Think twice before eating their gluten free desserts. In addition to ordering, I confirmed my cheesecake was GF TWO times before I ate it. When it was almost gone, our server approached us, concerned that she may have given me the wrong one.
The desserts are already in takeout containers —a simple sticker would have resolved this problem. Now, I’m rushing home to see if I’ve been glutened. I like this place and the staff, but we won’t be back.
UPDATE: We chanced going back again. They recognized me and told me they had made changes after my experience.
My fiancé (not GF) and I both loved this place. The fish and chips were amazing and I felt super safe with their precautions. We will absolutely be back and are so glad to have found a place this food close to home. I made the comment to my fiancé that their fish and chips were just as good or better than Cameron Mitchell’s.
I found a great option for gluten free dining today! The volleyball team was having Canes for feed the team so I tried to find something different for my daughter, bc I figure she will get sick of chipotle at some point. I found O'Huids Gaelic Pub via my “find me GF” app. It’s right on Main Street in Lancaster. It’s a cool little Irish pub. They can make just about anything on their menu, GF! The fish ‘n chips are awesome! As well as the fried pickle spears and the Twix bar cheesecake! I would like to go eat there as a family sometime and have it hot and fresh, instead of out of the styrofoam containers after a 45 minutes drive!
I sat and talked to the owner and a couple that eats there all the time while I waited on the food. The owners’ daughter has celiac so they are very knowledgeable and obviously careful. The couple was from Long Island, but moved to our area. They eat there all the time and the woman who is gluten sensitive said she’s never had an issue.
Just wanted to give a shout out and let people know about this great place 😊
This place is hands down what I would call a Celiac’s safe haven. It’s my comfort food, it’s my sweet tooth craving, it’s my ‘I want to socialize and have a drink’ go to spot!
I was diagnosed with celiacs 7 years ago and it has been such a hard journey to feel any sense of normalcy again. O’Huids is a family owned Gaelic pub with incredible food and an atmosphere to match! What first brought me there was the mouth watering gluten free fish & chips. However what had me coming back so often was the variety of freshly baked gluten free desserts made by a local baker. I swear her chocolate cake is a must have if you ever get the chance at it ( it always sells out)!
The owners, Keith & Judy Hoods, are some of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure meeting. Super supportive of their local community and always doing fantastic themes to keep everyone interacting and coming out for a great time. I couldn’t recommend this place enough as it is by far my favorite restaurant. Thank you for being a safe space for people with celiacs! I’ve been a customer with you for two years now. I look forward to many more enjoyable times there to come, cheers!
I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be back here every time I’m in the area. It’s FANTASTIC! There is a dedicated fryer and gf buns available. You can get everything fried gluten free basically!! I haven’t had fried wings in years and I could have cried. They were amazing. And the fried pickle spears? I will think about those for the rest of my life. The owner’s daughter has celiac’s and bakes the deserts. Since there’s a family member who’s gluten free, they really know all the precautions and concerns because they’ve lived it. There’s even gluten free beers!
When I mentioned to the server that I’m gluten free, she said, “OK, we’ll make sure you’re safe.” At that point, I knew it was going to be one of the best dining experiences I ever had. I had fish & chips, something I cannot order in just any restaurant. Knowing there is a dedicated fryer changes everything! How wonderful it is to be able to relax and know that your meal is going to be delicious AND safe! Kudos to the entire establishment!
Amazing place! The owner's daughter is Celiac & dairy free. They have the ability to make almost everything on the menu GF and are very aware of cross contamination. They have a baker on site and had GF cake ready! We chose O'Huid's for my GF daughter's birthday and are absolutely thrilled! We will be back!
Owners daughter has celiac so they go above and beyond to ensure no cross contamination with a dedicated gluten free fryer. Many, many options that you cannot find anywhere like battered fish and chips, Irish nachos, and gluten free beer (sometimes even on tap).
We follow Find Me Gluten Free when we travel and O’Huid’s was & is a GREAT FIND!! Lancaster, Ohio on Main Street. Owner’s daughter is Celiac and there are many choices whether you are celiac or not there will be something for you! We had the GF Fish and Chips, coleslaw and gf Ace Cider. They had burgers that they offer on gf buns also but we are pescatarian and GF. They had a gf S’more cheesecake and the baker came out to answer a couple questions regarding the way to make her cheesecake. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
OMG - our server, Crystal was the BEST! She is friendly, helpful, informative and a pleasure to talk to! She introduced me to the owner who also is fantastic! You can tell they really care and want to provide great food for their customers! The fish and chips were out of this world good! I have a wheat and soy allergy, so I was delighted that they were Gluten and soy Free. The had the perfect amount of breading, allowing you to taste the great fish! My boyfriend does not have an allergy. He said he would not have believed they were GF, unless they had told him. He enjoyed them as much as I did! The coleslaw was very tasty, a great flavor and texture. Even the tartar sauce was very good! Everything is made as you order it, so it’s fresh and yummy!
Amazing burgers. We went to lunch at O'Huids and the server was super knowledgeable. I started asking about breaded items on the grill and she said "We don't cross contaminate." Apparently someone close to the restaurant has celiac so they know their stuff. They even enticed us with a gf key lime cheesecake for dessert but we were stuffed. 10/10.
O'Huids is a safe place to eat. They have a dedicated fryer and you can fish & chips! Staff is knowledgeable when it comes to GF options and they always have a selection of beers and ciders to choose from.
Celeste always has an amazing GF dessert as well.
I eat there all the time and have never had an issue.
