They have a long list of flavors nicely marked with allergens, however when you get to the front of the line to place your order, there is a short list of flavors they are willing to scoop from a fresh container in back. That was disappointing. Ice cream was very good!

The Creamery has changed how they handle GF requests, and not for the better. They do have GF options, but the selection is pretty limited. Otherwise about the only thing they’ll do is wash the scoop for you. So, if you want a flavor not on their short list, you’re running a risk.

We asked at the register which ice creams were gluten free, they have a list that tells all of the allergens. The employee then went and changed gloves, got a newly sanitized scooper and scooped from a fresh container to ensure absolutely no cross contamination. Bravo Penn State!

We asked the cashier if they had gluten free cones and were told yes, then the person dipping presented us with a regular cone. He threw it away after we said we couldn't have it, but then we had to ask him to change his gloves and the scoop, etc. Be careful and watch them prepare it.
July 12, 2019. They have specific GF serving area and use dedicated 'Allergy free' containers. GF flavors are limited.

Two scoops and no problems. It's delicious!

Located on Penn State campus in the Food Sciences Building near East parking deck (enter parking on Bigler Rd). They have counter service, prepackaged ice cream as well convenience store and gift shop items. The cashier will provide you with a list of allergen friendly options that include gluten free, soy free, and nut free options. I did not see any dairy free options but, I didn’t ask. The person scooping your ice cream will follow procedure (hand washing/glove change) and scoop your ice cream with a dedicated scooper from containers stored separately away from front counters. The ice cream is handed directly to the customer. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The ice cream was rich, delicious, and the portion was huge. I didn’t have any ill effects.

We stopped in on a recent road trip to Pittsburgh. Gluten free/Allergy Free ice cream list is available at the cashier and GF orders are scooped from separate containers at the back of the creamery. You can watch your ice cream being scooped, so that's extra reassuring! We had a bowl of vanilla and a bowl of peach. Both were great! We'd always heard how good this ice cream was and were happy to get a chance to try it. It's definitely as good as you've heard! A must visit if you're anywhere near the area.

Delicious! Order an allergen cup and they put on clean gloves and scoop it from a safe container from the back. Talk to the supervisor for allergy questions.
The cashier actually has a list of their flavor a that DO contain gluten (which is a smaller list than the gluten free flavors). When paying, ask for an allergy cup and tell them what flavor and they will have it specially made from a new container with clean scoops and gloves in the back. SO worth the extra few minutes wait! My daughter has Celiac and has not had an issue here on SEVERAL trips.

Cashier has a full list of their gf ice cream flavors and you can order it as an allergy cup or allergy shake and they will be extra careful and open a new one in back to make yours with a cup from the middle of the stack, clean spoon clean blender. Takes a little longer but always certain I won't get sick!
I always get plain chocolate ice cream, chocolate milk, and lemonade. I haven't asked about their flavors of ice cream that are gluten free, but I'm sure there are more options then just chocolate. Not sure if celiac friendly.
