Awesome. Worth the wait. Definitely Celiac Friendly.
Great choice for food and terrific for people with celiac. They had multiple gluten free options including pancakes. Manager came out to confirm our order and explain cross contamination precautions -- apparently this is standard procedure with allergies. Both gluten free and regular food delicious. Service lovely. Highly recommend.
Wow what a great place! The 30 minute wait was worth it! Had the bayou omelette with bacon cheesy grits and GF toast. Highly recommended
They take food allergies very seriously and ask you upon seating if you have any. Gluten free blueberry pancakes were delicious!
very good breakfast, the staff was knowledgeable and asked me of any food allergies. I didn't get cross contaminated. I will be eating there in the future
Absolutely fabulous. As soon as the waitress came over, she asked if there were any allergies. I had the pancakes, which were delicious, and found out they have a separate griddle only for gluten free (so no cross contamination issues)
If you hate the indignity of having to ask about every menu item instead of them labeling it for you, skip this place! Horrible with dairy or egg allergies and act like they never dealt with it before. Also you get to sit mere inches from someone eating gluten !!
Between the amazing service and the incredible food, this is easily the best meal we've had in the week we've been in the Baltimore/DC corridor. Wishing we had time to come back again before we left. Our server Troy took fantastic care of us, and made sure we were safe.
Sooooo great. Go here! The gluten free pancakes are some of the best I've had.
gf options! staff seemed knowledgeable and cc aware!
I ate there several times during my week in Baltimore. The staff are very conscientious of all food allergies and ask as soon as they wait on you. The food was delicious.
We were asked if contamination was a problem for us right when we sat so they could take careful care for us. Food delicious and menu terrific. Would def go back with my celiac daughter.
I am a frequent flier and a rewards card member and they never disappoint. The staff is very knowledgable and the menu is always changing. I can never get enough!
Huge portions. Extremely cautious. Our waitress, Jessica was very adamant about my celiac. She checked with the manager and chefs several times just to ensure my well-being. The crab soup is amazing...simply the best I've ever had in MD.
Awesome food! Excellent staff!
I ate there two mornings in a row. the Maryland omelet was delicious! they had gf toast too! I would go back when in the area. traveled to Baltimore over the weekend and had breakfast there 3 days. they ask all the right questions regarding allergies and servers know how things are fixed. fantastic. no issues. loved it.
My review echoes what everyone else is saying- Miss Shirley's takes Celiac and food allergies seriously. Their staff is incredibly educated and takes the greatest precautions with food. The first question the waitstaff ask is whether anyone has food allergies. Be still my heart! I had a sandwich that was pretty good. I'll definitely go back for the pancakes one of these days.
My daughter and I went to the one in Baltimore. She ordered the Cinnamon Danish pancakes and said they were dry and did not feel well after. I had an omelette, grits, and toast. The toast was rock solid, the grits reminded me of wallpaper glue, and I ordered parmesan cheese in the omelette and got a few other cheeses in there that i did not order as well as hair IN the omelette. The only reason it has a star is because of the service.
Absolutely delicious and decadent whit and dark chocolate chip pancakes. Staff educated on allergies and celiac, separate preparation area. Definitely worth the trip.
We have a child with Celiac and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They even start the dining experience by asking "are there any allergies we need to know about?". I heard them ask that question to every other table within earshot of ours. Will definitely come back when in Orlando again!
Great food, exceptionally knowledgeable staff.
Good food. The bread is OK. Not my favorite. They also have gf pancakes. They try to limit cross contamination.
The Cinnamon Danish GF pancakes are amazing! Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in detailing what food is safe and where there may be some risk.
Great breakfast! First place I have ever been where they greet you with " does anyone at the table have any allergies." Had gf toast with my eggs. No worries here.
Excellent cinnamon GF pancakes! Very knowledgable and friendly staff. I have severe Celiac disease but did not get sick at all.
My 4 year old son has Celiac Disease. He had the gluten free pancakes and loved them! They were very accommodating with his health issues! Will definitely be back!
Cinnamon swirl pancakes with a side of bacon grits. No reaction. Enough said.
The white choc and choc chip gluten free pancakes were delicious. Best gf pancakes!!
The staff asks everyone if they have allergies up front, which is nice. Good gf pancakes and they have gf bread too.
Great food! But they wouldn't let my friend get a mimosa at brunch because she had an out of state ID that was vertical and the server was pretty rude about it so beware...
Delicious food and servers are well trained on celiac disease and contamination. One of best breakfast spots in the Baltimore area gluten free or not.
Had simple eggs here and it was tasty. Even had GF bread, which was nice. GF menu.
The best pancakes of my life. Hard to stay away!
Delicious gluten free cinnamon roll pancakes! Server was knowledgable and friendly.
I had GF cinnamon swirl pancakes with cream cheese drizzle and sweet potato hash. Both were amazing.
Ordered gf pancakes. Okay, but dry. I was by myself. I would like to have given a higher rating, but server paid more attention to tables with more patrons. My first time, so I didn't know there were specials. Waited 15 mins to get order tsken. She did ask if my request for gf was preference or allergy. Never asked if I wanted more coffee. 20 mins from the time I finished until I was asked if I wanted my bill. Not able to get her attention during that time. I would go back to try something else and plan to be more aggressive if the service is so discriminatory against a single patron .
Amazing food and service. The manager came to the table to discuss our choices including the way our meal would be prepared. They have separate areas for prepping gluten free food. She was able to suggest menu items that would be safe to eat. They have gluten free pancakes and gluten free bread for sandwiches. The two people in my family with celiac ate delicious meals and weren't sick at all afterwards.
Service was slow but it's closing time so I'm sure they wanted us out of here. I ordered gluten free pancakes but they were so dry & tasteless. I put 3 containers of syrup and still couldn't eat them. With all the great reviews I read prior to coming here I am very disappointed.
Only options that we were told avoided cross contamination were pancakes and toast. Also did not have good service that day. Waitress made several rude comments. Was hoping for a better experience from all the rave reviews. Very disappointed.
All I can say is wow! As soon as we sat down, the server asked if we had any allergies. I told her I had Celiac and she told me what was gluten free and assured me that my food would be made separately. I had the cinnamon danish pancakes with turkey sausage and everything was delicious. The portion of pancakes was incredibly large too! I will definitely be coming back here more often, it's not too crowded on weekday mornings.
Very knowledgeable staff! First thing we were asked was if any of us had any food allergies. Then the manager came out to tell me that since hash browns are cooked in the same area as others, grits would be a great 100% GF alternative if I were highly sensitive. Grits were delish!!! Next time I go, I will have to try their pancakes. But what a treat to be able to have GF breakfast out!
The gluten free pancakes are amazing and the staff is very knowledgable and helpful. Out served asked us when we first sat down about any allergies and the manager came to also inform us the bacon would be cooked in a separate pan to avoid cross contamination. Best gf service I've ever had!!
Lured in by the promise of pancakes that were both gluten and dairy free. The pancakes were amazing and did not disappoint in the least. The portion is pretty huge so come hungry and the staff are attentive and knowledgeable about individual needs. Very knowledge staff. We notified our waiter we eat gluten free because I have Celiacs. He acknowledged and initiated conversation about gf options and sent the manager over. The manager went over their protocol to prepare gf food stating they have a separate area and use separate utensils. The manager also stated the entire kitchen staff is alerted to an allergy order to increase awareness and avoid cross contamination. The food was DELICIOUS!! And came out with a beautiful presentation. I can't wait to go back. It's the first place I've enjoyed breakfast since my diagnosis.
This place was awesome!! I had the cinnamon roll GF pancakes. They were delicious. They don't have a GF menu but the manager came out to discuss my needs and suggested which items on the menu are GF (mainly pancakes and sandwiches). They prepare everything in a dedicated GF area. I would go back again. They serve breakfast and lunch only.
Number one I loved the customer service of Miss Shirley's-- they bring a manager to talk to you if you mention you have allergies and when I called first before coming they were very accommodating and reassuring that I would have many options to eat. I got the GF pancakes which are also DAIRY FREE. So excited about that. Delicious, I got them with blueberries. They also have Gf bread for sandwiches they said. Love that I can go out to eat with my non-gfdf friends and still eat happily and safely. It is a little expensive but it's worth it for a treat.
I loved the gluten free options. I never get to eat breakfast out and this was such a treat. Danish pancakes! Full of Cinnamon and sugar. I asked for cream cheese icing on the side--just like eating a cinnamon roll. Delicious! Told waiter I was gf and he asked it was a preference or an allergy. Great way of putting it-- Owner came and explained what was gf. Will go back when in the area.
SUCH a good gluten free experience! Let the waiter know that both my mom and I had celiac and he shared that he understood the cross-contamination since his Aunt had it as well. Was happy to go back into the freezer and double check any ingredients and even offered to bring box out for us to check ourselves. Gluten-free pancakes were amazing and cooked on completely separate griddle, as were hash browns. SO many gluten-free options and drinks! Manager also came over to assure that our "allergy" was being taken care of! Would go back in a heart beat.
