I go here frequently, sometimes once a month and have never had issues. I enjoy the original chicken the most. Never had issues getting sick even when they are busy. They take proper precautions
Update May 2024. Continue to go here and never an issue. They have a more expanded gf menu than they used to. I have dined in and ordered online to go without issues
I LOVE this place! The hostess has celiac as well and explained that they clean all equipment and woks prior to cooking gluten free. They take all GF menu items seriously. They have a separate prep space in the back to ensure safety of the dish. Most of the time, the meal comes out marked GF, but this last time, they didn’t put a GF to-go lid on it. My husband asked about the meal and they confirmed it was still safe and made GF. I’ve found my fav take-out Asian place! 10/10 recommend the sweet and sour chicken with GF fried rice!
We get food from here on a fairly regular basis. I always do take-out... even if I'm eating in the restaurant. The take-out containers are safe. The restaurant plates & cutlery are not safe. Really emphasize when you're ordering you, that you have celiac disease and that you're extremely sensitive. Talk to manager. Food is yummy and reasonably priced.
We have eaten here for at least six years, sometimes once a week, and I have only gotten contaminated once. James is knowledgable, as is Audry ( manager). Very accommodating to GF. Ask for double coated meat if you want it crispier. Love the Pei Wei spicy chicken salad, mild! Six options on the GF menu. If very sensitive, ask for them to burn the wok twice. 20 or so GF options!
they only have two options for gluten free plates :/ and I had a reaction to their food so I'd pretty much stay the hell away if you are celiac or what I am which is gluten intolerant . it was a really bad experience !!!!!!
After my celiac kids got violently ill the last two times we ate here, I complained via the online Pei Wei site. Customer service was outstanding and they sent us 4 free meal gift cards to use and reassured me they have reviewed gf safety guidelines, etc. so we tried it again. I was told that they do not have separate utensils or woks for GF. They put oil in the wok and heat it to a very high temperature and call it good. Folks, please note that gluten is a protein and it doesn't "burn off" like they describe. I do NOT recommend this for anyone with celiac, it is simply not safe.
I have eaten here once since being GF. I had high hopes but got sick. I'm very reluctant to try it again even though I know mistakes happen. just hate to spend money on a meal just to be sick. I am sure I will try it again one day.
Wow! Quick service and fresh taste! recommend to all my Gff's!
I gave this a four star due to the tastiness of their food. They're GF menu is very small, like 4 items, but I haven't gotten sick. They're GF options are carefully planned, as they go so far as to cook the veggies in water instead of veggie broth because the broth contains some barley. This is a sister restaurant to PF Chang's, so they have a decent amount of training, although, not as much as PF Chang's does.
I was so excited to eat there but found out they use the same frying pans and utensils to cook the gluten free food where gluten containing food has been cooked, they do not wash the pans in between, they only rinse with very hot water and allow the high heat to clean the pans. In my opinion , this is a major cross contamination issue and I didn’t feel safe eating there so I left without trying it!!
We have gone to this location for years with my son who has celiac, but we won’t be back. The management has definitely gone downhill. The last three times we’ve had issues, 2 times we’ve had raw chicken in our meals. This time my son’s gf meal had wheat noodles throughout it. When I let them know that it needed to be remade they said that they don’t always follow protocol and do use colanders that have wheat noodles still stuck to them. They also said they are an open concept kitchen and don’t guarantee gf. I told them not to give gf options if they aren’t going to follow their own protocols.
We love this place. Clearly marked gluten free. The kung so chicken is wonderful!
Not safe. I went there based on the reviews here and after seeing gluten free indications on the menu. I told them about my diagnosis and they assured me that the gluten free food was prepared separately. However after eating most of the dish I ordered I found a wheat noodle in my bowl. The server had also served all the food together without changing gloves and touched inside the bowl. I would not go back.
