Parkville location**

Menu is largely different from the Cockeysville, no gf crab cake or pasta, so I ordered a steak. Told waitress I had a gluten/wheat allergy- she assured me I would be fine. Entree comes out and there is “Au Ju” on. Had to ask waitress to ask the kitchen staff what was in the au ju as it had a gravy consistency.

Steak is not gf. Au ju has wheat for thickener.

TLDR; given regular pasta, told was gf, I unknowingly ate half of it

I made it explicitly clear I needed gf precautions and it seemed that was understood and was on the ticket sent to the kitchen. Was still given the regular pasta and told it was gf, despite their gf being penne and this was not, which I found out halfway into finishing the meal. Meal was comped and the manager apologized but that was it. I was so excited too because of all the great reviews but not sure how they could so blatantly and confidently mess up the order.

I learned about this place from the Find Me GF app, and boy were they right! They do have GF crab cakes (8 oz) and they are delicious. It was great to eat in a REAL restaurant - tablecloths, fabric napkins, nice and knowledgeable waitstaff, etc. Many items on the menu can be prepared gluten free according to our server (and the tiny print on the menu).

Had the gluten-free crab cakes here many times. They are full of lump crabmeat and little filler. Absolutely delicious!

Pappas has its own extensive gluten free menu. We ordered take out. I explained our celiacs and they were very clear that the only issue of cross contamination would be if it had to go in a fryer. My daughter got the wings (they assured us it was baked) and I got the crab cake. Both were fantastic. They were very kind about our food limitations and pleasant to work with.

They are up front that they can't guarantee cross-contamination. They don't have a dedicated gluten free fryer so avoid anything fried. Items are clearly marked though. I spoke to the server and she was helpful. I did not get sick.

The first time I was there the waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. He checked with the chef with any questions her was not sure of. He told me the the fries are not in a dedicated fryer. I recommended that they take them off GF menu . No problems that night. He was concerned and helpful and told us that he talked to the chef. The second time I went, the young waitress said that there could be gluten contamination. I assumed wrongly that she would talk to the chef. I should not have ordered and gone with my gut feeling. I had stomach issues, headache and pain afterwards. I am question if there is a protocol for the staff in place

My go to place when I am in this area. Very knowledgeable kitchen staff. I educated a new waiter about celiac vs. gluten free. Delicious gluten free crab cakes. This my third visit and always have felt fine afterwards.

The original Parkville location has not caught up with the cockeysville location on GF items. But the Cockeysville location is highly recommended. As others have pointed out, they have amazing GF crabcakes. Their regular crabcakes are some of the best around and the GF version is at least as good.

Unlike some places, the GF menu is extensive and includes pasta dishes, sides, desserts, and other entrees. Most of the staff I've dealt with are knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to the GF menu items.

I go here at least once per month.
