Recently diagnosed with celiac and I can be very sensitive to gluten. I’ve eaten here twice with no reaction! I love how friendly and accommodating the staff is, they will change gloves and use separate utensils for everything. I finally have a safe place to grab food when I don’t have the time/ feel like making my own!! :) The manager and staff were very knowledgeable about the allergy as well, all green flags here!!
This was the worst service I've ever had here at this location. I always get a Queso Burrito Bowl. I always ask the worker to please change their gloves since they've been touching the flour shells. The workers have always kindly done so. Today the female worker said they are not supposed to take their gloves off, asked what my allergy was, said everything is gluten free. I said ,no the shells are flour so they are wheat. She continued to argue with me saying maybe they are gluten free. I said, NO they are not. She finally changed her gloves and made my order but didn't look happy. I shook my head in disbelief!
My experience highly depends on who is helping me. I work down the street and this is one of the few places I can (theoretically) eat with celiac. A couple days ago, I ordered chips and queso. (Did not know at the time that the chips are possible for cross contamination oops) but I asked the guy if he could change his gloves because I had celiac. He not only changed his gloves but went in the back and got me a fresh batch that no one had dipped in yet to decrease risk of contamination. And did it all with a smile on his face! Today I went to get a bowl. I told the girl the same thing that I have celiac and asked her to change her gloves. She shut me down and said I shouldn’t eat here because of the “buffet style” layout of the toppings. I was flustered and didn’t want to argue so I just didn’t get anything. It’s frustrating because the toppings on the bar do not contain gluten at all. It is so easy to accommodate for me, I’m not that picky. All I’m asking is for a simple change of gloves. I’m new to having celiac so maybe I’m just angry about that, but my interaction tonight was upsetting
I’ve gotten burrito bowls from here many times and have never gotten sick. No gluten-free menu in restaurant, but they have an allergen guide online that includes gluten (link below). I put “gluten allergy” next to my name when doing mobile order.
