This is my old reliable for GF pizza. The crust isn't amazing, but if you're specific about being Celiac they take every precaution to avoid cross contamination. They have a great selection of specialty pizzas as well as creating your own. The GF stuffed shells are solid, too. If ordering delivery I recommend calling rather than ordering online since there isn't a good way to designate Celiac with their online form. I've never been dosed when dining in and the only times I haven't felt great after are when I ordered online.
The menu clearly indicated gluten free options (it has many). The staff was educated in gluten free options as well. I can’t speak to cross contamination, but the menu outlined that their pizza crust was made locally at a gf dedicated bakery. I highly recommend the Pizza Athena. It was one of the best crusts and pizza topping combos I’ve ever eaten. The Burning Pyro Pale Ale was great too! Highly recommend this spot.
Bruschetta has the best GF bread I’ve ever had! I have to say it was only the bread that was good. The tomatoes and cheese were average. Ordered the pizza and it was average at best. The GF pizzas are also close to $20. But I will always remember this place for the bread!
The staff at this location was very knowledgeable about Celiac and cross-contamination. The bartender even informed me that their ciders on tap are on dedicated lines to prevent cross-contamination from beer. I did not have a reaction after eating here. However, I feel that the $4 upcharge for a gluten-free pizza is rather excessive, hence only 4 stars instead of 5.
Had the gf stuffed shells with garlic toast and it was fabulous!! Going to wind it up with the Molly Sundae which I anticipate will also be wonderful. Kyle, my waiter, is the perfect mix of service and hands off so I can enjoy my meal and my book. I would definitely come again--Margharita pizza next time! Yum!
Contacted the restaurant and they prepare items in a dedicated space but bake the pizzas on the top shelf in the same oven. I’ve had their food just as I was diagnosed with Celiac, but before I knew about cross-contamination. The taste was fabulous. If they get a dedicated oven, that would support their dedicated space.
I have celiac and I have been staying off of diary, and I was thrilled with the pizza available at this place; it was delicious. It really means so much for someone to take the time to create great food that tastes so good and that doesn't make me sick to my stomach. I got no kickback from this place
Dinner tonight was AMAZING! I have Celiac and am dairy free as well. The staff was very knowledgeable and reassured me they take very serious precautions. They also offer a dessert-which is rare in the Celiac community that was both dairy AND gluten free. Loved my experience and wait staff.
We have been wanting to try their GF pizza for awhile but the $18 price tag on a 10 in. crust had kept us at bay. We finally but the bullet and gave it try and while our salads were amazing, the gluten free pizza did not taste good at all. The crust was so soggy that it fell apart before you could get it in your mouth. They did give us half off the GF pizza but that didn't really help the fact that we had to eat cereal when we got home cause we were still hungry. Very disappointed.
Pizza Luce does a great job with gluten free. I order the gluten free stuffed shells with a gluten free roll. Always a great experience! As a sensitive celiac, I have only gotten ill once or twice... Which is good for me! They do a great job!
Amazing food! So many options: pizza, pasta, appetizers, GF breads, kids meal options! Everyone was also very knowledgeable about GF. It was a little pricey, but I thought it was definitely worth it for the quality of food.
Overall outstanding experiences. They have so many gf options and have been told they have dedicated prep/ oven/ toaster for gf. The gf garlic butter rolls are delicious. The pizza is good but pricey. I have asked multiple times at weekend brunch about their toaster for the gf English muffins and have been told every time they use a separate toaster and I have never gotten sick. My only complaint is that one time for delivery we ordered a gf seasonal pizza with rinotta cheese as a dairy free option and am 100% sure the bacon on our pizza was vegan bacon which is not gf. I could tell just by looking at it and my husband (not celiac like me) ate it and confirmed it was the vegan bacon. Luckily I could tell before eating it. Overall very good experiences, though!
Duluth restaurant is a great place to eat! We had the gluten free Build your own pizza with dairy free cheese, and it was really good! The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us piece of mind about ordering. It was so nice to go out to eat and not have to worry about eating something that we would react to! Thank you, Pizza Luce for giving us food allergy people a safe and fun place to eat! It was a little small and crowded and the prices were a little spendy but otherwise a 5 star place. Will definitely be back when we are in town!
this was my first try at pizza since my dx....the pizza toppings were as i recalled from my BC (before celiac) days....the crust..kinda cardboardy....BUT the knowledge, understanding, compassion and...empathy from the waitress gave me full confidence in my order and I will 100% be back.
A lot of their pizzas are available GF. Staff well trained and very knowledgeable about celiac and cross contamination. It’s pretty pricey and the GF crust is only available in small but the pizza tastes very good!
The staff was super welcoming! I ordered a gluten free pizza that was delicious and also tried their gluten free brownies which are fantastic too! They also have a lot of dairy free options and a clear menu on what dishes are gluten free or can be made gluten free.
Staff were great! I asked a bunch of questions. They knew of Celiac and cross-contamination. They even double checked some ingredients to make sure the ice cream sundae was all GF. We will be back. My 9 year old son loved it.
I've eaten here a number of times, without incident (and I have celiac disease). The pizza dough is from a local GF bakery, and they keep the crust in its own pan from arrival through cooking, to avoid cross-contamination. I've also had the GF version of the artichoke dip, and it was delicious! They also serve local Brewing Brothers Pyro GF beer, and local cider.
Usually I trust this restaurant. Can't trust the brunch menu though. I decided to check the bread and hash browns with my NIMA. Thought at most I would get a trace amount reading but it came back full gluten. They gave me my meal free and substituted the GF waffle which tested not gluten. They don't really clean the grill, they just scrape it down so DON'T TRUST THE GRILL. Very disappointed since the restaurant has an owner who is Celiac
This restaurant is advertised celiac and gluten friendly. Their pizza crusts and bread that are gluten free are sent in from an outside bakery. They do not have a dedicated gluten free kitchen and they said items come into contact with flour. Very disappointed.
Went to Pizza Luce for dinner and, when I explained that I was celiac, I was given a GF menu. I haven't eaten pizza in years because it always gave me heartburn. But with this recent celiac diagnosis and having to eat gluten free, I have not had any heartburn at all. So my wife and I each ordered a GF pizza and shared each other's choices. Tasted great and no heartburn at all afterwards! The GF pizzas are only 10" however and cost as much as a large pizza on the regular menu. I can't give 5 stars as a result, but I genuinely appreciate the restaurant's efforts. The GF foods are made in a separate part of the kitchen. We even had a flourless GF chocolate cake for dessert.
Easy menu with lots of gluten free items. Our server, Amanda, was very knowledgeable and even went to double check with the head chef! My daughter loved her meal and she has Celiac disease so it's hard to eat out. We will come back to Pizza Luce for sure!
