Mellow Mushroom

I’ve eaten here twice and have been glutened both times with gf pizza. One time they told my friend a soup was gluten free that actually had flour in it and he ended up vomiting all over there bathroom. Terrible all around.

I had the Veg Out Pizza with GF crust and the GF Brownie. I’m pretty sensitive to cross contamination and had no problems. Very good and will go back.

The gf pizza is pretty good (though takes forever). Service leaves a lot to be desired.

Excellent pizza and the waiter knew to tell the kitchen it was for someone with celiac to assure no cross contamination.

Mellow Mushroom is a franchise pizza chain with ~170 restaurants. The one we visited in Virginia Beach is on 33rd street pretty much on the beach. Nice. They have a dedicated gluten free space in the kitchen as well as a separate oven. Staff was knowledgeable. They offer 4 10" pizzas gluten free. Pretty much the 4 options you'd think they'd be. I had the Meaty Mighty with too much meat and it came on a metal plate, which is a handy way to keep pizzas from picking up any flour elsewhere in the kitchen. Pizza crust was OK, but I haven't found any good gf pizza crust yet, and so was the pizza. My wife enjoyed her gluttony bruscetta and pizza. I felt comfortable that they were giving it a serious try, even though it's hard to imagine pizza places ever being perfectly gluten free.

Great gluten free pizza, especially from a chain. They only have a few pizzas that can be made certified gluten free in an area with separate toppings from the non-gf pizzas.

They offer a gluten free crust and many pizzas can be made gluten free. Server was very nice and knowledgeable. They claim that they take precautions to to ensure there is no cross contamination. The pizza was delicious and I felt very comfortable eating there! Overall 10/10 experience and I will be returning!

Terrible. I’ve eaten at many Mellow Mushrooms, they are a family fav for us celiacs but today my daughter and I are both ill after eating that this location last night. Such a shame…
