The staff was amazing! I requested to talk to the chef and they make my entree exactly how I needed it. They have a GF menu as well and the manager made me a margarita using GF vodka. The best experience. I brought my own chips, so I can’t give any review over the chips ;)
Not at all impressed with this place. When I was unintentionally glutened by the chips (not GF!), the waitress was completely unapologetic. Even after that, she didn't offer a GF menu and told me that most of their menu is not gluten free due to cross contamination. So, cool. I won't be eating there again.
Very confusing gf menu because almost every corn product is deep fried and marinades have soy sauce (eg, no hard taco shells to be found, no enchiladas either). Better to try Abuelos if there is one near.
Don’t do it. I made the mistake and I am at the point of tears from the pain
— Not at all
— No gluten-free information on the menu
With the rotating staff, you can't trust it. Most items just don't taste good. No dedicated fryer. And the servers make flour tortillas for most of their tables. I would only risk it during weekday slow times.
I’m not one to complain about service, but service here was abysmal. Food was subpar and I didn’t feel well after I ate. Was looking forward to some Mexican but left unsatisfied. Won’t be returning.
Staff was very knowledgeable and assured me that precautions would be taken to prevent cross-contamination. Great place with GF chips and many options. They were very busy but managed to keep my meal safe!
The already limited menu just keeps getting smaller. Chips are not safe, and I've been told by a server that cross contamination is highly likely due to them using the same scoop and fillings as they do with the flour tortillas (scoop touching flour tortilla and going back into container to then be used for a corn tortilla) Only reason for 2 stars is because I like their Queso and Guac. I get them to go, and use my chips from home.
I have gone to this location maybe 5 times, I usually get the same thing, chicken mini tacos, and am usually safe, this last time the waitress told me the chips were gf, we said no, she went to check, answer was no, then I ordered my usual dish, and she gave me steak, was good even though wasn't what I ordered, I would prob go back again , just be super cautious.
Eat here often and I have not had an issue. They will even provide a GF menu and advise the cooks. Most everything they will substitute for corn tortillas instead of flour. Just have to tell them.
It is a mixed kitchen, no seperate prep area.
I had no clue you could cook Mexican food badly, but this restaurant proved that. The rice alone was strangely seasoned and extremely dry. I didn’t get glutened, but did have a stomachache after our meal.
Not gf. No dedicated fryer and when I ordered steak they cooked it on foil so it came out a very unappealing grey color. They may have good intentions but they have a very longggggg way to go.
Gluten free menu provided but kitchen staff was disorganized and got multiple orders wrong for the people at our table ordering from the regular menu so it was not surprising to me that my daughter became sick hours after eating from the gluten free children’s offerings.
They dont take any kind of gluten free precautions for preparing food. while some menu items are gluten free, they are not made in an allergy safe gluten free area and they do not use designated gluten free utensils. i used to work here as a host and to go person, i watched first hand how they prepare and cook the food. after i was diagnosed with celiac i could not eat anything they made there, not even the chips as theyre made in the same fryer as fried chimichangas and chicken strips.
The staff was knowledgeable (and when they didn’t know, they asked!) I had a delicious meal, and felt great
I’m a celiac, The food was amazing... I got a steak Skillet bowl and ate the chips. It all tasted like heaven... and then I got super sick the next day. (And I almost never have severe symptoms)
Went to the to go pick up window. Wasn’t expecting much and I was right. Asked what was gluten free or for gluten sensitive and got the look—- then the uhh I don’t know let me check. Was left there 10 minutes. She finally came back so I just ordered a salad. Pulled up app and got the mango vinegar dressing. 20 minutes later picked it up . Very underwhelming. I would think in an airport they would give people SOME training . I guess not.
I ordered chicken enchiladas (w sour cream sauce) omg it was sooooo good! Spoke w the manager before I ordered. They will warm corn tortillas up in microwave to avoid CC. Tortilla chips are in shared fryer so I didn’t get them. This meal was excellent and I didn’t get sick! Highly recommend!
The food was amazing! I ordered the chicken enchilada, Mexican rice, re-fried beans and the watermelon margarita. No bad reaction, and the food was awesome! I only wish the tortilla chips were gluten free! Bring your own bag of chips and you can enjoy the yummy salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip!
The manager Holly Fry and her staff are always very considerate and helpful of my gluten free diet because of celiac desease. I have never had issues after eating at the resturant. On the Boarder does have a GF menu. One down fall is they soak the onions in soy sauce for the fajitas; therefore, no onions with fajitas, which is a sad thing for me!
Staff was knowledgeable, the enchiladas were very good. We tested the food with the Nima gluten tester and it was indeed gluten free. They said the Tortilla chips came from a separate fryer and were also gluten free (but we didn’t test these). Very good experience.
Gluten Free menu. Server was not afraid to go ask manager when she was unsure of our GF questions. She wanted to make sure everything was done right for us. We ordered the queso. Then, the steak fajitas w/o the onions. Fajitas were served with a substitution of cilantro lime rice and black beans which were fabulous!!!
They had a GF menu. It is a subset of the regular restaurant but still had plenty of options. Waitress told me that they do fry the chips in a common fryer. Food was nothing special, but seemed safe if ordered GF.
So we read all the reviews and we’re going to try this place. But the staff seemed confused when we asked about if the chips were safe to eat or not. And didn’t really seem to know anything about celiac disease we decided not to risk it. Since staff was so uncertain
We have eaten here safely and did feel they tried really hard to impress us and keep us safe. They have excellent food, and many things are naturally gluten-free. They have a very clear "gluten-friendly" menu. They don't guarantee they are celiac safe, but my husband had no reaction. THE CHIPS ARE NOT SAFE. Avoid those, because they DO NOT have a dedicated fryer. Salsa and cheese dip are safe though, in case you want it on something else (or to grab a spoon). Great experience. Just be careful and try to order simple. I'd give five stars if the chips were safe!
Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating for my celiac needs. I’ve eaten here twice with no issues. The food was fresh and plentiful. Be sure to tell them upfront of your allergies.
