First off I want to say I love pizza lab! Their pizzas are wonderful. They do offer gluten-free crust, they do use separate pans and they do use separate cutters! They will even do a glove change if requested and or wash hands if a pizza is noted as celiac. Unfortunately they also touch gluten crusts with their hands and put those same hands in the toppings when they make the pizza. I mean that is pretty typical in all pizza establishments so ok fine. But they do not have separate toppings set aside for gluten-free pizzas. They do use the same spoon when putting sauce on the pizzas out of the same container, the same cheese and use the same toppings from the same place that they get the toppings for the regular pizzas after touching regular pizza dough. And those of us with celiac or a severe allergy know if there is any remnants of gluten or wheat that got on their hands or on the sauce spoon from the other pizzas that is a concern for cross-contamination. I did work here at this establishment So I was able to make my pizzas when I ate there in a way that was using other toppings and get sauce from a fresh container. But for just customers that come in an out that is not usually an option given. If this was a website that was solely focused on the quality of food, environment with all the games for kids, and the taste of the food it would be five stars across-the-board because it is amazing pizza and friendly staff. But this is in reality a website for people with celiac and severe allergies to go to, to know whether is safe as far as all cross contamination practices to eat at… so for that purpose from somebody who has been a customer and an employee there I would say a three star review is efficient just specifically for cross contamination for those who are highly sensitive. I have celiac so I have to be straight up honest because I know how that feels to get cross-contamination and be affected by it. I mean that is what this app is for! Sooo If using the same spoons for sauce or the same cheese or the same toppings is a concern this place would be a gamble. The staff are very nice and they definitely care about their business and their customers. If asked there is a couple stuff there that I believe would get fresh toppings, fresh sauce from a new container and new cheese…. but not a guarantee with all staff. I would consider this establishment gluten friendly, but definitely not gluten-free. In all honesty though if you’re not concerned about the allergy aspect of it, I would refer anybody to go here when in the area. They have great pizza, they have a bar where you can get drinks, and they also have games that you can play with your children, and ice cream! My boys loved to go in here for that purpose and even if I wasn’t able to eat there or decided not to for this reason as just a customer, I would still take my kids and or recommend other people and friends to take their kids as it is a great family atmosphere and kids love it!
We stopped here based on other recommendations on FMGF. As soon as we asked if they offered gluten free crust, we were told yes and they would use a separate pan and utensils. My daughter (not GF) preferred the gluten free pizza (meatzza) over the regular pizza (chicken cordon bleu) we ordered. I just wish it was closer so we could return here!
