We chose this restaurant because it had a Gluten free Menu. My husband has Celiac. He ordered a broiled haddock sandwich. He still became sick. We almost didn't make it back to our hotel. Very disappointed

Great spot in Wells for a delicious dinner with a variety of options. Had broiled haddock with delicious squash and potato.

Been coming to Mikes for years but this is my first visit since my celiac diagnosis 3 years ago. Happy they have a separate gluten free menu with several choices. Good for kids too.

I used to order from these folks all the time for the past two summers, due to their GF menu, but unfortunately now they will not accommodate a dairy allergy. For example, if you asked them to make you steamed, plain vegetables, they’ll tell you they can’t which I don’t understand as they always did this in the past.

Separate gluten free menu, so that at least tells me they are knowledgeable about it. Food is good. Seafood, steak, typical GF menu. Wait staff was great. Nice outdoor area to eat, with a musicians playing. Though it was packed and we ate inside. Don’t let all the cars in the parking lot scare you off, we came right in and were seated with no wait.

Waitress was very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Immediately told me she was going to let the cooks know it was a gluten allergy and I saw her write it a few times on the slip.
Started with a shrimp cocktail, waitress was unsure about the cocktail sauce and was mindful to put it on the side in case it wasn’t GF. Got a burger (gf bun!) and a loaded baked potato.

We ordered takeout from there Saturday. I ordered something from their gluten free menu. We get home open the bag and I have some other food item that wasn't gluten free and we were missing some things. I called them and went back down. They gave me my steak in a container with French fries! I said um are those fries gluten free. Of course they weren't. It took 3 tries to get my food right and I still got sick! While they may be able to handle gluten free option when it isn't their busy season clearly they can't now. Nothing marked staff not knowledgeable. They should NOT offer a gluten free menu!

Good food options, great precaution with allergies, but a little pricy during the summer season. We love their off season menu and visit occasionally during the summer. It's usually a very busy place during the season so it also helps to call ahead.

Gluten free items on menu, in 11 years never any problems with cross contamination. Lobster stew, steak, baked potato, cider and wine. They also have gf burgers etc..
Yes
Friendly staff. Gluten free options clearly labeled on menu with a good amount of choices. Oddly have French fries that are coated so had to get a baked potato. Accommodated my request for for a side of broiled scallops rather than fried though

My boyfriend and I were in Wells for a week and ate at Mike's Clam Shack twice. Their menu is clearly marked with over 30 GF options, lobster stew...GF rolls for a lobster roll(or any other sandwich), salads, meats, chicken and of course broiled seafood & Lobster. There are several appetizers and side dishes available for gluten free as well. The place is busy, but both times we did not have to wait for a table, the service is very good and the food is great!

I give it a one star for location only. We've driven by the restaurants 1000 times. Finally stopped in. I ordered baked haddock. I said I'm celiac so please let chef know no bread crumbs etc. the waiter brought my food (45 minutes later) and it was stuffed with breadcrumbs and then sitting on top of them. Also the steak had hair in it and the lobster barely had meat. I can't recommend.

Stopped in on way home from biz trip. Menu clearly marked GF. Waitress very helpful. Lobster stew was delicious - buttery and full of lobster. Gf bun for my burger and substituted veggies for the non-gf fries.
Yes
Restaurant gets two stars, waitress gets negative 5 stars. She had no patience for GF, annoyed at questions. When we asked about GF salad dressing she said "I don't know, you tell me." We were like, huh? Then my wife went to the bathroom and heard her complaining to the other waitresses about being asked about whether something is GF. They do note GF items on the menu but the wait staff really doesn't know anything about it. This was our third time eating there or so - same deal each time not knowing much, but this waitress rude and clueless. Food's ok, not worth waiting an hour for.

Gluten free options are marked on the regular menu. There are some decent options available.
Although the waitress didn't know to much the menu was listed with a variety of items that were gluten free, and I could have altered things as well, they made sure my salad came with no crotons and was freshly made. I got the Cajun broiled haddock with a veggie side and it was very yummy.
Yes
I ordered lobster and had a baked potato with it. Everything was very good. There were some other choices, mostly non-seafood. Everything is marked on the menu.
Over cooked-- over oiled fish. Steamers were ok. The wait wasn't worth it. The quality wasn't there. The salad had boiled chicken with grill marks. Lots of iceberg lettuce.
The waiter served my GF steak with breaded onion rongs on it!!!
