I didn't get sick, and the waitress tried to answer my questions and accommodate me, but I never had that warm fuzzy and was nervous the entire time. The waitress didn't seem to know what gluten was. The wings are marked as gf, I asked about the fryer and she said it was fried with gluten items. She came back later and said that they were gf that they only share with the fries, but the menu doesn't have the fries marked as gf. They ended up putting the wings in the oven instead of the fryer (they are smoked first). So I feel good, but the food was only ok. I don't think I'd go back. I can't say its celiac friendly, bc even though I didn't get sick, I'm not convinced it is celiac friendly.
Gluten free and vegetarian options are noted on the menu. I told the waiter that I am celiac and have to eat gluten free and he quickly nodded, so I was a bit worried. I did see him make a quick note on his order pad, however. I then realized all of the other tables automatically received a bread basket and we didn't. Yay! The food was amazing and prices were reasonable. I would not hesitate to return to this establishment next time I am in Monterey.
We were very pleasantly surprised to find friendly and helpful staff and excellent food with many GF options at reasonable prices. Their wood fired cuisine is delicious. Too bad they don't have GF pizza crust because the wood fired pizzas looked awesome.
