I chose this place because it was on this app as knowledgeable about vegan and Keto friendly. I had hoped to be able to eat a nice meal out with my family while in Quito. The restaurant was located in a fun area overlooking a busy square in Quito. The staff assured me they could accommodate Gluten free/Celiac. They walked me through their menu about what could be safe for me to eat. They even knew about fried items and cross contamination. I ordered a rice dish with seafood. It looked and smelled wonderful. I used my Nina to test the rice and it had tested “gluten found.” I then ordered a salad with olive oil and it came with dressing all over it. Finally I got a plain salad with oil on the side. It was a disappointing experience. Probably fine for gluten free people but definitely not Celia’s.
We struggled to find GF options while visiting Ecuador. My daughter is celiac & found Miskay through the app (Thanks Eric). The food is traditional, but the flavour combinations are great. My son & I aren’t GF and Miskay caters to both. Make them aware of your gluten restriction, and they explain everything. My daughter wanted something that wasn’t GF, and they adapted it for her. Definitely worth the stop whether you’re GF or not.
