I went in last week during lunch time about 12pm. The service was not very good, took over 30 minutes to get food. My work party and I were late back from our lunch break. I had the gluten free pizza... I was sick all week.. I will not be returning.
They have inconsistent wait staff. I've been to pizza 23 and had great service. However today I went and the waiter we got was not helpful. I asked him about gluten free toppings and sauces and he said none of their food other than the crust was gluten free. He told us bacon wasn't a gluten free food and got very defensive when we tried to explain gluten free. We got up to leave and he told us to go be rude to someone else.
These people will been over backwards to get you truly gluten free food. I called ahead and talked to the manager. They have a great gf crust, crunchy all the way through even in the middle. They wash all utensils and pans and clean the surface before they make your food. I had the Hawaiian pizza on gf crust and hummus that they also baked a gf crust for. Delicious and without reaction! Make sure you say you have celiac disease or gluten allergy/intolerance. Just asking for gf will not get you the precautions.
I have been gluten free for 10 years now. It's always an experiment when trying a new pizza or food. I tried their pizza for the first time and this is my review; If you have not had their pizza, then you better! Hands down the best gluten free pizza, I have ever had. It's almost sinful, it's so good! Staff was friendly and prompt.
Please make sure your waiter and the kitchen understand that they should double-check to make sure you get a GF crust. My teenaged waitress served me a totally gluten crust pizza, though I was clear that I wanted GF. I don't know if it was her mistake or the kitchen's mistake, but I was so sick by the time I figured out what was going on that I couldn't stay to figure it out. She did not call the manager/owner to our table, charged me for the whole thing. I was very sick at that point, and very embarrassed. I paid. I left. This was in January, and I was sick for several weeks after. I accept that I take a risk by eating out, but pizza23 should not have a gluten free menu if they don't train their staff.
