Croissants and warm biscuit with butter were AMAZING! Make sure to ask for both warm, the biscuit is kinda dry when it’s cold. We also got sandwiches that were only meh, not very flavorful and kinda dry. Overall good experience! Wish I could have tried more baked goods.

You CANNOT leave DC without stopping here for a few baked goods! And be prepared to leave with a bag full of goodies! It’s a 15 minute walk from the National Zoo through the cutest town called Adams Morgan. The bakery is dedicated gluten free and caters to many other allergens (egg, dairy, soy, and nut allergies are labeled online) and there are many vegan options. Do yourself a favor and get at least one biscuit and croissant! All of the other treats I’ve tried so far were also very delicious! My gluten eating family loved everything too, especially the bag of 6 very large, chewy chocolate chip cookies ($10). They also have cupcakes, cheesecake, pies, dinner rolls, buns, bagels, scones, and much more! Amazing!

So brilliant to walk into this bakery where my daughter could try anything that looked good to her! We had the ham and cheese croissant, the biscuit breakfast sandwich, and a Panini with pesto and turkey. All excellent. And great coffee too!

Get there early if you want something specific (like a croissant)! I went in close to closing at 6, and they were sold out of many things. They are very popular!
Super happy to find a gluten free bakery near my hotel while in DC. The breakfast sandwich I had was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Very pleasant employees on both my visits. Ham and cheese croissant was highly recommended and did not disappoint. I went back for more of these. The cinnamon roll was very tasty. The tiramisu was ok- maybe it wasn’t mascarpone as it may have been vegan- I didn’t look that closely. The carrot cake cupcake was very dense and dry but frosting was good. Maybe it was also vegan. The texture reminded me of muffins made with coconut oil rather than dairy. I will definitely go back when I am in the area.

Best GF bakery I’ve been to. The cheesecake is really amazing. The ham and cheese croissants are very tasty. The chocolate croissants are super yummy and made with good chocolate. The dough is a bit dense but for gf they are awesome. The brioche bread is really great too. Having a dedicated gf bakery with friendly staff is such a great experience!

Really wanted to love this place. Maybe I’m too recently diagnosed with celiac and am comparing with gluten-containing baked goods, but I really wasn’t impressed. Croissant was doughy and dense, and bagels were small and just okay (another bagel and biscuit my group had were dry). Obviously appreciated the variety, but it left me feeling like I could learn how to bake these things better.

Highly recommend the croissants! Probably the best gf one I’ve ever had. I had the ham and cheese and chocolate. I also tried the cinnamon roll, the dough was pretty good but the frosting was not great. The eclair was fine. I also got a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit, I would recommend that as well. This bakery is in Adams Morgan, about a 20 minute walk from a Metro stop.

I want to kiss every person who works here tenderly on the forehead. I had a ham and cheese croissant sandwich for the first time ever and my GOD was it so good. Of course I had to get the bagels, both a fresh one and frozen ones, so I’m very excited to have those. I had to kook up the bakery online again afterwards just to make sure it was really gluten free. Also, amazing prices but worth every penny either way!

Think I got glutened there on 11/11/2022. Maybe it was the bagels. I didn't eat anything else different from my normal food, and I am really careful. This is the first time in over a year since I got diagnosed that I think I got glutened

I got a BLT for lunch, I was starving and devoured this lol. The sandwich was a little pricey, but I feel like they did not skimp on bacon and the bread was very thick. I enjoyed it a lot as I don't get something like this often, however I wish it came with a side. I also got a pumpkin cheesecake slice, this was such a decadent treat, I highly recommend! One item to note about the Dupont Circle location is that they recently done away with their seating. Since we were touring on the go we had to go sit in a Subway nearby as there were not many benches. I would recommend calling beforehand and double checking if you want to eat there or having a place lined up to eat for breakfast or lunch. Lastly I got a croissant and OMG the first one I've had in awhile, loved it!

Croissants And cinnamon rolls are good but the bagels are pretty bad. I've had better frozen bagels at home. They were stale tasting and hard to chew.

10/10. Huge variety of pastries and baked goods. We had the everything bagel breakfast sandwich, a vegan raspberry tart, and chocolate croissant. Each bite was better than the last.

This place was epic. Everything is dedicated GF, but the variety and tasty nature of it all. My partner and I got the best stuff here. It is take out only, no dine in, but just outside is a sidewalk area you can eat.

Their croissants are to die for and the BLT never disappoints. Even my non-celiac friends are fans and that says a lot! This place is a must if you’re gf and in DC. I will say sometimes their waits are long if you’re ordering prepared foods, but it’s always worth the wait IMO.

Loved it. I am no celiac, my two sons are. Every one in the family found their food excellent. I ate a pizza, if I was not aware it was gf, I couldn't taste the difference. The only downside, there is no room inside to eat.

The whole bakery is gluten free and there's sooo many options to choose from. I had the raspberry cheesecake, cinnamon roll, and ham and cheese crossiant. The crossiant was by far my favorite it was so good. The best tasting baked goods since my celiac diagnosis! Will go here again!

The biscuit egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was fantastic. Hot and tasty and the biscuit was buttery and flaky. However the tiramisu was gritty and not enough sugar. The eclair had a darker chocolate, not enough filling and not enough sugar. They were just ok. I have some scones to try. Highly recommend the sandwich. Didn’t have time to try other things!

I thought this place was just ok. There are so many incredible restaurants in DC that can do gluten free; I wouldn’t come back here. The breakfast sandwich was ok. The butter bill biscuits were good, but the egg was like a block.

100% gluten free facility. Sandwiches, pastries, desserts & pizza. My favorite is the warmed up chocolate croissant š„ with morning coffee. I also love the breakfast sandwich - their biscuits are amazing!! Definitely get the breakfast sandwich on the biscuit - it is much better than the bagels, but those are pretty good for GF too.

Felt very safe eating here. The Jalapeño Cheddar Bread is outstanding! Moist with the perfect amount of heat and zero gluten free after taste. The croissants were good but on the heavy side. Probably best when toasted. Cupcakes are very good too.

I’m going to preface my review to say that I own a gluten free cottage baking business in the Chicago area, so my review is coming from the perspective of being a business owner and a gf baker.
Anyway, I used to live in northern VA, then moved to Chicago when I got married. We just visited the DC area to see some friends and decided to stay in a hotel downtown. I was so excited to see a gf bakery just a bus ride away from our hotel and I studied the menu (I’m also soy free, so I wanted to be familiar with the soy free choices, too) for a couple of days until we had time in our schedule to go.
My husband and I went for breakfast on Saturday and my plan was to get the ham and cheese croissant and a cinnamon bun. I ordered them and my husband got a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit. The ham and cheese croissant was just ok. I could see flaky layers so I know it was well made but I think it would have been much better if it had been warmed up. It was room temperature so the texture was hard and a bit chewy. My husband offered me a bite of his warm biscuit sandwich and I immediately wished I had ordered one of those!
The cinnamon bun was also room temperature and had the same hard and chewy texture. I think if we had lived in the area and could have been able to warm it up in an oven or microwave it would have also been much better. The icing was piped on and looked more like buttercream (I’m used to seeing a glaze on cinnamon buns, so I found this a little confusing). The bun was not very sweet and would have benefited from a sweeter glaze to balance the flavors.
Even though my croissant and cinnamon bun were just so-so I had to return the next day to get a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit of my own. It was heavenly! The biscuit was warm, flaky, and buttery and was the perfect compliment to the bacon, egg, and cheese! Yum!! We also bought a banana nut bread, a mixed berry scone, and some vegan (soy free!) chocolate chip cookies for our trip home. My husband and I split the scone after finishing our yummy breakfast sandwiches and were disappointed about the taste and texture of the scone. The texture was gummy (that happens from over mixing the dough), and there was a strange bitter flavor like maybe too much leavening (baking powder or baking soda) was used along with not enough sugar. My husband was really put off by the flavor of one of the berries. We each had a cookie on the plane and we both agreed they were good (and very large! We should have split one!). They had a chewy texture and were sweet but not overly sweet. I was surprised they sold such large cookies for only $9.95 for 6 when everything else on the menu was on the expensive side. The banana nut bread was the most disappointing item of everything we bought. I sell banana walnut bread, too, and I put walnuts in the batter and sprinkle some on top. This banana “nut” bread only had nuts sprinkled on the top! Why not put some in the batter? It was also very dry and didn’t have much banana flavor. I had noticed that it was not covered with any kind of plastic wrap or cellophane, which could explain the dryness. Just disappointing.
The staff on both days were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return to Rise on my next visit for another bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit (or 2!), some vegan chocolate chip cookies, and probably try other soy free options they have, but I will be sure to avoid the banana “nut” bread and the mixed berry scone, and I’d ask if certain items could be warmed up.

This was outstanding. We has Classic breakfast sandwiches on everything bagels with bacon, cheese and tomato. Served hot and made to order. We went back in to buy bagels to take home. Snacked on a Nutella Brownie, excellent as well. A little pricey, but no more so than other dedicated GF joints. Highly recommend.

Gluten free..yes
However I'd for just not eat the food.
I'd heard amazing things about this bakery so i went all out getting treats and food.
Still no dine in options and pretty much no seating anywhere outside in the area.
Got a pizza with different veggies on it and vegan cheese. The cheese was the best part. The pizza crust was very powdery and I've made better at home being gluten free for only three months now. Was really disappointing, but it wasn't bad to eat. Just so much powder.
Then we got a vegan cookies and creme cupcake: cupcake was kinda dry and dense, meanwhile the creme was so liquidy that the wind was blowing and LITERALLY blew off the creme into my hand. Creme tasted alright though, but cupcake was almost inedibly dense, but if i paid $50 for food I'm gonna eat it.
Anyways we got the vegan banana nut bread and an eclair, both were just meh. I couldn't taste anything of the nut bread but my bf said it was okay ish. The eclair we were both meh about. Happy tart bakery in falls church is just such a better option. I get this might be a good place for other people who haven't tried better. But omg was just so disappointed. Probably cause i had better elsewhere first.
Prices were crazy...$18 dollars for a very small pizza. Then with three desserts it became $50...okay...sadness
Really just not recommended
