Menu is marked very well with what is safe for celiac, gluten free, and what can be modified. Pork belly and shrimp and grits were amazing. Tried a so-so brownie dessert in a jar, but there wasn't much brownie in it. Seems like the menu changes or is different than what is online. Will definitely be back to try more!
The dinner options are better than the lunch options. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and it arrived with a gluten FULL bun. The waitress realized before I took a bite. I had cut it in half before they took it away. She returned moments later with the same chicken and toppings in a gf bun! That's complete cross-contamination! I had to tell them they needed to remake it all. She put the knife I had cut it with on top of the salad plate I was eating—cut the amount of the salad I could eat in half from the cross-contamination of the knife, and she never even realized it. Not a great experience.
So many options! We started with the gf version of their kale Caesar. It may not look all the fancy but the anchovy vinaigrette and candied garlic pieces in it totally knocked the flavor out of the park. My husband LOVED the gf lamb poutine (entry sized) and I had their delicious bison burger (on a nice-for-gf bun but too crumbly for me to love), with all sorts of phenomenal things on it! We were too full for dessert but our options included gf sweet potato donuts, a gf (oat and almond crust) chèvre cheesecake, and a gf crème brûlée! We would definitively frequent this place if we are in the vicinity.
Amazing GF grits and brussel sprout. A good variety of ales. Knowledgeable staff and great food.
Appreciate that menu designates between gluten free and celiac. Staff were also very knowlegeable. The fish n chips not celiac, only GF. But still plenty of good options to choose from. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Lawrence.
Loved this restaurant. Had the fish and chips. The sauce made the meal. The fish did not have a lot of flavor with the gluten free crust but with the sauce it was great. I was just excited to have it. Some of the dishes were great too. My gluten family loved the food also. They had great options for gluten and vegan and many other restricted diets. I would go again. Not sure why it had three dollar signs. I thought the prices were reasonable. Fish and chips was 12.
Merchant's now designates Celiac and Celiac-Friendly on their menu, going well beyond their original Gluten-free designations. (The Celiac-Friendly designation means they can alter the recipe.) The staff get the issues; they understand that a gluten-free dish in a shared fryer is a no-go. AND the food is fantastic...local and seasonal. There is something for every diet here.
This place is amazing! The Macaroni and Cheesemonger was sensational and gluten free! This is my favorite gf dish of all time! It's only an 8 hour drive from home to go get more. Get this with the bacon and pork belly. Can I get this Fed-Ex ed? Yum!
Very knowledgable, friendly, and lots of options including berry cobbler! Gluten free!
The selection is great and they prepare modifications to accomodate various allergies. The options are awesome and delicious.
Menu clearly indicates GF items! Food was delicious
Local and fresh produce, menus clearly designate which dishes are gf, df and/or vegan and great service of great food. At last a really good restaurant you won't regret taking out of town guests to! This from a person who has been gluten free longer than most of their servers have been alive!
They have a fantastic selection of gluten free menu items, many which do not need to be modified. The menu is clearly marked and the food is delicious. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese and it was so good I thought they made a mistake. We both have Celiac and neither one of us had any problems.
This was awesome! The servers were well-versed in gluten allergy. The food was very good. I'm very picky, having just moved from Houston where there are hundreds of incredible restaurants. This was top notch.
Amazing food! They have a great menu for all dietary restrictions and allergies.
