Called before going and was told burgers have option of gluten free buns and gf pizza crusts, nothing else was mentioned. Felt man on phone was rushed and didn’t care. Went two hours later and waitress was wonderful! Explained I have celiac and requested the “little shaft” burger with gf bun and baked potato. Food came quickly and gf bun was very good. If I have a reaction it’s nearly immediately and no issues at all. Asked waitress after meal about the gf pizza crust and she stated they can explain the situation and have a clean pizza pan used for it to be sent through the grill. We have a function there this coming week and will try the pizza. She stated the kitchen staff is great about being careful and so far no issues. I will report back on my gf pizza next week. Unsure on safety all around due to only going once so far so only gave a one star rating, I’ve raised my rating to 2 since I’ve been here and no issues. I’ve had zero issues with the gf pizza. I’ve had it three times since my first report and each time I ask for a clean pizza pan, cutter and towel when they bring it out.

The waitress knew someone with celiac who eats at mineshaft. When I asked questions about safe foods. I was given the response I don’t know but my friend eats it.
I then asked for a manager. She told me I could eat the tator tots not the French fries. She went back to kitchen to tell the cooks to use the dedicated fryer. They told her it’s not guaranteed that it’s always Gluten Free. The cooks will use it for all breaded items if they need too. Then they will switch the use for Gluten Free only but not change the oil. Obviously they are clueless what the definition is for a Gluten Free designated fryer. They also can’t say they are celiac friendly.
I won’t be going back. This is the 3rd time I tried this restaurant. The first two was awful. This was the end. When a waitress says I don’t know to a question. Then isn’t happy to ask a manager. If the manager guarantees something but the cooks do the opposite. Someone could get really sick.
If you want Gluten Free fries in Oshkosh don’t go here. They don’t what dressings for salads are either. We have wonderful celiac friendly places. This is not one of them.

Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun with a potato, tested it in my Nima sensor, NOT gluten free. They told me it was the ranch and remade it. Tested it again, still not gluten free. Most likely cross contamination. If you are celiac or a severe allergy I would be cautious. Ended up having to watch my family eat because I didn’t want to risk it.

Celiac here,
I have a lot of experience as I have worked at the mineshaft and would like to let everyone know the fries are not safe there is not a dedicated fryer. The best gluten free options that they have are burgers on a gluten free bun and tell your server you have an auto immune disease to gluten and cannot have the fries or tots and would like to have a baked potato instead. You can also order the rotini with red sauce and they will sub the fried chicken on things for grilled chicken instead. The sauces come in bulk in an unknown brand so I cannot say confidently that the sauces are gluten free it is best to avoid them if possible bring your own salad dressings to be safe. Explain to your server the issue with gluten and ask them to talk to the kitchen stuff about changing gloves and cleaning the work space but be aware other gluten food is being prepared in the same area at the same time!!!

Staff is knowledgeable about GF. Menu indicates substitution for GF burger buns, GF rotini for pastas, and French fries were safe. Definitely coming back here again!

Called and spoke directly to Manager, they make gluten free hamburger buns on site. All bacon, sausage, and ham all are cooked before anything else. Hash browns are strictly made on one side of the grill and normal pancakes and French toast are made on the other side. I had the Coppermine with hash browns and a GF hamburger bun toast in place of normal toast (was awesome!) and added the 6oz ribeye. I did not have a reaction (allergic to wheat) and everything was delicious! Portion size was also excellent, I had enough for a whole second meal. Service was also excellent! We had a dinning party of 11 and 4 of us are gluten free dinners (no issues by anyone). We will be back!
