I had a conference down the street and ate here for lunch 3 days in a row and didn't get sick. Each time the chefs came out and discussed my allergies and their procedure for avoiding cross-contamination (changing gloves, clean utensils, etc.) management also came by and oversaw that my food was prepared properly. Felt very safe eating here.
My sons both have severe food allergies, and one is a celiac. The manager came out and wrote down all request, discussed menu options, and food prep. It was amazing! We never get to eat out, and they made it completely possible! Totally made my boys’ night!
As everyone mentioned, extra precautions are taken with those who have allergies or an autoimmune disorder, such as Celiac disease. The chef personally reviews options with you and writes on a red ticket! They have a wid variety of options from chicken fajitas with corn tortillas, pasta, burgers and bbq sandwiches with buns. Make sure to let your waitress know you have an allergy prior to ordering the above mentioned items so special precautions can be implemented and cross contamination avoided!
GF options on menu, our server had a reasonable knowledge. He said they could modify a lot of the dishes & if I wished to speak to the Chef, he’d be more than happy to come out & discuss my needs. Had the Spaghetti Quinoa & was ok.
The hostess asked me about food allergies before she even took our names so that instantly put me a little more at ease. The chef actually came out to our table to talk to me after I told our sever I have celiac disease, he explained to me how everything is prepared separately and safely and that there’s even a dedicated gluten-free fryer! I ordered the quinoa pasta with vegetables, everything tasted great and I had no illness afterwards. I appreciated how helpful everyone was and I only wish more places were this meticulous.

They take allergies VERY seriously here. Our waiter informed me that waiters are not even allowed to take the order if you have an allergy, the chef must. The chef came out and asked what I wanted to have and told me how he could make it gluten free. They took my order on a pink sheet of paper. Didn’t get sick and felt very comfortable here!
We went here because the ratings were amazing and there were gluten free options. I had ordered the gluten free Mac and cheese and my brother had ordered regular Mac and cheese. First of we had been waiting for about over and hour for our food. Then when our food came my food was first a sever put a plate in front of me and said gluten free Mac and cheese. I was so hungry I just dug in. Then the main waiter brought over another plate of Mac and cheese and put it in-front of my brother and said gluten free Mac and cheese. By that point I had already partially ate the fragility Mac and cheese. The worst part was I knew I was going to be sick the rest of the vacation. I started to spit out the food. They rushed me over to where they gave me a drink to settle my stomach. The manager took 20 minites and finally came out! She started talking to us and I felt really sick. They asked if I needed medical attention. She was saying how this usually never happens. First of all this should never happen. If I had a different alergy and the same thing happened I could have gone into anaphylactic shock! This is why I do not trust this place and I don’t recommend it. The chef should ALWAYS bring out the gf so we can varify. Not only that but every single one of the staff should be educated on allergy’s and auto Amune disorders like celiac.
The chef came out and wrote a separate bright red allergy friendly ticket for me. He said he would work with me on whatever I wanted to eat and try to make it GF if it wasn't. They also have 2 items (a pasta and a quinoa salad) that are completely allergy free. Amazing service and very serious about allergies.
Not much to chose from on the menu, but the staff more than made up for this. The head chef came out and spoke with me. He handled making my food himself. I was very impressed by this. And my food was delicious!
When I told my server that I have food allergies, he went and got the chef, who came out and went over my allergies and my options with me. I had an extra helping of bbq pulled pork with raw red onions and cole slaw on a gluten free bun and a side of French fries which were fried in a dedicated fryer. They only had two types of cider to choose from but I had one to drink and it was great as well.
Waiter and chef came by the table to explain the full menu showing which items could be accommodated and which could not. He explained how he would make them celiac friendly. Very positive experience.
Our waitress told us all I could have that was gluten free was a burger with no bun. She said there was nothing else on the menu gluten free. I chose not to pay $14 for a hamburger patty so I did not eat. My kids love it there so I’ll go again, but I think your experience just depends on your server.
very limited choice on menu (2 indicated as allergy friendly, but chef is willing to make more options gluten free on request), staff quite knowledgable and double check with chef about food items, felt safe eating here
We had a wonderful experience here. We inquired about what items are safe for my celiac husband and the waitress said she would send the chef to come talk to us because they take food safety very seriously. The chef told us the fries are made in a dedicated fryer, any hamburger can be made on a gf bun and all but one of the pastas can be made with a gf quinoa pasta which is made separate in its own pots from the gluten containing pasta. The food was delicious and my husband did not get sick. We have eaten here twice now with no issues.
Once we informed our waitress that several members of our party were gluten free and another with dairy/egg allergies she immediately brought the chef out to discuss food options. They were extremely accommodating and we all enjoyed our meals.
Perfect place, very nice service, the chef came up to our table to know about my allergy/desease and showed us which options could be totally gluten-free prepared. The chef himself brought my hamburger with chips (baked on oven). They took care about cross contamination. It was a really good experience.
While there is not a separate GF menu, the chef and waiter came to the table and walked thru the menu noting every available option. In some cases, the substitutes GF items or seasonings in place of the standard menu options. Our family had a great time. Would come again!
I ordered the quinoa spaghetti and it tested positive for gluten with my NIMA. I asked the staff to make sure everything was safe and sanitized, however there was still Gluten found. I gave it 2 stars because the manager was very kind.
Terrible experience. Felt rushed the make a decision with very little guidance on my options. Waitor didn't know what was gf. Poor service.
Separate gf buns and pasta. Manager came out. Brought my food separately. Did not get sick.
If I could give this place a zero or negative, I would. Waited 20 minutes to speak to the chef, we then waited 40 minutes AFTER the rest of our party FINISHED eating to get our "GF" order. Everything was cold, meaning it sat for a while with who knows touching and/or contaminating our food. Needless to say, after spending over 2 hours at our table, we are now eating at D-LUXE BURGERS. Do NOT waste your time or money at Rainforest!
We only went here because the previous reviews looked like they might actually get it. The only appetizer we could get was a bowl of cheese and potato chips ($10.99? Really?). Disappointing. Our server was clueless about what was safe or not and had to go ask at least 5 times. We were told that a chef would come out and discuss options and that did not happen. Ended up getting what tasted like a microwave lunch (pasta and marinara). It was way over priced for a bowl of very bland GF Quinoa pasta with 2 pieces of chicken (maybe). $70 for lunch that was not worth eating. We actually ended up getting something later elsewhere because husband and son were so disappointed
Amazing. Chef came out to talk to us. My daughter was with a group who were having a set menu so they arranged burger and fries. Originally were going to oven bake fries but came back and said they were putting on the dedicated deep fryer for her. Only very happy 11 year old coeliac.
The staff & manager tried really hard, which is why I'm giving them a 3 instead of 1. But all it takes is one chef who doesn't care. I got a burger with a Udi's bun, but I am fairly certain that the fries were not in a dedicated fryer. Again the manager and server tried super hard and I honestly don't blame them.
Loved the food. Waiter was knowledgeable and personable. I usually never go out to eat because I think it’s playing Russian Roulette at most place but I have eaten here 3 times and each time it was excellent and I did not get sick.
A similar situation to the T-Rex restaurant. The chef will come out and tell you everything that’s safe and what can be modified. They have a GF fryer and GF buns for sandwiches. Just remember to order your fries without seasoning, as the seasoning isn’t safe.
We were looking for gluten-free on the Riverwalk and vegetarian and found the gluten freeo Anaconda pasta at rain Forest Cafe. The food was surprisingly good and even had vegetables in it would seem to be difficult to find in Texas. Those who are seriously gluten-free beware, they serve a slice of focaccia bread with this allergy friendly meal.
The waiter wasn’t so knowledgeable and made me worry, but the chef came out and discussed his procedures with us. Ended up doing well and having no issues. Docked a Star because the waiter was completely unhelpful.
My whole family is gluten free and the manager took great care of us. She asked all the allergies and made sure all of our meals were made correctly. I am VERY sensative and did not have a reaction. Very pleased!
My daughter ordered the mini burgers no bun and they baked her fries for her. The manager was very helpful and let us know her food would be on a bright pink ticket so everyone was aware of her allergy in the kitchen!
Waitress told us the chips are not GF because they're not in a dedicated fryer. Then the chef came out & said they are GF but he didn't seem to understand cross contamination. We paid for our drinks & left.
Waitress got the chef, but we had to wait for ages for him to appear before we could order. Girl had burger with GF bun and white rice (was offered fries, but wanted something else). Had steak with vegetables and mashed potatoes. Food ok.
I can’t begin to explain how awesome our experience was. We requested a GF menu and they sent the chef out who walked us through our options. He was wonderful. Has a dedicated fryer. He has 9 fryers. Onion rings not an option here but they were on menu for my burger and he told us he would remove them. Great atmosphere for kids.
They have a small gluten free menu (buns & pasta) but it’s delicious. Waiter advised us even though they have a dedicated frier it is not recommended for celiacs since the baskets are not dedicated to a certain frier. He recommended the fruit or veggies as a side instead of fries. He double checked with the chef about the pasta & reconfirmed it’s safe for celiacs before ordering. He also brought out her pasta separately to avoid any cross contamination. Food was good & safe for my little celiac.
