I have Celiacs and have trouble eating out. I had the gluten free crab cakes which you can never find and they were so good that I went back the next day and had them again. No reaction at all. They were delicious! And the wait staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!!
I was skeptical given the reviews here. I debated between the red fish and the crabcakes but went with the crabcakes. I was okay without any issues, although it was fairly bland. My expectation of bourbon street food wasn’t high and this was late night, but the server was knowledgeable and I stressed how important it was so it was all good.
We tried to go to this restaurant twice. The first time I called and they said there was not a wait. We showed up within a couple minutes and they told us to get in a long line. The next day we attempted to go earlier in the day. We walked in behind a larger group, and the gentleman at the front told us all to get outside and in line. I requested a gluten-free menu for my daughter who had Celiac. Due to the lack of options, we decided to look around. When she gave the menu back, he told us to not come back. This was out of nowhere and completely disrespectful! I would never eat at this restaurant or recommended it!
They do have a specific gluten free menu. Only 5 options available though. I chose to go with the gf crab cakes. Bad idea. A little cross contamination doesn't usually bother me, but between the crab cakes or the mashed potatoes I ended up getting sick in the middle of the French Quarter. NOT a fun experience and put a damper on the rest of my day. I don't recommend this place at all. Way better places to go around here.
I had the crab cakes (on the gf menu I specifically asked for) and, as I was eating them, I was thinking "these are too good to be gf". They were. 3 hrs later, I vomited (my normal gluten reaction). I was so hopeful from other reviews. All staff have to communicate. It really sucks having to trust a stranger to prepare your food.
Ordered a side salad and the gluten free crab cakes. Specified the gluten sensitivity and that it makes me ill. My salad came out with croutons and we sent it back and got one without. The waiter apologized and said he forgot to put it in the notes. I got to the bottom of my salad and there was one small crouton. :(
They definitely made me a fresh salad when I sent the first one back. I checked.
The food was delicious though. And my dining partner who could eat gluten had an amazing pasta and fish dish.
It was so disappointing. I haven’t gotten my usual extreme sick yet. Just some inflammation. So maybe my body was in a good place to handle it. But be aware. You might get surprise glutened.
Had their grilled shrimp salad - it was pretty boring - the shrimp were good but basically shrimp on romaine with 2 slices of tomato and a couple of rings of red onion. Not a whole lot of creativity or flavors - the menu said $18 but I saw they charged $19 - that's a steep price for about 20 cents of lettuce and 6 shrimp. I would pass next time.
Amazing food & wonderful atmosphere. They have a gf menu with some great options. They have gf crab cakes which I was so excited about so I ordered them. They taste amazing but were too spicy for me so I ended up ordering the grilled chicken also. The mashed potatoes were amazing too! Highly recommend
I had redfish and crab cakes. The fish was very plain, pretty boring. The crab cakes were delicious. Also came with mashed potatoes and mustard greens which were delicious. Staff was helpful. Would skip the fish next time and go straight for the crab cakes.
They only had 4 things on the GF menu, but I really only needed one. The crab cakes were phenomenal! Hot, crispy, full of flavor. And the greens. Hot damn. Delicious!
*update: they actually had 5 options. I went back for another round of the Louisiana crabmeat cake platter. It came with two large crabmeat cakes, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a dish of the best mustard greens I’ve ever had. Didn’t have any reaction either time.
We ordered the gluten-free free crab cakes, the collard greens, and a gluten free shrimp salad. The crab cakes were soggy which made them unappetizing. The salad was great and the greens were excellent. Very little of the menu was gluten-free but the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed ourselves. I am not gluten-free and ordered the blackened duck which was absolutely delicious.
The gluten-free menu is very limited. I had theCrab Cakes and they were delicious. The mustard greens were also wry good and I don’t normally like greens. The waitress, Whitley was very friendly and helpful. TheWhite Russian and the Rajun Cajun Bloody Mary were great.
Limited selection as noted by other reviews but it was so nice to finally have crab cakes again and these were yummy! Our server made sure to notate it was an ‘allergy’ so they prepped it correctly. The spicy Bloody Mary had a nice kick and wasn’t too spicy. My non-celiac hubs loved their po’boys as well. No reactions!
There wasnt a broad selection (I put that in the comment card rarely seen in this area) the food was great as the service from all employees. Of you plan to long haul the night on Bourbon this is a good place to get warmed up and feed. (Mixed drinks are 30% cheaper here than any I've seen) Enjoy
Very very limited menu. Redfish, ribeye, chicken and crab cakes. That's it.
Very good! Specified gluten free menu. Only complaint was they never brought me my sides.
We recently dined here solely based on the reviews from this app & we were very disappointed. The gf menu is very limited (as many reviews have already stated) which isn't a big deal...but it got even more limited when the waiter informed us that they have changed their mashed potato recipe and that they are no longer gf (but still on the gf menu) the crab cakes were good, but very pricey. Our waiter seemed very annoyed to be serving our large group & having to cater to our dietary needs on top of it.
Very friendly service. Almost hate to say that the selection was limited. The GF menu listed crab cakes. When I got in I, saw that it was an appetizer. They told me that I could get a dinner version for $7 more. I got two very good, small appetizer crab cakes with diced vegetables. The diced vegetables were not worth an extra $7 to me.
Waiter was knowledgeable but snotty about it, they DO NOT have a gluten free menu, they simply leave some sauces off or give you steamed vegetables instead. No flavor in those. Not a great option.
