This is a plant based cafe. While they do not have a gluten free menu, they are very knowledgeable and many items can be prepared GF. The head chef is sensitive to issues of cross contamination. I successfully had a falafel (fried in a dedicated fryer) plate with extra vegetables as opposed to GF pita bread. I also had a berry cheesecake dessert that did not cause issues. I’m highly sensitive; so, I ask many questions (which they don’t mind) and have experimented with items to order.
Went here for dinner- the staff was very knowledgeable about cross contact and their main fryer is dedicated gluten free. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and they cooked it in a separate pan. I felt very safe and the people were super nice and conscientious about gluten.
Red Emma’s is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and coffee shop that is collectively owned and operated. The menu has the gluten free and gluten free optional items marked. Which is a good portion of the menu. The servers and bartenders/baristas are knowledgeable and double check with the kitchen when they’re not sure. Their baker has been gluten free for 15 years and a subsequently most of their desserts are as well. The kitchen staff is well educated about cross contamination and they have a gluten free dedicated fryer and grill!
