The waiter seemed very knowledgeable but kept going back and forth on what was gf or not. I got the enchiladas and the avocado and cucumber salad. I tested the enchiladas and nima came back with a smile. I didn’t feel or get sick.
But, my dad (also celiac) ordered a meat platter special and it came out w the fried potatoes that the waiter said was not in a dedicated fryer before ordering the meal. He took it back and 10 minutes later ended up saying that the pork belly had a “little bit” of gluten on it and that he’s taking that off the plate as well. He chased us full price for a meal that had half of what it was supposed to.
Really good food but on the spendy side. Not a ton of GF options but the ones available were very good and server was very knowledgeable and helpful in talking through the menu. I had the roasted chicken and it was amazing! One of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. I feel confident they take things seriously.
Great restaurant! The Mai Tai was awesome! Has some kind of pineapple foam on top. I had the chicken because the waiter recommended it. Normally I would never choose chicken eating out because I make it so much at home but I am so glad that I listened to the waiter. THE BEST CHICKEN I HAVE EVER HAD! I substituted the potatoes and got brown rice instead due to possible contamination issue with cooking methods.
They were very careful and helped me choose what would be safe for me. I did not get sick from eating there. When we first arrived they brought up the fact that I had celiac because they actually read and remembered from my online reservation that I had mentioned that. It made me happy to hear the waiter talk about cross-contamination because that showed me that he knew what that was.
It was good, but not as good as Haleiwa Joe's and it cost a lot more. The cocktails weren't very good. Definitely not worth $14 each. I had the special, which was crawfish risotto with Mahi mahi. It was naturally gf so no modifications were required, except to use cc precautions. I didn't get sick, and I'm a sensitive celiac. It was tasty. We made a reservation and showed a photo of our Covid vaccination cards and our ID and wore masks until our food and drinks came. For dessert, I went down the block and had Lin's Snack Foods Shave Ice for $3 after a walk on the beach.
Menu was not marked but our server was knowledgeable about what was / could be made gluten free. Unfortunately, many gluten free dishes involved removing elements, but what I had was safe & good. They also brought us homemade vanilla ice cream at the end of the meal, which was the highlight!
Went here twice in one day! Stumbled upon it for lunch and ate at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation. I had the filet mignon with rice and green beans, which they were able to do gluten and dairy free. It was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a while and I’m a pretty big steak eater. Couldn’t find another place for dinner without a reservation on a Saturday night so came back and was able to be seated outside despite no reservation. I had the iron skillet chicken with Yukon gold potatoes and mushrooms. So flavorful and delicious. The wait staff was knowledgeable and double checked with the chef if they were uncertain. Would highly recommend. My non-GF husband enjoyed the food very much too!
This restaurant was recommended to me by a local. The restaurant has a really nice modern romantic but casual atmosphere. I ordered the fish ceviche which way is fish with coconut milk, scallions, served with uala chips. Waitress described it to me as a Polynesian type ceviche oh, it had a really good and unique flavor. I also ordered the street prawns which was served over greens. The prawns were cooked to perfection and well flavored. I loved the mixed fruit punch which was pineapple, orange, and cranberry juice. We didn't have a reservation so our choices were to sit outside or sit at the bar due to the heat we decided to sit at the bar. The service at the bar was outstanding, super friendly and helpful. All of the staff were knowledgeable of what was gluten free, and if they didn't know they quickly went to the back to double-check.The food here is moderately priced. They do have a parking area in the back near the loading dock. They also tap on a 2% service charge for the kitchen staff.
This is a super nice place. It’s a beautiful location and the food was so good. My waitress was super knowledgeable about celiac, my food was marked. They had many options for straight GF, and could accommodate many dishes to make them (eg a gnocchi, with shrimp and scallops and takeout gnocchi).
I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi, with scallion rice and charred broccoli, and the HIRABARA FARMS BEET SALAD (sub dressing for GF option). It was absolutely delicious. They had many GF dessert options and desserts that could be made GF. We had the LILIKOI POT DE CRÉME
Tropical fruit relish, Tahitian vanilla bean whipped cream (normally served with white chocolate crumble which was removed for me).
It was nice to be able to go somewhere where people had awareness and experience with celiac.
