT ALWAYS FOLLOW PROCEDURE given them by the company to insure gluten free. Eaten the pizza several times, but last time I got sick, and if you’re allergic to gluten like I am, you know when you’ve been burned. Managers are unable to make sure workers use the process in place. Eat at your own risk.
This was my first visit here and my first time using my Nima Sensor. I spoke with the server about their preparation practices, which seemed excellent. I ordered the Mighty Meaty GF pie. I tried to gather a sample for the Nima that had a majority of the ingredients. Nima found no gluten. The pizza was excellent and I had no I'll effects afterwards. This seems to be a very safe place for celiac. I will return.
They grill the buns on the same flat iron as the burgers, so if they’re out of GF dough, you’re pretty much out of luck. They do have Angry Orchard cider on tap though.
Ordered the gf pizza, which was delicious, but whomever handled the pizza was not very careful with contamination. I got sick the next day. I was so disappointed because I loved this place before my diagnosis and was hoping to enjoy it again. Not this time.
They have less topping options for the GF pizza. Garlic is listed in the menu as a non GF option as some other toppings which it was a bummer. Also, the crust was hard and didn't taste much like anything, it was just dry. Good news is I didn't get sick! They do have a dedicated side in the kitchen just for GF food preparation, I was informed. But unfortunately not a good tasting GF pizza.
Was my favorite until they decided to nix the plans for the one in Hendersonville, TN (just a few miles from downtown Nashville) to build a second in Nashville. When there was only one in Nashville, I dealt with walking 1/2 mile from parking to restaurant, expensive prices (gladly paid to have servers and cooks trained about celiac disease), and driving over 20 miles to get to that location. Will never eat at Mellow Mushroom again. Recently in Destin, FL. Drove to Ciao Bella (excellent food) rather than set foot inside another Mellow Mushroom. Would always eat at the one in Bowling Green when we were there, Gatlinburg when we were there, etc. Many people were disappointed when they decided not to build in Hendersonville. It's all about the $$$. More money to be made in downtown Nashville than a few miles out in another city of only 60,000 people. One star because it is the least I can give.
As of August 1, 2017, all locations changed the size of their GF pizzas. The ONLY size you can order now is a very small personal pizza - what I would describe as a kid's pizza. Despite this change, my pizza was nearly $16, plus an additional $4 for vegan cheese. Although the pizza is tasty, I don't know anyone who would be ok paying these prices for a teeny tiny pizza. Very disappointing.
