I'm a highly sensitive celiac and we order from here once a week to indulge on pizza. They recently updated their entire GF menu and have specialty pizzas available as well. Pizza sizes are small, medium and large and crust is very good! I highly recommend.
5 stars for food, 2 stars for service. One of the better GF pizzas I've eaten. Did not get sick and I'm a very sensitive intolerant. Service was horrible. Called in to pick up order and was told 30-35 minutes. We did not get order until about 90 minutes after order called in.
One of the safest places in the KC area for celiacs. The staff is trained regarding gluten-free and ingredients, pans, and slicers are kept separate in the kitchen (I asked and got that information from the headquarters). Gluten-free pizza is very good, but I ask for light sauce because it seems a little overcooked. I always get the combo, but if you want to select toppings, ask which ones are gluten-free. I strongly recommend this restaurant for celiacs.

Pizza was delicious, service was super slow. For food I'd give 5 * but because of service overall rating is lower.

Called for pizza to go. Talked to manager first they were great. Asked about deducted space, different utensils, and gloves. They said yes absolutely and seemed very knowledgeable. I have 2 kids with celiac and they loved the pizza and had no reactions. Are they are VERY sensitive to gluten. Love this place!
I wanted to like this place so much. When I was younger and could have gluten, the location in Shawnee was good. But this time was not. I decided to order a gluten-free large pizza. The online ordering wasn’t working for me so I ordered over the phone. He repeated to me twice that it would be gluten-free. When I got it there was even a GF sticker on the box. The crust seemed different from normal pizza crust so I thought it was okay. It was definitely not. I have been feeling the effects since last night. I know for a fact the was the only thing I ate that could have even remotely had gluten in it, so it’s the culprit. I’m really upset too because their pizzas are like $20 for a “large” (it’s not as big as other larges), and also it’s $3 more for GF. I paid way too much to feel miserable. Just save yourself the money and trouble and steer clear of them.
We visited last night with my celiac son. Specifically ordered from the gf menu, and told both of our servers about gf. We ordered two pizzas, both specifically gf. My son's came out earlier as we put his order in first, then the 2nd pizza. At the end, our bill only reflected being charged for the small pizza as gf. The servers weren't sure if the big one was gf or not, and the manager stated it wasn't. Since we ordered both as gf, we let our son eat a slice of the 2nd pizza. Very disappointed that when ordering from the gf menu and stating it, still ended up with the wrong pizza and a sick child. otherwise, service was good and the pizza was very good too. Need staff better trained to listen and ensure when specific foods are ordered. Ended up with a voniting child most of the night from this.
The service was great and I didn't get sick! The breadsticks and pizza were very good. I even called ahead to ask about their gf handling procedures and they seemed very knowledgeable in how to properly handle things for celiacs. Highly recommend! I don't live in KC, but next time I'm back, I'll definitely go here again. Great job!
They have an excellent gluten free pizza which is pretty decent sized for the price. Unlike many other places where the gluten-free pizza is about the size of a personal pizza I can usually eat four or five pieces of theirs and be full. Sometimes the crust is not quite cooked all the way so it gets a little soft in the middle but then the edges are rock hard like they can be when it's cooked completely.
The pizza was good. BUT we went there specifically on Monday for their free kids pizza special (my daughter's 7th birthday dinner). I asked if they do anything special for birthdays. The waitress said yes, a chocolate chip cookie ( chocolate chip cookies are listed on their gf menu). We ordered the kids GF pizzas and so we sprung for a large GF pizza (it was over 20 bucks, we even had drinks!). The waitress came back after we ordered "we don't do the free pizza for gluten free." Ok I said (any where we go usually offers GF pizza for two dollars more etc). so I asked "can we just pay the difference, the two dollars more or whatever?" She comes back, "no we don't do that for the gluten free." So I ended up ordering a small pizza for my daughter (and the baby). It ended up coming out to nearly 45 dollars. I asked after the GF cookie for my daughter, and she says "oh I'm sorry we don't do that for the gluten free." sigh. I'm just disappointed with the service.
Good GF pizza in 3 sizes so if its just one member of the family that's got celiac like me you can get the mini and not make everyone have to get the GF crust. The GREAT kitchens certification on the door makes me feel like they actually care that it's safe for me to eat there, instead of other places where I worry that the GF options are part of a fad.
*** Please write honest reviews so others have up to date information on choices*** Great place with great practices :) I always get the amazing prime cut minus Italian sausage add salami... I have only gotten sick after eating here once and it could very well have been because my significant other ordered herself regular pizza and breadsticks.
They advertised the gluten free deep dish. I ordered it. It was marked gluten free. It even had the sticker on it. I ate it because it unbelievably delicious and soft. I was violently ill for 3 days. I later found out it was the regular pan crust. I'll never risk it there again. If the kitchen staff doesn't know the difference between crusts, I'm not interested.
I asked the hostess for their gluten free menu, I've eaten the gf pizza here before so I know they have one. She told me that "on the regular menu it says there is gluten free crust, and when you use gluten free crust it makes the whole pizza gluten free". Magic!! Wish it could be that easy. I have a hard time eating at a restaurant that promotes their gluten free menu and the employees have no idea what they are talking about.
i have celiac disease and i get rashes very easily i eat here all the time and have never had a problem i get take out more often than dining in but always have great experience. but their take out runs about 10min slower than they say i always add 10 min but small price to pay for not reactions!
My favorite local pizza chain! Only problem I've had is when I order my pizza GF and then ordered a salad as well they put a breadstick and croutons on my salad. They took it back and made me a fresh salad though. Now they have deep dish and I love getting their GF cheesy sticks
Ordered GF pizza from the GF menu. They must have brought me pizza with a regular crust! Obviously, I survived the night but was violently sick. My wife (non-celiac) ate some of my pizza and was fine. We were both suspicious of the beautiful, doughy crust, but trusted this place because our waitress said that they had new, GF options. Wish now that we had made her check with the kitchen. This experience was unacceptable!
Tried Minsky's for the 1st time after hearing about the gluten free menu. Amazing! Had the combo pizza and it was so good! They have a whole back page dedicated gluten free pizza, salad AND dressings. And even beer if you are a beer drinker. Good stuff!
About two weeks ago, I ordered a medium Canadian bacon with black olive and extra cheese pizza on original crust at the Olathe location. When the pizza arrived, it was completely trashed. It wasn’t tossed correctly (the edges of the crust were jagged and dried out), there was no extra cheese on the pizza, and there was next to no sauce on it. Worst pizza that has ever come out of a Minksys. I called back and complained to Ben, and he stated the next pizza would be free. When I called back today, a person answered the phone who did not initially give his name. I ordered the replacement pizza, advised him it was supposed to be free, and explained the previous problem. He stated Ben had only put an $18 comp in the system and that I would be required to pay sales tax. I told him I wasn’t going to pay sales tax because I paid $21.69 the time before, and the whole order was supposed to be free. When he refused, I asked to speak to a manager. Then, he claimed to be a manager. When I asked for the district manager’s name and phone number, he also claimed he was the district manager, which is ludicrous, because a district manager would not be at that location taking orders over the phone. Next, he hung up on me. I called back two more times to ask for his name, because obviously I was going to complain about him, and he hung up on me each time. The final time I called, I told him f he didn’t give me his name that I was going to drive up there, because I am only about 10 minutes away. Only then did he say his name was Ron, and when he gave me his name he claimed he had given it to me before, which he had not. I reiterated he hung up on me each time I asked for his name, and he chuckled under his breath. This is the most unprofessional restaurant experience that I have had in my life. Someone needs to fire this guy. So I decided to call the State Line location to find out the owner's name and number. When I spoke to Michael at the State Line location, he stated Ben would call me back within the hour, and he apologized for the employee's behavior. When he had not called me back by 3:15pm today, I made a trip to the restaurant. He wasn’t there, but Ron was. When I confronted Ron about his behavior over the phone, he repeatedly lied. He stated he never claimed to be a district manager and never refused to give me his name. He stated he had only hung up on me because I cussed at him, which is inaccurate. I am assuming he said this because another employee was present. Needless to say, he infuriated me at this point, and then I actually cussed at him. I told him if I ever picked up the phone again to make an order or if we came into the restaurant and he was still employed with the company, we would never do business with this location again. Then, he and one of your other employees asked me to “get out”. Hopefully, Minsky's is prudent enough to record customer phone calls for quality assurance, which would make my entire story verifiable. We’ve been eating at this location for almost eight years, and neither of us have ever been treated so poorly. At this point, I refuse to do business with Minsky's again. I have disputed the $21.69 charge with my credit card company.
