Very great restaurant! Food was very fresh and it was a great experience! Servers were very friendly and knowledgable about gluten free.
Middle of the road but decent food. GF menu has 6 items. I had spicy Pei Wei salad and my son had spicy Pei Wei chicken. When I said the chicken looked battered, I was told they use potato starch. It had a nice texture. Mildly spicy. I would do it again even with limited choices.
7-13-2018, great gluten free meal. Ordered the original spicy chicken. Took an extra 5 minutes to cook gluten-free. It was worth the wait. 6-28-2018, Went to eat there for the second time because the first was so successful. I ordered the same as last time but this time I was told that my food would take 40-45 minutes to make because they had to clean out a wok and the cooks don't stop to do that when they are busy. The server told me that I was better off to take my chances with an uncleaned wok. I passed and went to look for another place to eat. I doubt management would like the service I got today. Between 2 and 3 of MSP C Terminal. Have a few GF choices. I had the original spicy chicken. Takes extra time to make the GF dish (5-8 min, worth wait). Ask for the GF (Gold) soy sauce.
Really good food for cheap, however I was contaminated by the sweet and spicy shrimp. In addition to my celiac triggered response my family suffered from food poisoning for days after eating here. No only is this unsafe for celiac but everyone.
This location has really gone down hill in the last year or so. Dont even bother...
Spoke to three different staff members when we ordered, and still got extremely sick. No, thank you!
Food was descent. Didn't seem to be exposed to gluten but did see two of the three cooks eating from several customers plates and then continuing with the cooking without changing their gloves. My husbands General Tso's chicken was overdone with crushed red pepper to the point of it being inedible. I think I'd prefer to try a different location in the future.
Will NEVER come back here. We waited 30 min plus for our to go order to just find out they were out of shrimp. The lady kept saying she called my name right after I placed the order but I was standing at the counter the whole time so had she called my name I would’ve heard her. 4 other people had been waiting 15 min plus longer than we did. They kept saying how busy they were. But had 5 sets of couples in dining area, all already had their orders and 5 total in the TO GO area. They cooks kept calling out they just ran out of something or was fixing to run out of something. I have Celiac Disease so cant eat gluten and was about to cancel my order because of how disorganized the cooks were made me very nervous. If I could give negative stars I would give this place negative 5.
I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken, starting it needed to be gluten free. The person taking orders really had no clue what I was asking her. What I got did not appear to be GF and my receipt had no indication that it was supposed to be GF. Not wanting to end up with problems, I ended up letting my wife have it. As she ate it, she said I had made the right decision, and that she didn't think it was GF. I'd be very careful here, or avoid it altogether.
They have my favorite sweet and sour chicken, I have never had a allergic reaction to their food.
Typically don’t get sick from the g-free menu. However the last time I went I got sick. Just ask them to be extra careful and change their gloves if you’re celiac.
My husband just got out of the ER. He’s anaphylactic to wheat, and clearly the gluten free menu is a joke here. Not happy about his severe suffering, overnight ICU stay, and the bill that will follow.
Horrible. Staff is far from knowledgeable. Not helpful. Messed up the order three times. Asked to speak with management about this and was ignored.
I have gone to this Pei Wei several times with no problems however the last time, I noticed that when the the waiter put my food down he didn’t say gluten-free so I asked him to make sure it was gluten-free and it turns out it was not! He brought me back a new dish that was a gluten-free but if I hadn’t asked I would’ve consumed quite a bit of gluten. So just be sure to verify before you consume!
Worst Pei Wei I've ever had. Besides low food quality (burned rice, overcooked chicken), I suspect their GF practices are not on par with other PW's as I am currently laid out on the couch with my typical "glutened" symptoms. We also found PEANUTS in my peanut-allergic daughter's sweet and sour chicken! We won't be returning to this location.
It would be awesome to have GF Asian besides PFC, but this experience will likely be my last with Pei Wei... It was not busy, and the chef definitely heard that I have an allergy to gluten, please change gloves, separate cookware, etc... The chef (petite short dark haired female) waved off the allergy request like she got it, and I should know better when it appears to be blown off... I ordered A GF sweet and sour chicken with rice noodles and Vietnamese chicken lettuce rolls with sauce... I was told both were gluten free. I ate two spring rolls with sauce and had one bite of the GF sweet and sour chicken which seemed to be crispy like it had a coating... while I am not certain which dish it was, one or both of them were NOT celiac friendly gluten free.
Ordered sweet and sour chicken with brown rice from menu. Told the staff I needed it gf due to allergy. Felt sick a few minutes in and tested with my Nima-gluten found. Staff denied I mentioned allergy only that I requested gf rice. Really? At the airport...
Ordered GF sweet and sour online for pickup. When I got home found that the chicken had been breaded. Tried to call and was on hold for over 3 min. When the line was answered no one was on the other end. Could heard noises in the background. Tried to get someone's attention, even yelling into the phone but no one ever picked up. Hung up the phone and left a very poor review on their feedback site.
I have had 3 major exposures here at 2, different locations. They have GF menu but no standards of practice. Will never risk my health again .
Was served a non gluten free meal. They lied about it taking my dish away 2 mins after bringing it and saying they forgot veggies. Then brought me another meal 10 mins later saying the first was not gf. I went to higher ranks, but never received any satisfaction. Do NOT eat here.
I have eaten here a number of times without incident, but I have also been glutened here. I haven’t been back since because it feels too risky now. I would use caution if they are busy. I was glutened from carry-out, and it did not have the “gluten free” sticker on the meal, but the receipt did clearly say gluten free. Three stars because I ate here numerous times safely before the one time I got glutened.
Love the spicy chicken with brown rice! Also got a side of edamame and the gluten-free spring roll. Yum Yum Yum!
Been here tons of times never ever had a problem.
I eat here once a week and always enjoy the Pei Wei Original (formerly the Pei Wei Spicy). They seem to really understand gluten free, I've never had issues. Definitely recommend!
The GF chicken was so hard it was inedible and they didn’t have rice so they gave me rice noodles which were also hard. There wasn’t any sauce with the chicken. I’m never coming back. They also have so few options for GF it’s a shame. Why is this so highly rated? It’s misleading. It was a waste of money
I love Pei Wei, but be very aware. I ordered the gf sweet and sour chicken and they sent regular. I asked if it was gf and was assured it was, but I didn’t think it was, so had him double check and it wasn’t gluten free, it was the regular. This would’ve landed me in the hospital. Also, a couple of times later I got pink chicken, so just be extra vigilant.
The cashier taking my order basically made me feel like I was putting her out by asking for a gluten free meal. The menu is clearly marked though and it was good food. Do other than the less than helpful cashier it was a good experience. Note the that the shrimp us breaded in potato flour so that is disconcerting to see but they assured me it was safe. I think they are pretty careful in the cooking here.
I got the gluten free sweet and sour chicken and really enjoyed it. They have a handful of gluten free options to choose from, which is nice. It is clearly marked on their menu. I would definitely go back.
My daughter has celiac and we have been eating here for years with no problems. She gets potato starch battered chicken with rice and vegetables. They have kids meals as well as regular meals that are GF. They have a gluten free menu.
