They have a menu labeled as “celiac menu!” We shared some chips with queso. The chips had amazing flavor! I had the fried catfish and pork carnitas tacos. The catfish taco was hands down the best taco that I’ve had since being diagnosed! And I have to mention the incredible architecture of this place. Highly recommend!
They have a “Celiac Menu” with all gluten free items listed. I felt very comfortable eating here. Just FYI - they do put ingredients not on the menu in some foods. We ordered a queso dip and it was COVERED in cilantro and green onions, which we were not a fan of. If it had been in menu we would have asked for it to be removed. Excellent option for gluten free, but I’d ask your server about garnishes or “hidden” ingredients unrelated to GF.
It is not often I run across food I will simply not eat because I love food. I ordered the chop salad with shrimp on it. The shrimp tasted like it was cooked in a dirty sock and made the whole salad taste that way. I was so disappointed because they had a menu that said “celiac menu”. The potential was there. Maybe another choice would be good there?
For me it was celiac friendly and dairy allergy friendly, would’ve given 5 stars but after I started eating my meal the manager comes and tells me sorry for the mix up......I had no idea there was a mixup with MY FOOD but thankfully i still did not get sick. The celiac menu is small and place is pricey ($3 for a bottle coke, $9 for guacamole and chips)
Loved it! They staff was fantastic. Our son enjoyed his gluten free tacos. Note: the staff made a particular point of calling the food 'celiac'. The chips were made in a separate fryer and arrived piping hot. Great drink selection too. The only down side no GF desserts.
Prices were a little more than I thought they should be for the small portion size, but they have a 'celiac' menu and I didn't get sick! I got a salad, but it was small, and the chicken was very bland. Drinks were also small. Everything was good though.
They specifically asked me if I was celiac in order to make sure the meal was safe for me. The manager made sure to check in and tell me that they take all allergies very seriously, including celiac. The menu selection isn't huge but everything is amazing! All of the servers bringing out the food make sure to say that it is celiac safe when it is delivered. Loved it!
Worst experience ever! I was belittled by the staff asked by three different people if I was celiac. Basically their dedicated fryer was down or ran out of grease and they didn't fill it or something. The waiter (after asking if I was celiac) began to tell me that the catfish tacos, and anything with chips was off the table. That literally took me down to two items I could order from their gf menu. (I don't eat pork or beef, I realize this isn't their fault) I order the chicken tacos, my husband gets a burrito and my mother gets the catfish tacos I had wanted but was not allowed because they were now glutenous. Out comes the food runner with our plates... All two of them! Yes my gf chicken tacos were plated with my mothers gluten laced fish tacos. I then informed the runner that my tacos were gf and the fish ones weren't. Her response was "are you celiac?" Then she proceeded to argue my allergy with me and never offered to bring me new non contaminated tacos. Then the manager (with my server peering over her shoulder) came to ask if everything was ok. I began to tell her the story, she the said "Are you celiac?" I lost it. I was like "look, I get violently ill I don't have to eat here. I just don't want to get sick and the waiter was informed of this and steered me away from the cross contaminated items" She was nice and apologized, brought me out two new tacos. Yes the issue was because the fryer was down and I had bad luck. My main problem was the "Are you celiac?" Asked snootily to me three different times. I don't feel like I should have to explain my bowel movements with the entire restaurant. It's difficult enough living like this. The last thing you want is someone questioning your allergy or sensitivity. I've never felt more humiliated.
Update! Have dedicated fryer and celiac specific menu. They are amazing there!! Unfortunately I have to change my review. They still have great food but they no longer have a dedicated GF fryer. The churros are now fried with the chips and fish. My mom has had a reaction unfortunately. It would be great if at least the chips could be made in a dedicated fryer. It was amazing to be able to get fried fish but we can find other tacos that are still really good. Minero was one of our weekly stapes and with 3 in the family having celiac it was amazing to have somewhere we didn't really have to worry.
WOW what a find! Coming back tomorrow for lunch. We loved the fried catfish tacos, charcoal grilled chicken wings, Mexican street corn, and shrimp and masa grits. It is so nice to have a full menu to choose from instead of just a couple of items. Ask for Sam, she was great help since we are dairy free too.
