If you have Celiac, don't eat here. I worked at PF Chang's and saw food being prepared for GF people. The rice is kept in three buckets, one white, one brown, one fried. One spoon is used for all buckets, and when not in use, the spoon is put in a cup of water. The regular fried rice has soy sauce in it. If you get GF fried rice (or any rice), it's contaminated by the spoon. GF sauces are not kept separate from other sauces, and it's likely that soy sauce gets on the GF things. I've seen it happen. There are so many chances for contamination.
me and my kids are all celiac, and my teenage daughter is very sensitive. this is one of the few restaurants she likes to visit.
This location gets me sick every time, even when I ordered just the soup! Be careful!
They are very accommodating and can bend the GF menu here and there. I love Cantonese style food and chicken was the only option. I asked for shrimp and they did that for me. Yummy! They do serve GF food on a different plate from regular food so check for that. A friend was mistakenly given food with gluten. She noticed the plate right away and sent it back.
With my experience at PF Changs, I have been more than pleased! It's one of our favorite places to eat! They have a separate cooking area, plus there are certain plates that they put Gluten Free food on that will differentiate which is gluten and which isn't! Also, the wait staff is very knowledgeable about Gluten Free. A lot of times, they will ask you if you have "Celiac disease or Gluten Intolerance." Now, with all of that being said, This is a restaurant... if you have Celiac Disease, you are always risking getting sick if you eat out! But you have to live your life and enjoy yourself. :) I hope that everyone has a good experience here! We love it.
Update 11-2-14: Not sure what's going on at this location, but I've gotten sick after eating here the last few times. I've stopped going. No longer celiac safe, and I'm very disappointed as this used to be a favorite spot. Changing my rating. Original review: Love this place! So many gf options, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They will automatically bring you gf soy sauce in place of the regular sauce they bring as soon as you mention gf. Also, they only put gf food on round plates to help keep from making mistakes! Wonderfu,l quality food and service.
A few days ago, after being diagnosed with celiac disease, I stopped by. I've liked this restaurant in the past, so thought I'd check out the GF menu based on the other recommendations. I liked the fact that the menu had a separate section for the GF items, although the descriptions were lacking on that portion of the menu. There were enough GF items that I found something I enjoyed. It was crowded (a Wednesday night), and we sat in the bar area. The dinner was good, as usual, and the service prompt enough. I also liked the fact that they have separately marked plates they use for the GF items, as it provides a level of comfort that there will be less CC or mistakes made.
Wonderful GF menu. Ashley, our server, was knowledgable and very helpful. Can't wait to go back!!!!!
Gluten free combo rice was great!
My daughter ordered GF Mongolian beef and GF Chang’s Spicy Chicken and it was served on specific dinner ware for GF food. But then the waiter tossed fortune cookies at us, at the end, and my daughter almost opened it before asking if it was GF and the waiter said “the cookie is not, but the fortune is”.
As a gluten free establishment, it is pretty good. Not too many options, but the chicken lettuce wrap was very good. The ambiance is nice and fancy, but the food is on the pricey side. If you're a fan of meat and rice, you'll love the options, but you may be tough to find other options. Overall, the food was still very good and the service was adequate.
They have always been conscientious about my orders. Never had any reactions.
P.F. Chang's used to be my go to spot when I was traveling. Not any more. Probably like all chains, I have found that the quality varies greatly, particularly by region. The food was OK at this location, compared to others, but the celiac friendliness was at the very bottom and well below acceptable. They did seem to have a separate prep area that was used to fix my spicy chicken, but it came without rice. When I asked for rice, the person just pointed to the family style big bowel of rice that was in the middle of the table. I explained that was probably not going to work for me and asked if I could have my own rice from the separate prep area - and gluten free trio sauce. The person went to what looked like the regular kitchen and brought me back both. Not wanting to be too needy I did not question this and gave him the benefit of the doubt that he grabbed me the correct food. I should not have done that and was unable to finish my meal - and was sick.
Gluten free menu, awesome cross contamination awareness, great food and service! Very happy and felt safe eating there.
After asking for a GF menu and telling waiter and we needed GF food AND ordering a GF item they still brought a dish that was not GF. The person that brought the food caught that it was not GF and waiter tool dish back to kitchen and returned with what he said was a GF dish. Well to make a long and miserable story shot, apparently it was NOT GF. This was the worst gluten my wife has ever had. We have ate at PF Chang’s 5 or 6 times and never had a problem. This was so severe a reaction that we won’t eat there anymore.
Options are limited, but the service is quick and the food is consistent. Options are limited in this terminal.
Good gluten free food and no cross contamination. Safe for celiacs.
Have never had an issue with this place. Safe for celiacs.
I’ve had mixed reviews here.. ensure they mark it GF when you order, you get the proper bowl (with the black letters around it) and if you get the lettuce wraps proper red cups denoting the GF sauce.
Alright so yes they will work with GF but they cannot accommodate multiple food issues. I have Celiac Disease and I am very allergic to eggs, and lactose intolerant. I had only one option of meal and it was chicken lettuce wrap tacos which is an appetizer. They are very kind and accommodating but their menu is not safe for multiple issues.
Eaten here at this location several times and no reaction.
I have celiac disease. PF Chang's has a separate menu for gluten free meals. I have eaten there twice since being diagnosed. I have alerted my servers to my issue with gluten and have not had any problems.
I have celiac disease and very happy about eating at PF Chang. It is very good and they cook non gluten food in a separate wok to avoid any contamination. Thanks!
Good selection on their GF menu. Food comes out on special plates to designate GF. Staff was knowledgeable, very easy process.
I have been here a dozen times and never gotten sick. Separate plates indicate allergy, manager usually, but not always, brings them out. The only downside is that they seem to have taken the GF chocolate dome off the menu leaving no GF dessert choices. Ice cream is an option but I avoid ice cream when eating out because I can’t usually read the ingredient list for that item and barley malt is a sneaky one in ice cream sometimes. *edited to add: I had the coconut ice cream. The waitress checked the ingredients for me and no barley malt. It was yummy too!
We’ve eaten here multiple times, good food.
Dedicated gluten free menu. Also offered gluten free soy sauce. Great experience.
absolutely NEVER have gotten sick here-- what's even crazier is the quality of their staff :)
I’ve eaten here several times in the past year and haven’t had a reaction. The gluten free menu is good! It has pad Thai and fried rice, but also fried items like the spicy chicken. Delicious! Makes you feel like you’re part of the group and not just order the plain stuff! I’ll go back.
