Their salad and basil pesto pasta was delicious!! Didn't get sick
I had the gf pasta with veggies and gf sauce. It was a big portion-- taste was fair (that's why I took away a start-- sure would be nice if they had gf bread. The gf salad is always good. Did not get sick
The waitress made a great effort to make sure that myself and my young niece with a gluten allergy were well cared for, but there was disagreement as to what we could and could not eat. The menu said that the sausage is GF and could be added to the GF rotini and vegetable marinara, but the cooks said it wasn't. She was worried, so they decided to cook the sausage separately and plate it separately so I could decide whether or not I was willing to try it... It made me uneasy as the cooks and printed menu were in disagreement. We still don't know whether or not the sausage is or is not GF, but at least they cared enough to make sure I knew there was a risk. She also took the time to make sure myself and my niece had a safe bowl of salad to ourselves. The sausage-less pasta was pretty good overall, although the noodles did fall apart rather easily. The vegetables were appropriately cooked as well. My only question is who do you believe--the printed menu or the cooks and wait staff??
I should have read the reviews before going here. There were about 5 choices of items to eat on the GF menu. I got really sick afterwards. I'm thinking I might have been cross-contaminated. I told the waiter that I have a gluten allergy and he just brushed it off and said that he would say that on the order. I wasn't impressed with the taste of the food either; the noodles were overcooked. I probably won't go here again.
The gf menu is extremely limited. I decided to go because I called ahead and was told there were plenty of gf options but there was no bread or pasta and I could only have one out of the few things offered. Also my wine glass was very dirty. Not great for a fairly pricey lunch!
Have eaten there a few times and have not gotten sick. The zuppa toscana soup is now gluten free and the salad is as well, if you tell them to absolutely not put croutons on, even if they forget and try to pick them off, I will know. One time the manager came over to tell me how much extra care they were going to give my pasta dish. So...I’m good here...not many places I can say that about.
As a Celiac, it's frustrating they even have a gf menu. I went with family for a holiday and had a gift card, so figured I'd eat a salad. They showed me the menu, which had a gf pasta and then a list of items that were gf... but not for Celiacs. Salad, grilled chicken, and other things were listed. I spoke with two people, who were very poorly trained. The one told me I could have the salad but the dressing may have "a little bit of gluten in it". I tried to explain that things with "a little but if gluten in them" should never appear on a gf menu. That experience left me with very little trust in them. They also offer items such as French fries, in gluten fryers. I won't return to an Olive Garden.
One of the first chains to offer gluten free. They boil gf pasta in same water with regular pasta, just not with the two noodles together. Much much much more than xtamination here. Ive never been back and it was a long while ago. Very bad reputation at this location which is where it was and nationally as well. You cant run fast enough.
As far as the food goes it was good, and the woman up front, Susan, was AMAZING. However, this is probably as far as service goes one of the worst take out experiences I have ever had period. The order wasn't right, the girl who took the order was the rudest person I have ever dealt with period. Firstly the girl barely spoke to me and when she did it was obvious she didn't want to. Secondly, I hand her the cash for the food and she just stared at me. It wasn't until I said something that she even did the cash exchange for me to pay for it. Beyond rediculous.
There was a non-gf noodle in my pasta. I asked the manager and he offered to remake it, but I hadn't found it until halfway through. They do have various allergy menus, and they did remember the croutons on the salad. No gf desserts, and no dairy free/gf menus at all.
Staff was knowledgeable, gluten free menu was on the video screen thingy & clearly marked. Food was good, better on the second visit, nothing to write home about, but I have Celiac and did not get sick, so if I'm in the area, I will eat here again.
Our server was incredibly sweet but had never served anyone with celiac before, so I asked for a manager just to be sure about prep. The manager, Tyler came over and was incredibly knowledgeable about celiac and how everything was prepared in his kitchen and recommended the safest items for me after I told him I did indeed have celiac. Our server after that was very interested in learning a bit about what gluten was as I was her first celiac customer. they were so wonderful!! And the food was delicious!! I was thrilled to find out my old favorite soup was gluten free the zuppa Toscana and then I ordered the parmesan pesto pasta as the manager stated the pastas like that one went through their sautee in completely clean and separate dishes that don't come in contact with anything. the menu the offer is a gluten sensitive menu so I felt better asking because I wanted to check if they shared a grill ( they do share a flat top) so he recommended the other items to me so I chose the best for me:) there are only a few options for celiac suffers other options are more gluten sensitive items. but the food and staff were amazing!
We got a gluten menu that had 4 choices on it was going to leave bc a disclaimer at the bottom said items are not gluten free but waitress guaranteed us hat we would be ok and the meal would deff be fine! It wasn’t five mins away hives kicked in swelling etc
Food was great! Had the soup and salad for lunch. Delicious! Zappa Toscana was very yummy and filling. The manager was very helpful and came to our table to explained the precautions they take in preparing the gluten-free dishes. Server was also knowledgeable and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!
My wife and I had dinner here in June of 2017. (Wife has celiac). We did everything we are supposed to do, we talked to the waitress in depth and she was great. She assured us her dinner would be properly prepared. She ordered steak, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Pretty safe, or so we thought. Meal came, again, reassured by our waitress that it was indeed gf. She ate some of the steak and potatoes, first fork full of broccoli and we found Pasta under the broccoli. Needless to say meal was over. Manager came out and apologized. We could hear the waitress screaming at the kitchen staff. Unfortunately all it takes is one knucklehead to screw up. Would not recommend
Staff was friendly. I ordered the GF and dairy free salmon with broccoli and salad. I ate with no reaction. However, the salmon was over cooked. The steamed broccoli was not fresh and was already turning brown. The salad tasted like it came from a bag.
It took three tries to get my gluten free chicken primavera. First the chicken came out fine but the noodles were regular. Then the noodles were gf but the chicken was the same as before. Finally I had a meal that was correct, but I'm pretty sure they boiled the gf noodles in the regular noodle water because I ended up in pain anyway. They really did try to make it better, they comp'ed my meal and gave me a smoothie - as all their desserts are not gf. But my boyfriend was completely done eating by the time I had gotten mine. Hopefully they have learned from this and will do better next time. They did try.
I ordered a carryout and they gave me noodles that weren't gluten free. Thankfully I have eaten at a different Olive Garden before so I knew that the noodles should have been rotini and they weren't. When my husband took my order back, they asked him if he was sure the noodles they gave me aren't gluten free? Clearly, they have no idea which ones are and aren't. I won't eat here again.
Location in sherman has good food and always seems to try and be careful. I'm always clear about being gf but dot make a big deal about it. I've learned to stir up noodles and watch for the random stray noodle that's not supposed to be there. Have not had that happen in a very long time and been told they cook gf noodles in there own place. Good place to go. They seem to care and hardly ever end up sick when eating there. Hard not to stare at other peoples bread though.
