Only thing made in the fryer are the French fries. All sauces (except the vegan satay sauce) are gluten free. Staff can answer questions. Large portions for a good price - I got a medium fries and it was too much food for me. I tried the spicy mayo and the garlic sauce, both were good but next time I think I would prefer to try the dill sauce instead of the garlic sauce.
We went to this restaurant with the idea that I would only be able to eat chips.
However, when we asked the chef if there were any gluten-free options, he offered to make me the burger topping of my choice without the bun (and without the cheese).
Normally I don't eat meat, but I made an exception for this trip as I manage to find little to eat with my intolerances (there also seem to be vegetarian alternatives).
Good for quick snack. Have 5 fryers so chips are safe. Server was clued up and went over the menu explaining that I could have the burger without the bun.
On this occasion I just had chips (which were lovely but just basic chips). All the sauces appeared to be gluten free and I was told to stay clear of the peanut sauce as I have a nut allergy.
It is very expensive we had 1 medium chips, 1 large chips and 2 bottles of gluten free beer (gull lite) and we were £27.
Was still great to feel normal and be able to have beer and chips.
This place is burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries. They do not have gluten free bread or buns so there are no gluten free burger options unless you get it bunless. The chicken and onion rings are not gluten free. Only the fries are gluten (regular & sweet potato) and most of the sauces.
The fries here were very good. I got mayo as my dip. However, there are burgers cooked alongside the fries, so be careful to make sure that the people making it are aware of cross contamination. The milkshakes they serve are not gluten free because of cross contamination in the blender.
UPDATE: Gul Lite ‘gluten free’ beer contains barley malt extract and it’s basically the only ‘gluten free’ beer being sold throughout Iceland. My joints are killing me and I now have the Big Sad. Brain fog and full body crash to follow. Sensitive celiacs beware (fries should still be fine though)
Best fries in Iceland. Awesome selection of dipping sauces. Great music.
Freshly cooked hot chips with a choice of dips - what more is there to say? Really hit the spot at lunchtime when I wasn’t ready for a big meal. Separate GF fryer - server aware of CC and which dips I could have (only one off limits was the satay). Wish I could have gone back!
I just got the fries and My fiancé ordered a chicken sandwich(not gluten free). Fries go in a separate fryer and every time they handled an order they switched gloves without even being asked. Fries were very good and I didn’t get sick. Felt very safe! ^** update - ate here 3 times and every time they took precautions and I was able to enjoy food without any worry!
So delicious! Once again, I asked if there was any wheat to the waiter at the counter. He replied, “wheat? You mean gluten? Yes, the fries are gluten free.” I think most of the sauces are gluten free too. The vegan mayo is not gluten free. We loved the spicy chili and garlic sauce.
