The food was just okay - basic bar food. The server didn't seem to have been trained regarding GF or allergies. However, he was happy to go to the kitchen to confirm they had a dedicated fryer and to ask the kitchen staff questions I had about menu items. It was fine for a rainy day lunch.
I don’t know why people said they have gf breaded fried chicken. They looked at me like I was crazy. Food may be great, but I came here based on the reviews on this app about that sandwich and it is NOT gluten free according to staff (more than one). So, I went elsewhere.
My daughter is Celiac. She ordered the GF smash burger and GF fries. She was severely glutened Labor Day Monday. Although her other symptoms have subsided, she’s still nauseous 9 days later and can’t eat much. Please make sure kitchen staff is well educated on Celiac and cross-contamination. It will takes months for her small intestine to recover from this. On a positive note, great space and atmosphere.
They said they had a dedicated fryer for the fries, gluten free bun, BREADED fried chicken, and were very safe about cross-contamination.
I had a breaded fried chicken sandwich (first fried chicken I’ve had since diagnosis in 5 years!) with chili sauce, onions, etc. It was absolutely delicious and I felt fine, and feel confident they handled it well. Amazing place, and I would recommend to anyone in Oak Island!
Our server was very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu. And they have special gluten free fries cooked in a dedicated fryer. It was only a $1 more for a gluten free bun that was really good! Had no issues with my meal which was a burger with gluten free bun and fries. So good and great service!
