Many items labeled gluten free on the menu. When I let my server know I had celiac disease and had to avoid all gluten he asked if cross-contamination was an issue. When I said yes he said he would double check my order with the kitchen as some items GF items contained ingredients fried in a shared frier. He and the manager came back and helped me chose an option that would be safe for me and I was able to enjoy some delicious tacos without getting sick. Both the server and manager were very friendly and accommodating in working with me to find a celiac-safe meal.
Fabulous experience here. There were many options and the menu was clearly labeled. Delicious!
Don't eat the chips or anything fried. Not sure that they used designated station nor cookware. I'm assuming cross-contamination is an issue. After I ordered and examplained that Im a celiac so I can't eat gluten. The waitress told me "someone just came in 30 minutes ago and they were celiac - they had a bad reaction." I appreciate the honesty I guess. She then brought corn tortilla chips for the table. (Shared fryer) I'm not sure the staff are greatly educated about C.D.
My fiancé is celiac and we’ve eaten here 3 times with no issues. All 3 times we told the server about the gluten allergy and they were appreciative to know about it. They’re menu clearly lists items as gluten free, and they have a great selection! The mushroom and carnitas tacos are our favorites!
Food was good and helpful staff but no dedicated fryer so I wouldn’t have the chips.
I have celiac disease and I am super sensitive and I never got a reaction from here. I told the waiter that I am allergic to gluten so he let me know what could be made gluten free. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my fiancée ordered the suiza enchilada also gluten free for me to try. Shrimp tacos were great. The enchilada was a little too spicy for my liking but perfect for my fiancée who enjoys spice. Food was great and service was great!
This has always been my go-to place living in San Diego and coming back to visit. We came back last night after like 10 months of being gone and basically our waiter said that there was VERY little on the menu that was truly celiac safe. He said all of the tacos were cross contaminated because of the melted cheese they put on the tacos. I tried to order the steak plate and he said that the steak seasoning had gluten in it (even though it’s marked as GF on the menu) and he even said that the chicken was marinated in soy sauce. So the only taco I could have had was plain pulled chicken or plain carnitas.
So I ended up ording a side of rice, a side of esquites corn and a side of carnitas meat. It was delicious but I HIGHLY recommend you ask for a manager to fully explain everything because we found it a bit confusing and also contradictory to the menu. So best check to be safe.
