My main place to go is now Original Joe’s and they seem to really understand celiac. I always order the California Cobb Salad or the grilled chicken burger with gf bun. I love their sesame rice as a side. My order is always clearly labeled that it’s for a “gluten allergy” for take out which I appreciate and the staff are always so friendly.
The Butter Chicken entree is delicious and one of the only celiac safe items on the menu. They do not have a dedicated fryer, so all of the items marked “GF” are not actually GF. They do have a GF Cheesecake with blueberry compote, which is delicious. This restaurant is located adjacent to the Rosedale on Robson hotel in Yaletown, so very convenient for hotel guests.
Told server I was gluten free, he told me what items were gluten free, Ordered the ACE burger, Caesar salad, and mashed potatoes (you get 2 sides) when my order came and I was part way finished , I noticed there was a French fry on my plate, I looked closer and you could see that there was many fry crumbs on the plate. Seems like they forgot that it was gluten free and wiped the fries off. I told the server that this was quite serious for some people, that I would likely be ok, but the kitchen needs to know that much gluten could hospitalize some celiacs and they need to be more aware. I am unsure if he told the kitchen or not.
