A fair amount of gluten free options for both seafood and salads and sides. Salmon, shrimp, and scallops were excellent. Fun environment.

I have eaten here a number of times and never had an issue. There are a number of gluten free options available although they are not listed on the menu. Staff is knowledgeable and has made sure the kitchen is aware.

I had no issues finding GF options here. I ordered the seared scallops, mashed potatoes and green beans (vegetable of the day). The scallops melted in my mouth. The sides were good, but not my favorite preparation style. I didn’t have any reactions after dinner.

Our waiter (Dave) was awesome. He filled me in on GF options as well. Got a burger with a GF bun and Cole slaw. Both were great! I had no reaction (I am not celiac, but am highly intolerant).

I have eaten here once before but recently in eating here i got extremely sick. Unfortunately, even though i asked the waitress twice when she brought the food out to ensure it was gluten free i still ended up extremely sick. Got the crab dip and salmon with mashed potatoes.

Amazing! This place came recommended and it delivered! Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. There isn’t a GF menu but most items are GF. I suggest the fish and grits!!! Best I’ve ever had. The GF pita was excellent and my son had a GF bun with his burger that was very good! I did not get sick from anything I ate either. We will be back!

Staff was knowledgeable! Many items were gluten free, however there is no separate menu. Delicious salmon with scampi butter! Also had coleslaw and garlic mashed potatoes as sides. It also sounded like their tater tots are gluten free as they do not fry anything, only bake.

Michael’s was great for my celiac husband. Our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was delicious!! We had the crab dip with the gluten free bread they have and wow, amazing! For our entree, we shared the galley sampler with shrimp, scallops, piece of tuna, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts! It was a perfect seafood spot - highly recommend!

We came here because of the reviews— some were not great but others were fabulous. We had a great experience. My son and I have Celiac. We obviously don’t eat anything gluten. The place was pretty crowded and my husband and I decided to get a drink while we waited. The waitress behind the bar was fabulous. We wound up sitting at the bar (for faster service) with our kids. It was just like sitting at a table but with people moving in front of you- family friendly. Since we were at the bar we were able to talk to one of the bartenders and really get to know the place. She was extremely aware of Celiac and said they have maybe 4 items that can’t be GF. She made sure all our items were GF and even told us the brand of the roll we were getting. I felt very comfortable in the restaurant, she even told us how the are taught about GF and it is something that the restaurant prides themselves in knowing. We all had delicious meals of seafood, crab dip and pasta. Would definitely go there again.

The seafood is excellent, as are the sides (try the mushroom risotto!). The staff was knowledgeable, and our waiter had a list of items which were NOT gluten free. They have gluten free bread, although we did not order it. They also have a gluten free version of their chowder, but it was only available frozen for taking home. We loved the place enough that we came back a second time during our vacation. We will definitely eat here whenever we are in the area!

My food was good, the waiter was knowledgeable about gluten. My gluten eating wife had a bad experience. Under cooked fish, cold sides. They replaced her meal with a properly cooked and warm one

After reading reviews on here we decided to give this place a try. Despite them not being super busy (it was an early lunch) we waited a long time for service, but we had high hopes after asking about GF options. The tots were baked, they have GF buns and pita. So we ordered crab dip (came out with gf pita and was enjoyed by all), the tacos and tots, and the tuna blt. Our food was delivered with gluten shells and buns, and when we double checked they were hesitant. They were wrong, but corrected it. I’m not sure if I trust the food.

The had gf pita bread to go with the crab dip which is as really good. Said they had gf seafood chowder available (not listed on menu) but did not order. Had the tuna BLT with gf bread with homemade French tartar sauce which was lovely.

This was my first time eating out out of town since I found out about my celiac diagnosis. The waitress was fantastic and immediately showed me what was gf and what wasn’t. When I had a question about a side she went back and double checked for me. I had their blue crab flat bread and it was AMAZING!! My husband (who is not gf) could not taste a difference in the food. Highly highly recommend if you are any where near Carolina beach

We ordered broiled shrimp which was only one of a few gf items on their menus. There is no gf menu available. They did offer a gluten free bun for the hamburgers. They do not have baked potatoes. The server was kind and knowledgeable about the choices avaiable.
Awesome experience! Best, safest meal I had at Carolina Beach! Staff was knowledgeable and no reaction! Enjoy this place! We will be back
Yes
95% of the menu they say is gluten free and I believe all or most all sides are GF. Server was very aware and said owners or chef's wife has Celiac so they know what they are doing. The seafood we had for dinner was great. Recommend this place if you're around!
Yes
We chose this location based on other great reviews. I was surprised that there wasn’t a GF menu, and the hostess seemed annoyed when I asked. She spouted out all the things my celiac granddaughter couldn’t have. Once seated our waiter was much more patient with explaining the menu. There still did not seem to be a lot of choices that were kid friendly. We ended up ordering a cheeseburger for her. I guess with all the hype and rave reviews I expected more. They are very proud of the fact that the chefs’s wife had celiac.
Yes
Celiac safe. The owner’s wife has celiac so the staff is very knowledgeable about safe options. Had a great dinner and everyone enjoyed.
Yes
Awesome Seafood Restaurant in Carolina Beach. GF items are clearly marked and there are plenty to choose from. I had the fish tacos and they were incredible! Make sure you tell the server you are GF, bc they change they way the fish is prepared. Added bonus-they have a shuttle and will pick you up and drop you off, perfect if you are enjoying some cocktails!!!
Yes
Love Michaels , always been one of my favs!!!! More GF options than before, now I can have my favorite flatbread again! Thank you Michael’s for caring ❤
Yes
Great food! Server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options.

Delicious. More than 90% of the menu can be gluten free. If you want chowder, call ahead and they are happy to accommodate.
Yes
Delicious and Celiac safe! The chef's wife has Celiac, so all staff is aware. 95% of items on menu are gf!! Shrimp and grits are terrific!
Yes
Very accommodating and serious about gluten allergies. Let them know you're Celiac and they take very serious precautions. The chef's wife has Celiac. Burger was great.
Head chef's wife has celiacs, so over 90% of the menu is already gluten free, or can be prepared that way. :).
Our server was knowledgeable and accommodating. The other three members of our party enjoyed their meals--my son's tuna was picture perfect medium rare. Alas, my flounder was dry. From a gf point of view, however, this place is tops.

Very knowledgeable and had no problems

Our waiter was knowledgeable of gf needs and cross contamination issues. He said the chef's wife has celiac. Ordered the crab legs and steamed shrimp. They steamed it without any seasoning which made it taste bland. We were comfortable with the level of knowledge here.
My family and I love Michaels. We go about once a month and if family or friends come to town we bring them here. The food is delicious and their service is so impressive. The gluten free options are great and the staff are very knowledgable.

90% of the Normal Menu is gluten free or can be made gluten free, excellent seafood!

Menu was almost too big, but only provided the headline. Needed to review the what's from the main menu. My son and I had the sampler with shrimp, scallops, and catch. Tuna and flounder very good. Classy look and very reasonable in price.
They do have a separate gluten free menu which has plenty of options. Our server was wonderful, friendly, helpful. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. The food was okay. We got a cheezy shrimp & corn chip dip appetizer which was good. Spinach salad was good. I think the main entree could have been cooked better. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. I ordered a baked mahi maji with steamed veggies and rice.
