Separate GF menu. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and careful with your food. My one complaint would be that having eaten here often before my Dx, the GF menu is extremely limited and boring compared to the main menu. Seems like it would be too hard to make some of the other options GF with some slight modifications.
We eat here often with my celiac teen. She has never had a reaction. This is one of the few places where a celiac can get GF Asian food. However, they are rigid about not modifying items on the regular menu for a gluten free diner (even when the hostess has suggested that modifications may be made to make an item GF). Although there are quite a few choices on the GF menu, my daughter has tried most of them and would like to have a bit more variety. Still, it is good to have a place to go where she feels comfortable eating.
eaten here several times and also at both roseville locations. these guys take allergies very seriously, have gluten free soy sauce as well and a dedicated GF menu. Unfortunately most of the GF prepared sauces have corn starch so i have to skip those. never gotten sick here. wish restaurants would stop putting corn in everything though.
6/17/16 Great experience! They have a separate gluten free menu and were very knowledgable from hostess to waitress. Even though California roles usually use surimi (artificial crab with wheat in it), they swapped it out for real crab (for a charge but nice to have options!). My 7 year old son who is severely gluten intolerance was so pleased! We had GF chicken teriyaki, sushi, miso soup & GF soy sauce (I was prepared though & brought my own packets). A little spendy but it's a resort town and Living GF is also more expensive. We had a great experience my son didn't have any symptoms.
Ordered chirashi (which is just sashimi over rice) and what arrived was a regular chirashi dish with the warning that some pieces may have gluten. I had ordered the exact same dish at Taro's in Arden and at Mikuni's midtown where they removed everything that potentially had gluten. Seems they are not as knowledgable at this location.
I am very sensitive Celiac and I had no issues here! Staff was very good about keeping everything separate. The GF sushi rolls were the best I have ever had! They even put a little toothpick that said gluten free in our sushi to make sure it was safe! Will be back here very soon!
My husband is a very sensitive celiac. We eat here at lest once sometimes twice a week and know that the staff and managers have him completely taken care of. It's so nice to actually have a place to go where I am confident he can eat what he wants off of their awesome GF menu and walk away happy and not sick!
GF menu is expensive and bland. Most other sushi restaurants will make whatever maki you desire with GF soy sauce (without any breading of course), but for some reason Mikuni doesn't like to do. The fish is always fresh. It's ridiculously loud inside, so we only go when the weather permits us to eat outside.
This location is great and apparently someone with Celiac works there (that's how my waitress knew the watermelon liquor used in the watermelon mojitos was GF!), which I find reassuring. Also, the miso soup is now GF (!), and the GF menu changed and they took off one of the veggie rolls, but they still make it (the avokyu -sp?- roll). When in doubt just ask your waiter!
We ate here recently while staying in the Village at Northstar. The sashimi and rolls were great and not terribly expensive - especially for the area. They have a gluten free menu with several rolls to chose from and have GF soy sauce available. They also do take out if you are staying in one of the nearby condos and don't feel like going out after a long day. Things have obviously changed since the last review posted here in 2011 because we had a great experience.
Staff not knowledgeable at all but were willing to ask to get the information. Not many GF free options, but it was nice to have sushi and the baby green salad was great. Mikuni was my absolute fav sushi restaurant before being diagnosed gluten sensitivity so I am hoping they start to train staff better and develop more GF options.
They offer a separate gluten free menu including rolls, salads, and chicken, fish and steak. i had a spring mix salad with a very tasty gluten free dressing, and the salmon with gluten free teriyaki and rice....nice big portion and tasted amazing...had enough for lunch the next day :) .... staff was not very knowledgeable about gluten free products or menu but they were still friendly and found out the info needed.
At an expensive and crowded ski resort. Free parking hard to get. Valet parking $ 40! Expensive restaurant. Served us gluten free soy sauce in an old gluten-containing soy sauce bottle, causing us to have to ask about it. Manager sent email saying they will change that policy.
