They are getting better, but wouldn't say Celiac friendly.
They do not have much of a gluten free menu. Very disappointing.
Food was good! They have a great allergen menu. It's online. Have the manager help you. You choose the allergens and it helps you pick your food. (The paper menu does suck so I'd suggest the online allergen menu website).
No gluten free pasta or the like, but you can at least know what doesn't have gluten (or soy, etc). The waitress was a little shocked at the various allergens in the food.
Waiter had no knowledge of celiacs or gluten free. He kept bringing us bread......two baskets of bread towering in the middle of our table even thought I kept explaining we couldn't eat wheat. No precautions were taken to insure our safety. I am so ill today....we will never return.
I was very disappointed with their gluten free "menu". It was just a huge paper list of everything on their menu that listed out every allergen. The food was good and the waiter was knowledgeable about celiac.
They have a few different choices. They have come out with a new menu but don’t have a gluten free menu so they gave me the allergy list binder so I had to play detective to figure out what I could have. I ended doing the pick 2 main dishes and a side combo. I had shrimp scampi with steam broccoli. That was enough for me and tasted great!
I haven't been to Red Lobster in years. I asked for the allergen guide and they brought me a notebook with all the major allergies. They even had a column that indicated a higher level of possible cross-contamination because of how it's prepared. I got a loaded baked potato and coleslaw (neither marked for cross-contamination). I did not get sick. It's good to know that's an option if needed.
Allergen binder provided upon request, server seemed half-knowledgable but nice about it. Not sure if sensitivity was noted to kitchen or not, but he asked regarding gluten in the dish I had wanted (it was from the orzo rice, which I don't want anyways). I've always gotten the scallop & shrimp skewers with double scallops instead, no rice. The binder was a little long and overwhelming, no dedicated menu, but it works. Don't feel the best after the meal, but maybe it was just from all the oils.
Years ago they were good. Now they’re terrible. Staff had no understanding of gluten issues, food was terrible with small portions, everything is overpriced, & manager didn’t care about customer concerns. The chain’s going bankrupt for a reason. Run away.
