they are very careful and completely understand what to do. The food also always turns out great!
I have ate at this location multiple times. Items clearly marked on menu. Sweet and sour and spicy chicken have always been great. They have gluten free soy sauce packets also. Extremely sensitive Celiac and this is one of my faves!
Not a ton of options but the ones that are available are very delicious & well prepared
Just a handful of GF options, but the food was good - had the lettuce wraps. The order that is printed for the kitchen has allergy alerts & GF in big red type & actually tells them what things to NOT put on your order. I didn't have any issues with CC.
P.F. Chang's is much better and this is only barely cheaper - also, doesn't have many options. Alright for a quick Chinese option, though - I like the Pei Wei Spicy Chicken best.
They have a dedicated gf menu. Haven't got sick so I'm fairly confident in their gf practices.
So-so food and only a few GF options, but a change of pace nonetheless.
Went to Pei Wei tonight. 3 people were in front of us. When we got to place our order, they guy left and started clearing tables. After about 5 minutes, the carry out guy asked is if we were ready. Unbelievable! I am giving it 2 stars because I they offer gluten free options.
I haven't been in about 3 months, due to my order being wrong 8 times in a row. Two of the times they were not gluten free, I could tell immediately by the texture that they were not and I was originally argued with by the staff until the kitchen confirmed what I knew. The manager was very rude and unhelpful. When I called corprate they were very nice and concerned and gave me $10 off my next meal. The next time I went was the last because they messed my order up again, and I always order the second thing and I just got tired of the fight. I never had any trouble the previous 3 years I'd been going. Anyways they do have gluten free food, it's just up to you if you think it's worth the risk.
This has been my go to restaurant for gluten free for a couple of years. Always felt safe eating here, until two days ago. I ordered the GF sweet and sour chicken as usual. For some reason I felt uneasy about the food when it came, even asked the waitress if she was sure it was gluten free and was assured that it was. Well, it wasn't. I've been glutened big time and have two weeks of misery to look forward to. I won't be going back.
Got very sick, ordered GF chicken as listed on the menu. When the server brought my food i ask for clarification if it was gluten free and she sort of shrugged it off. Was sick for days and super confused.
The gluten free portions are much smaller than the same non-gluten free items.
I’ve gotten very very sick from this location and have found other things mixed in with my meal that we’re not on the gluten free menu
Found non gluten noodle in rice. Chicken was also breaded.
Asked for gluten free pei wei chicken. It took an extra 15 minutes, but worth it to know it was prepared separately. It also tested gluten free with my Nima sensor. And the food was delicious!
I went in to eat lunch with my family. Ordered the Gluten Free sweet and sour chicken told them that I was Celiac. Got my food. 5 bites in I was glutened. Very disappointed. Not the first time Pei Wei cross contaminated my food. I was sick for 2 weeks.
Gluten free sweet and sour chicken! Gluten free soy sauce!
They have only 2 items that gluten free, which is sweet & sour and Pei Wei original. The chicken seems to coat with lightly flour, which we don’t know if it gluten free flour. They said they have gluten free soy sauce but can’t make gluten fried rice. They said they can only make fried rice with only no sauce at all. So, basically rice mix with veggies in the wok. Then don’t said that you have gluten free soy sauce. Luckily, my son said he can eat the sweet &sour. The taste wasn’t bad but the steam vegetable that come with order was very old. One of the broccoli and black mold on it. Not impressed and disappointed.
last two times that I ate here, I got sick. It is delicious :( gf spicy chicken with brown rice
Gluten free items are indicated on main menu with symbol or you can ask for GF dedicated menu behind cash register. Very limited menu but great food. Very friendly and helpful staff, who went the extra step to make sure my food was prepared in a clear wok.
We have been eating here regularly since we moved back to Utah seven months ago. Except for one time, we have eaten there without any problem and I am very severe in my symptoms. The night I got sick there was a brand new kid there. He tried he just didn’t quite know what he was doing. But when the manager is there he always handles things wonderfully!
Although the staff seemed knowledgeable my order was completely wrong
LOVE THIS PLACE! My non gf boyfriend and I come here almost everyday and I have never gotten sick once. They manager (vanna) even had the kitchen make me a personal size lettuce wrap with no sauce and then added gf soy sauce for me! They are so knowledgeable and helpful. This is the only Pei Wei we go to because of the great staff here!
My husband and I were going to this location for a while and the staff were super kind and helpful. Even the guys who cook waved when we came in because they knew us :) They always made my fried rice with gluten free soy sauce but when we went one day, the girl at the counter said they couldn’t anymore because the manager said “No” I asked to speak to the manager and she came right out and said they can make me rice and give me a packet of gluten free soy sauce to stir it in myself due to “corporate not wanting them to waste time opening each small packet for customers with special requests while it’s busy and risk backing up the other customers orders” When she said this I looked around and we were the only ones in line and about 5 others who were in the restaurant eating already. She said they can “do me a favor this one time” but no longer. I guess so much for customer service. Sad because the actual staff was great and the food always great, but this nasty manager ruined it. By the way, every other Pei Wei in Jacksonville has never had a problem making me fried rice with gluten free soy sauce and has always taken the extra time to open the little packets no matter how many other people there were :) Continuing to love Pei Wei....just NOT this location due to the nasty manager
I ordered online and selected the gluten allergy option. When I picked up, the staff were extremely confused about what the gluten allergy meant on the receipt. Asked to talk to the manager to make sure food was prepared correctly and he wasn’t any more reassuring. He wasn’t even sure which food options on their menu were gluten free, which seemed strange. In the end, I didn’t feel confident to try o my food and gave it to my non celiac family members to eat.
They have amazing Alford with options for pretty much any food allergy. They have GF and vegetarian options.
Ordered sweet and sour chicken with white rice. The cashier said that in order for the dish to be gluten free i could only have white rice with it, plus it would take a little while longer than normal because they had to make sure it was safe for me to eat :) i appreciate that! Makes me feel a bit safer :)
7-13-2018, great gluten free meal. Ordered the original spicy chicken. Took an extra 5 minutes to cook gluten-free. It was worth the wait. 6-28-2018, Went to eat there for the second time because the first was so successful. I ordered the same as last time but this time I was told that my food would take 40-45 minutes to make because they had to clean out a wok and the cooks don't stop to do that when they are busy. The server told me that I was better off to take my chances with an uncleaned wok. I passed and went to look for another place to eat. I doubt management would like the service I got today. Between 2 and 3 of MSP C Terminal. Have a few GF choices. I had the original spicy chicken. Takes extra time to make the GF dish (5-8 min, worth wait). Ask for the GF (Gold) soy sauce.
Really good food for cheap, however I was contaminated by the sweet and spicy shrimp. In addition to my celiac triggered response my family suffered from food poisoning for days after eating here. No only is this unsafe for celiac but everyone.
This location has really gone down hill in the last year or so. Dont even bother...
Spoke to three different staff members when we ordered, and still got extremely sick. No, thank you!
Food was descent. Didn't seem to be exposed to gluten but did see two of the three cooks eating from several customers plates and then continuing with the cooking without changing their gloves. My husbands General Tso's chicken was overdone with crushed red pepper to the point of it being inedible. I think I'd prefer to try a different location in the future.
Will NEVER come back here. We waited 30 min plus for our to go order to just find out they were out of shrimp. The lady kept saying she called my name right after I placed the order but I was standing at the counter the whole time so had she called my name I would’ve heard her. 4 other people had been waiting 15 min plus longer than we did. They kept saying how busy they were. But had 5 sets of couples in dining area, all already had their orders and 5 total in the TO GO area. They cooks kept calling out they just ran out of something or was fixing to run out of something. I have Celiac Disease so cant eat gluten and was about to cancel my order because of how disorganized the cooks were made me very nervous. If I could give negative stars I would give this place negative 5.
I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken, starting it needed to be gluten free. The person taking orders really had no clue what I was asking her. What I got did not appear to be GF and my receipt had no indication that it was supposed to be GF. Not wanting to end up with problems, I ended up letting my wife have it. As she ate it, she said I had made the right decision, and that she didn't think it was GF. I'd be very careful here, or avoid it altogether.
They have my favorite sweet and sour chicken, I have never had a allergic reaction to their food.
Typically don’t get sick from the g-free menu. However the last time I went I got sick. Just ask them to be extra careful and change their gloves if you’re celiac.
My husband just got out of the ER. He’s anaphylactic to wheat, and clearly the gluten free menu is a joke here. Not happy about his severe suffering, overnight ICU stay, and the bill that will follow.
Horrible. Staff is far from knowledgeable. Not helpful. Messed up the order three times. Asked to speak with management about this and was ignored.
I have gone to this Pei Wei several times with no problems however the last time, I noticed that when the the waiter put my food down he didn’t say gluten-free so I asked him to make sure it was gluten-free and it turns out it was not! He brought me back a new dish that was a gluten-free but if I hadn’t asked I would’ve consumed quite a bit of gluten. So just be sure to verify before you consume!
Worst Pei Wei I've ever had. Besides low food quality (burned rice, overcooked chicken), I suspect their GF practices are not on par with other PW's as I am currently laid out on the couch with my typical "glutened" symptoms. We also found PEANUTS in my peanut-allergic daughter's sweet and sour chicken! We won't be returning to this location.
It would be awesome to have GF Asian besides PFC, but this experience will likely be my last with Pei Wei... It was not busy, and the chef definitely heard that I have an allergy to gluten, please change gloves, separate cookware, etc... The chef (petite short dark haired female) waved off the allergy request like she got it, and I should know better when it appears to be blown off... I ordered A GF sweet and sour chicken with rice noodles and Vietnamese chicken lettuce rolls with sauce... I was told both were gluten free. I ate two spring rolls with sauce and had one bite of the GF sweet and sour chicken which seemed to be crispy like it had a coating... while I am not certain which dish it was, one or both of them were NOT celiac friendly gluten free.
