My daughter ordered her first taco meal ever and was thrilled to eat it successfully from this restaurant. It sounds like they do have one item on the menu that is marked as gluten free but is not safe which is the queso. Luckily our server mentioned that so we skipped that appetizer and asked a lot of questions about dinner options. The food was tasty for all of us and the seating on the water was a nice bonus.
I’d like to give you a zero, but because that is not possible, I am giving you a ✨one✨.
1. The food was not good. Aka BAD.
2. White rice and coconut coleslaw are the only celiacs safe sides. (They even messed up white rice. It was AWFUL)
3. I was told Catch of the day was the only truly celiac safe entree. But without seasonings… They gave me a plain piece of fish… not even salt and pepper.
4. All this I could’ve stomached if it was not also horribly overcooked. 🤢🤢🤢
It just tasted so bad 😭. Do NOT go here.
My glutenful companions were also not impressed. (Fish tacos and fish and chips).
I have eaten here 3 times and have had amazing food and knowledgeable servers who were able to guide me on what was gluten free and they understood Celiac. I have had the burgers with a very good gluten free bun and the coleslaw which is all good. Can’t have fries because of cross contamination. Had a really good margarita too! Great views and entertainment
Great drinks. Amazing view. Toes in the sand kind of place. Hula dancing and live music. Menu has maybe 3 Gf designations. Hamburgers available with gf bun. Chips are in shared fryer so a no no. Fish taco in corn tortilla but hold blackening seasoning as this for some odd reason contains gluten. Went with the oneo salad with fish of day (ahi). No visible seasoning. Opted for kaffir lime leaf dressing, very good. Fresh greens with many spiral sized veggies. No immediate reactions but menu does warm of cross contamination possibility. Food is prepared in food truck on site.
Not celiac safe unfortunately
Very limited options for GF. No appetizers. Gluten free buns available but they are not able to prevent cross contamination. They cannot cook meat or buns on a separate grill and even though the staff was friendly, they sternly warned cannot take special precautions
When I asked my waIter, he was knowledgeable and told me about GF options, and said something on the menu is listed a GF but has trace amounts on the seasoning for the meats. He happily gave me corn tortillas for my quesadillas and brought an extra bc corn tortillas are smaller. I also had the chili rice with no reaction, and it’s a delicious happy hour feature that is just $5. Washed it down with the happy hour mai tai ($6).
We ordered burgers with a GF bun which is one the menu. The staff did not write down our order (red flag number one). We received our order from a runner, not our server so I didn’t get a chance to confirm that the bun was gluten free. (Red flag number 2) We stared at it and squished it a few times and determined it could be a really good GF bun. I should have just waited. I took 2 bites and said this is too good.... when the server came back I asked her if the bun was GF and she ran away to ask. (She could tell by looking at it) she ran back about 5 min later with Gf buns and said she was so sorry and “is it a severe allergy?” We had them remake the burgers because a bun was not going to remove the gluten crumbs from the burger or the plate. They did not understand at all. They comped is a dessert. It was not something we would have ordered and it was gross. That night we were both sick, even with lots of medication to offset the effects of gluten. We won’t be going back because it’s honestly not worth getting glutened.
The menu here does not really offer gluten free options. Our server did not seem to have a clue as to what might be safe on the menu and told us to look for the G behind the menu item. There were none. The only thing noted was a gluten free bun for a hamburger. I still found a couple of things to eat and no reaction, so apparently they did note my dietary restriction. The food had good flavor.
They changed their menu, nothing is marked except they have a bun. Fryer not safe and waitress when I mentioned nothing on menu was marked as she had indicated, informed me they were new menus and she didn’t have time to go through whole menu to let me know what was safe. This was past lunch rush. They should not be on this app as an option.
I don't know why, but I get very irritated when a server does not write down the order especially when there is a guest with an allergy, but our server did not and of course the appetizer came out wrong. The main course was filled with lots of pepper. Atmosphere and drinks were good.
They have gf buns available for their burgers, which is nice. I confirmed with the waitress that their BBQ pork sandwich was gf, except for the bun. She was shocked that I would be ok with a gf bun instead of the French roll they normally use, or even no bun at all. But they made it the way I requested, and it was delicious. The place only gets 4 stars because of the very limited gf options listed on the menu, and the too small portion sizes (my husband, who can eat everything, got the tiniest piece of ahi when he ordered the catch of the day, and my sandwich was a little skimpy on the pork)
