Staff is knowledgeable about gluten allergies. I’ve eaten here a handful of times and never got sick. Thin crust only. Unsure if celiac friendly as I am only allergic to wheat.
The family that owns the restaurant has members with celiac. They are very careful. They use disposable pans, only put gf pizzas in the oven at a time, use a separate cutter, and open new bags of ingredients. We have eaten there many times with no issue. Make sure to call ahead to order the gf pizza or the gf members of the group will have to wait while everyone else starts eating.
Don't advertise it but if asked they will BAKE chicken for you that isn't breaded. Pizza is decent and crispy.
Gf crust!! To prevent cross-contamination they open new/fresh ingredient packages for gf pizza orders, cook it on an aluminum disposable pan, and serve to table in a box. Choose specialty pizza from menu - or build your own. I suggest calling ahead 20 minutes or so to order the gf pizza if the rest of your party will be doing the buffet (otherwise they'll be almost done before you even get your pizza!) Enjoy!
I have Celiac's and eat their pizza with no issue. The crust is the most similar to regular pizza that I've been able to find and they actually have a slew of toppings to choose from instead of just one. They have a separate area to prep and bake the pizza on something to keep off a regular pan. According to my husband the regular pizza is good too
GF.. 10 inch pizza was good.. Salad bar..
CROSS CONTAMINATION WARNING While the staff is super nice and helpful this restaurant is NOT celiac friendly. The gluten free pizza is cooked on the same surface as regular pizza. The ingredients are the same as well. the salad bar has options and is a decent deal for $7, but that's pretty much it. CROSS CONTAMINATION WARNING
My daughter is not super sensitive but she got incredibly sick here twice. I’m 99% sure they gave her a gluten crust even though I called the owner and he said they didn’t. It’s unfortunate because we have had luck at other locations and at this location in the past. We eat out frequently and she never has reactions from cross contamination.
Gluten-free crust, sufficient choices, and they try their best to reduce CC.
We arrived in Harlan having found this via the app, found they guarantee a gluten free pizza crust but could not guarantee GF toppings. WHATS THE POINT of a gf crust then!!!!
Have never been sick here! They cook it covered to avoid contamination and staff seemed to care about my allergy and avoid contamination.
Staff was willing to listen, but dedicated space makes it hard to not cross contaminate. Not many options in town with a group of young kids. Tried the GF pizza, daughter got glutened and down for the count for 2 days after.
The staff was knowledgeable. I ordered the buffet and They brought my gluten free pizza in a to go box to my table. I liked that because it didn’t have to go on the buffet table with the other pizzas. I took home what was left of my pizza. The gf pizza was good and I had no reactions to it. (Wheat allergy)
the gluten free pizza is delicious.
Pizza was great! It was a little burnt though.
Great pizza! Very knowledgeable!
The lady told me they could only Guarantee the crust as gluten free. I did not order from there.
My son gets gluten free pizza from here regularly with no issues.
I have gone here dozens of times and I have never gotten sick. Everyone seems to know about celiac disease and gluten.
I’ve ordered here lots of times and only got sick once. They were very kind about it and said they would use this as a teaching moment.
Cross contamination was not great. I had a stomach issue with in minutes. They do try including bring the gluten free pizzas out in a box to your table.
Nix this and probably all Pizza ranch. Using SAME OVEN and representative said she knows this is not appropriate but it's all we got. At the very least sensitive intolerant folks beware.
Love pizza ranch!!! Had the gluten free cheese pizza, salad bar and ice cream. Awesome.
I did the buffet, but only ate from the salad bar and hot bar. They have an allergen menu online so you can find out what is safe. They offer a gf pizza, but I don’t know how it tastes. The staff wasn’t very knowledgable, but tried their best to answer my questions.
Uses same oven as gluten, perham same prep area. Wadena separate prep area. Sad to call that gluten free. Unfortunately some less sensitive folks can handle that and rate it better.
The staff was very knowledgeable about their gluten free options. I ordered a gluten free pizza & was also able to eat a salad, broccoli cheese soup & potatoes!
They bring a gluten free pizza of your choosing to the table if you order the full buffet. Full salad bar with lots of options. Chicken and potatoes are not gf.
Was happy that they had their gluten free menu openly out, but there was cross contamination. The pizza was smaller than most gluten free pizzas and the slices cut tiny.
Gluten free pizza has been shrunk. I got a tiny, burned pizza. When I complained to the manager they did nothing. I complained to corporate and got a rude email that said they did nothing because I ate the thing. It was ask I was going to get. Find a better pizza chain! Two starts because I didn't have a reaction.
They offer gluten-free crust like the other locations I've been to.
Dont go here. They are not accommodating I had to ask for a refund for my pizza. The manager was extremely rude and kept interrupting me when I was trying to explain what I needed. The staff here is extremely rude and unhelpful. The place was trashed when we got here too, and the person who wiped down the table when I asked left it soaking wet. I will never come back here again.
We have ate their 2 times with my son who has celiac. I recommend calling 20 min ahead if you can because it take them 30 min to make a gf pizza. Its nice because they prepare gf pizza separately and cook gf pizza on it's own throw away pizza pan. So far so good for us. Also the ice cream is gf.
Not only do you have to pay for the buffet but you also have to pay $11 for a gluten free pizza on top of that. The crust was cracker thin and burnt.
The pizza there is decent. It takes about half an hour for them to make the pizza and so when im eating out with family who are not gluten free there always done eating before I even get my food. They do offer 1 free trip to the salad bar but I cannot confirm that It doesn't have cross contamination. I'm almost detonate there's cross contamination in there gluten free pizzas though because Every time I eat there I get sick.
Traveling and very Limited options in Mitchell. My only option was a special order pizza. The second worst GF pizza I’ve ever had. Undercooked. Hardly any toppings compared to those on the buffet. I could see the kitchen from our table - no gloves and rather sloppy technique. Hopefully I don’t get sick.
They said they are careful for individuals with celiac, flared up a few times, east 10th location that is
Super place for kids and good gf pizza! This is an Iowa staple and saved us many times when trying to find a safe place to eat.
Went for lunch. Ordered a gf taco pizza. An hour later I got a spinach and tomato pizza. Returned it, 45 minutes later got the taco pizza. Taste was just ok. And I didn't feel bad after eating a few slices.
Delicious gluten free crust! They bake their crust in its own disposable pan and place it in a box (even if dining in) to help prevent cross contamination. On their website it says they have specific procedures to avoid cross contamination, use separate sanitized utensils for preparation, and that their crust is certified gluten free. My daughter has celiac disease and I follow a gluten free diet as well.
Excited to come across a Pizza Ranch knowing they have GF ouzza and I've never had a problem with one. However, the staff at this one informed me that they "ran out of GF crusts a long time ago" and "the owner won't order more because it's a waste of money". I was so disappointed. I gave it two stars because they still provided the salad bar, as limiting as it was.
GF pizza with the typical cardboard tasting crust. No dedicated space so if you are sensitive beware of contamination
pizza is cooked and served on a disposable pan so it is not cooked on same pan as other pizzas. however it is prepared in same area as non gluten-free items so there is a risk of cross contamination.
Pizza is cooked in separate pan, they change gloves & use separate pizza cutters. Tastes good too
I was excited to have gluten free option where other family members would go. However there must have been cross contamination--I did get I'll after eating here.
I love this place. They have gf crust and use an entirely a separate sauce container for saucing it and you can choose whatever toppings you want. They also have a salad bar :)
I’ve been happy at other places when I could get a personal size gf pizza. We got a medium pizza and were able to pick from a page full of “branded” pizas. We got the stampede (aka the works) and my husband shared it with me; loved it even though he doesn’t avoid wheat. We each got a gf salad bar (which also has gf chocolate pudding). Cost a little more than the buffet but sooooo worth it! I’m not celiac, but for those who are, you should know they bring the pizza to your table in a box
Love getting pizza here! They make the gf pizza in the freezer with all new ingredients, so they aren't cross contaminated. The pizza is cooked on a disposable pan, they use a sperate pizza cutter, and then bring it out in a box, to minimize contamination. I eat here often and have never had an issue.
Great pizza. About 11.00 for a gluten free pizza. Some locations even suggest what toppings are gluten friendly (not near anything else etc).
you can get a gluten free pizza... just ask for it. the salad bar has lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, and nuts. the manager knew which dressings were gluten free
While the GF pizza was ok, it took way too long for it to be made. We sat a long time waiting for it.
It's definitely not the best quality pizza, but as of right now, Pizza Ranch is the only option for gluten-free pizza delivery in Ames. Their gluten-free menu has plenty of options, and I have never gotten sick from this place.
Everything is mixed with gluten free options. No safety about cross contamination
Tested 2 GF pizzas with Nima and both were safe. We ordered bacon cheeseburger pizza and sweet swine pizza. Look at the menu and allergy statements very carefully. Some items listed on their GF pizza menu are not GF according to their website. BBQ and Buffalo chicken were 2 examples. Still need clarification on that. Other than that, they did wonderful!
Loved the pizza crust and salad!! I am gluten sensitive the staff was so helpful and friendly!
