Review of Mikaku Restaurant

Very impressed. Knowledgeable about gluten-free requirements, great service, and great food. If you're looking for gluten-free Japanese food in the Financial District or Union Square area, Mikaku is the place.

In addition to providing separate gluten-free menus, they understand that it's a health issue for some of us. (A number of other "gf-friendly" restaurants in the Financial District seem to see it more as a dietary fad and aren't informed.) Our waiter was great. He answered my questions without any hesitation or "I'll have to check with the chef" - stuff that often makes me leery that the restaurant truly understands gluten-free needs.

The food was terrific and fresh (sushi and teriyaki). Service was prompt, attentive without being intrusive, informed, and pleasant.
