This is a a delicious, unique GF option in the heart of Brookline. We have eaten there multiple times and have never been sick. The staff always asked whether the GF request is an allergy or preference. When I tell them an allergy, I feel like my order is handled with care! Plus the crepes are SO delicious!!
From the owner: "We make a gluten-free buckwheat crepe batter that can be substituted in any of our crepe recipes. We use a very light buckwheat flour that we found to taste the most similar to our regular recipe, and it maintains a similar color and relatively similar texture.
Guests with allergies to gluten need only mention their allergy to us when ordering, and we make the crepe on a crepe iron that we reserve only for crepes with allergies (it is off to the side and out of sight from the counter). A separate set of tools is used, and the staff member preparing crepes on this iron changes their gloves. We confidently serve our gluten-allergic guests in this way, assuring prevention of cross-contamination. Come see us soon!"
I used to eat here a lot with no issues. Then I ended up getting sick one day. We called them and mentioned that I got sick and they gave us a refund and a gift card. I thought it was a fluke and ate here a few more times. I ended up getting sick again and stopped eating here.
One of the times I got sick I dined in so it may have been from the utensils (they are typically pretty dirty). However one of the times I got sick it was from takeout. So there must be some method of CC that’s food related.
This happened about a year or so ago. I was hoping they made some changes but based on recent reviews, it seems like they haven’t.
It’s really disappointing because I really liked this place. Their crepes are really good but it’s not worth the risk at this point. I hope they change their practices because it seems others are getting sick.
Went here today and food was great!! When I said I have Celiac, they told me everything is done in a separate area on its own equipment. Everything on the menu is marked if able to be GF! I will say that seating is very minimal inside (6-7 tables total) so heads up if you’re going on a busy weekend morning!
We visited Brookline this past week and found this restaurant because of its gluten free menu. Staff were very helpful and let us know there would be a slightly longer wait for the gf food since they make it completely separate. We liked the food so much we went back again 2 more times while we were in town.
Absolutely amazing! The people working there were so friendly and super knowledgeable about everything. Was able to easily order gluten and dairy free crepes and had no negative symptoms or anything. Food was delicious. Highly recommend!
I eat here almost every time I go to Boston and have never had a problem. The workers are super knowledgeable, they have excellent cross contact procedures, and the crepes are delicious. Also, I might be wrong, but I think they recently changed their crepe recipe, and I honestly like them even better than before!
Pretty much any crepe (with the exception of some seasonal ones) can be made with GF buckwheat batter. They are highly aware of gluten free and ask if it’s an allergy or preference. GF crepes get cooked on a separate surface, so there is no cross contamination. Do be aware that GF crepes here take longer to cook (about 20 minutes) so I would plan on getting there before you get super hungry.
Delicious and accountable! I ordered through Grubhub and the receipt had hearts all over the gluten allergy note. The package my food came in had “GLUTEN FREE BUCKWHEAT” and “made on a separate grill by (initials)” written on it. I feel so taken care of by this restaurant!
This place is great! I have celiac and this place is completely allergy friendly. They have separate areas, grills and everything to keep the food from cross-contamination. All their crepes can be made gluten free.
I had the Berry Antionette, and it was delicious! My husband (not gf) had the lumberjack, which he devoured.
It’s pricey, but I would still definitely come back if I lived closer!
Went twice with someone who has celiac disease and they got sick both times. Not good with cross contamination
So good, they use a separate place to cook the crepes and are very cautious to avoid any possible cross contamination. The items on the menu that CANNOT be made gf are marked which threw me off at first. I believe only one sweet crepe can’t be made gf, they have so many options for gluten free I’ve eaten there twice a week since moving into college.
Ordered a savory crepe, sweet crepe, and the Nutella hot chocolate. All were delicious! The staff is very knowledgeable and aware about allergies, and when you order GF they will ask you if it’s an allergy or preference. If you say allergy it will be prepared in a dedicated work space that they first wipe down just in case, using separate tools, and batter that is stored separate from the wheat batter. Took a little longer than my friend who is not GF due to their extra sanitizing process, but it’s a small price to pay. A bit pricey, but will definitely return.
Dedicated areas for gluten free and nut free. They always double check and can even hold part of your order if you have a meal and dessert. Very careful with allergens and their nutella buckwheat crépe is to die for!!! Wish I lived in brookline so I could come here every day! OMG LOVE!!!
