Great experience! The chef came and spoke with me about what I wanted. He wrote my order on a special sheet. They have a gluten sensitive menu upon request. I got the the Rainforest Burger. It was pretty decent all things considered. Not the biggest fan of the frites but they give you a good amount of food and it definitely fills you up.
They take food allergies very seriously. They ask at check-in, the wait staff ask again after introducing themselves, then bring out a separate GF menu. If there is something you prefer on the regular menu they will try to make substitutions to accommodate. The chef came out to personally take my order on a specialized allergy order pad. It has the top 5 allergens to check off then a space to right in any other allergies. I have celiac plus I’m allergic to wheat, dairy, soy & egg. The chef was very nice and made my meal exactly as requested. I often end up bloated from eating out, my allergist thinks it is from preservatives in processed foods, but I did not have any issues last night after eating the Anaconda Pasta minus the cheese. I wish all restaurants took as much care in serving safe meals!
Such an amazing place for anyone with an allergy! When I alerted the waiter I had a gluten allergy, he immediately went to get the chef. The head chef came over and personally spoke to me, explaining that they can alter almost anything on the menu to match my allergies. They write up a special pink ticket for your order. I ate here twice over my vacation and never got sick.
The chef came to the table and was sure the things I wanted they could do it without gluten & cross contamination! I ate the nachos they only change the tortilla chips to potatoe chips & they were delicious! And also de salmon with kale omg it was the best! I was very happy and I didn’t get sick!
They do not have a specific gluten free menu, but just tell your server you have an allergy. They will send a chef out to talk to you directly about what to order & how they prepare it. It was really nice to have someone be so helpful since we are new to learning the gluten free life.
Appreciate the manager coming out to confirm my choices (also there is a GF menu even with dessert) but felt like the food wasn't good. I got the sirloin, mashed potatoes and veggies. Steak was super tough and sides were cold . I know they are sister restaurants to T-Rex and prefer that place better. Both take good care of allergies though. The pasta sounded good but I try to avoid dairy too.
This is such a fun restaurant! It feels like you’re dining in the jungle 🗿🌴🐒🦧🌺🌳The food was really delicious. I told our waitress I was gluten-free and the head chef came out to talk to me about my diet and what I wanted to eat. He made me the chicken sandwich with swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomatoes on a gluten-free bun 🍞 🍔 with a side of fries. They understood my allergy fully and worked with me. Fun drinks too and souvenir cups to collect!
Although they don’t have a GF menu, the server had the cook come right to our table and he gave us suggestions. He could make most of the items on the menu GF except Mac and cheese because the sauce is prepackaged and has flour in it. They have GF pasta and GF rolls for burgers. Also have dedicated fryer for fries and one for seafood for that allergy. We were very pleased with all the options available.
Amazing service, Disney apparently has a policy that if a member of your party has an allergy a chef will come to your table to discuss your order with you. So flexible and kind. Variety and can do focused. Food order came out separately to avoid cross contamination. Highly recommend
They had a manager take my order and they took all the precautions. They did not have many options so I had a GF pasta. It wasn’t anything special but at least I did not get sick. No appetizers or desserts were GF. The wait was also incredibly long (even with a reservation) around 45 minutes from order to food.
Employees were very knowledgeable and friendly. Provided a separate menu for Gluten free. Highly recommend this restaurant!
If I could give this place a zero or negative, I would. Waited 20 minutes to speak to the chef, we then waited 40 minutes AFTER the rest of our party FINISHED eating to get our "GF" order. Everything was cold, meaning it sat for a while with who knows touching and/or contaminating our food. Needless to say, after spending over 2 hours at our table, we are now eating at D-LUXE BURGERS. Do NOT waste your time or money at Rainforest!
They had a gluten free bun!! First restaurant I’ve been to in Florida that had one!! The chef had desperate fryers and THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE DESSERTS!! 47/10 honestlyyyyy
I can’t begin to explain how awesome our experience was. We requested a GF menu and they sent the chef out who walked us through our options. He was wonderful. Has a dedicated fryer. He has 9 fryers. Onion rings not an option here but they were on menu for my burger and he told us he would remove them. Great atmosphere for kids.
Excellent service and food options. Inform your waiter that you have a food allergy and the chef will come out to your table to take your order. They can make pretty much everything gluten free (gf pasta and buns). They will cook your food completely separately and bring it out away from the other food!!!
I have celiacs and multiple allergies to the point where I almost never eat out. The head chef came out (chef Ortiz) and looked at my allergy list that I brought and discussed with me what he could make. He created the most delicious meal I have had at a restaurant! I didn't get sick and it was such a relief to be able to enjoy a meal with family on vacation!
The staff seemed very helpful, but that wasn’t enough. Someone dropped the ball and I was sick before I could walk to the bus station.
I wasn't expecting much, but the food was pretty good. My five star rating, though, is based on the service. I told my waiter I had Celiac and he said he'd bring the chef right out. Chef came out and told me to ignore the GF menu and instead tell him what was on the normal menu that looked good to me and he'd tell me how he'd adjust to make it GF. Totally went above and beyond to hook me up. Highly recommend.
Ordered the soup gluten free, came out with wheat flour noodles and wheat flour garlic bread. The chef did not come out. The manager did not come over. I could have ended up in the hospital, had I trusted them. The service was horrendous. Took 35 min to get my food and just had to wrap it up to go.
Update:
Just had a bite of the chicken sandwich that I ordered on an udi's bun, they didn't remove the tendon in the chicken breast so I bit into this enormous hard disgusting thing. I will never in my life go to a rain forest cafe again!
Excellent service, the chef actually came to our table and told me that he could pretty much do anything on the menu gluten free except for the natural burger which was a veggie burger so plenty of choices! !
Chef came out to talk to me. They have gluten free buns and they were delicious! I didn't have dessert so not sure if they offer any gf options there. I would go backck.
Your GF choices in downtown disney, aside from some red meat choices are Tuscan chicken with mashed potatoes, shrimp skewers without butter sauce or rice (mashed potatoes instead) or salmon on top of potatoes with veggie side. French fries can be baked to be gluten free as well.
What a disappointment! We went here 6 yrs ago, & had the most amazing experience! This time, not so much. They didn't hv half the GF menu they did 6 yrs ago. Almost everything we asked for, they said they couldn't make GF? Tortilla chips? Can't be made GF at Disney? My daughter got a burger on a GF bun, only ate 2 bites. I got a turkey sandwich on GF bread w/ potato chips. It was sub par, & pricey.
The server and chef were excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The bar manager was another story. He tried to tell us my 10 year old couldn't have an icee because it contained gluten. I pulled up the Icee website to show him it was gluten free. My daughter gets these all the time and she has Celiac disease. He was very rude and acted as if he knew more about my child's disease than I do. Not only did he sat she couldn't have it, but offered no other options. She was to watch her two sisters drink their icees in their souvenir cups, while she drank diet coke from a regular glass. Needless to say, she got her icee AND the glass. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or server. In that area, 5 stars.
Great experience! The server asked for one of the chiefs to come out to speak with me in regards to my allergies. He stated what was on the menu for Gluten Free and came back to check in. Great serves and the food was awesome! Defiantly recommend if in Down Town Disney.
The server mentioned that there were two celiac bartenders who eat there frequently. My food came late and she said it was because they put glutened fries on my plate, so she watched them like a hawk the second time and I had a wonderful sandwich on a GF bun, no CC and no consequences! They also said they can bake fries so they’re 100% free of CC. If you ask what items you can have, the servers are very knowledgeable (there’s more than just the pasta!) Can’t wait to go back sometime!
They do have a separate GF menu. They are somewhat knowledgeable. The initial salad brought out to me included Croutons but they quickly corrected that mistake. I got the steak and shrimp. I didn’t have any issues. Food was okay. Steak was cooked as I asked so that was great.
I ordered the burger as I was suspicious of the pasta and I was happy with my choice! Burger was great and non contaminated fries. Before eating the chef came to my table to ensure me that I was gonna be 100% safe and he made sure he took extra care because of my celiac disease. I did not get sick at all!
I looked up their menu in advance to be sure they had GF options. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich on a GF bun, no sauce (which has gluten). They offered to bake the fries but I’m not celiac and don’t normally have cross contamination issues. So I didn’t request that. But it’s two hours later and I definitely got glutened.
