We stopped here as the bar was closing and staff was super helpful. Food was great
I'm sorry I have to go against the grain here, because the hostess and server were both very helpful and knowledgeable about celiac disease. But the server disclosed to me that it's a small kitchen and said it was difficult to recommend something that wouldn't be cross-contaminated. He said my best bet was the chicken souvlaki but he didn't seem very sure. I ran two Nima tests (I know this is controversial but I trust the results and my sampling skills) and they both came up gluten found.
I recently dined at a restaurant that truly understands the importance of catering to those with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. The experience was exceptional from start to finish.
The staff at this restaurant demonstrated a deep understanding of the difference between celiac disease and gluten intolerance, which is crucial for anyone with these dietary concerns. They were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive and accommodating.
When I mentioned my gluten intolerance, the server was quick to explain the restaurant's gluten-free offerings and the precautions they take to prevent cross-contamination. They assured me that their gluten-free options were prepared in a separate area to minimize any risks.
Not only did the staff show their expertise in handling gluten-related dietary needs, but the food itself was outstanding. I had the pleasure of trying several gluten-free dishes, and each one was delicious and safe for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
In addition to the scrumptious food, the atmosphere and service were top-notch. It's evident that the entire team is committed to providing a worry-free dining experience for those with gluten restrictions. This restaurant has set a high standard for what it means to offer true gluten-free options and educate their staff about celiac disease and gluten intolerance.
If you or someone you know has these dietary concerns, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for a safe and delightful dining experience. They've earned my trust and my gratitude for their dedication to accommodating gluten-free diners.
Lots of gluten free options. Great food and no reaction afterwards.
I came here for lunch and don’t have a good experience. The staff paid little attention to me and my friend, my questions about the menu were a little dismissed, and the food was okay. The ground sirloin in the damathez was under seasoned- and while the watermelon feta salad was good and the display was beautiful it was hard to eat as none of the components were actually cut up. To make matters worse I had a reaction a little bit after we left. I will probably not be back.
Ate here twice on my visit to SD. Gluten free items are clearly marked in the menu. I had the Greek soup and Greek tacos on my first visit. Taste was ok on the soup, chicken was a little dry and tasted like canned chicken. The chicken taco was great! Beef taco had an odd flavor to the seasoning that I didn't like. Second time, I had the chicken souvlaki plate which came with rice and fresh crisp tender asparagus. It was delicious! And, I finished BOTH meals with the baklava cheesecake, so yummy! I did not get sick from either meal. Highly recommend!
Ordered the grilled filet and grilled chicken kabobs, octopus, and the Greek salad. The food was excellent and I never became sick afterwards. Our server had celiac as well and advised me not to order the fried lemon potatoes (marked gluten-free on the menu) due to him becoming ill after eating them so I would advise to be cautious if considering ordering a fried item from this facility.
Main menu is clearly marked with GF items, however, if you are also dairy free that eliminates a lot of choices. Server made several attempts to find something I could eat but since it was Sunday night most of their meats were marinated in dairy already. He said sometimes they have meat in the back that hasn’t been yet. I had octopus and grape leaves and they were yummy!
I got a variety of foods, including the watermelon feta salad, shrimp ouzo, and Meze fries. I loved the watermelon feta salad personally, but my FAVORITE was the Meze fries. The garlic was AMAZING with the fries.
This is Greek style food. They do not have a GF menu, but can tell you what is GF. I had the fries - GF fryer! Good fries, too. Also had the falafel- very tasty. Served with tahini as well as a spicy sauce that was yummy- never had anything like it served with falafel before. Just visiting San Diego, but I will definitely go back next time I am here.
Dec 2016 update: this restaurant moved, is now in 6th and no longer has a gf fryer.
I don't know why this is listed on find me gluten free. I e-mailed them and they don't offer any sort of gluten free food or prepare food in a safe celiac manor.
Not sure why it says dedicated fryer because they don't and have no idea what celiac is
