This place is a shithole. I walked in as a new customer and asked if the food was safe for my celiac son. An old man behind the counter was so rude and nasty and was completely annoyed that I asked the question. I have a right to question the staff in a restaurant to make sure food I'm paying for is safe. Absolutely disgusting attitude and place looked dirty too.
so great to find an Italian restaurant that knows how to make good, flavorful gluten free food. SO good.
I stopped by yesterday for some dinner for my family including my daughter who is newly diagnosed with cd. we got the gf pizza which she said was delicious and she loved the gf chicken quinoa soup. we also had the non gf baked ziti which my husband and I agreed was delicious. Francine was very sweet and helpful. we are lucky to have such a great option in our community.
AMAZING gluten free options!! GF pizza, meatballs, rice balls, pastas, dinners! Meatball pizza was delicious
Such delicious food!
The best gluten free pizza I've found. Love this place!
When I have a functioning that I know will not have GF options available I always order from here to bring or have delivered. The GF shrimp parm dinner is my usual go to and if I'm in the mood for an appetizer I almost always get the GF rice balls. Soups are excellent too. Great staff and knowledgeable! I have celiac and have never once had an issue.
The service was absolutely awful!! My son has been GF for a year so needless to say I was very excited when I saw their menu specially since I'd heard great things about them. To my disappointment the woman (I assume the owner) was extremely extremely rude. I'm also not sure how they get high reviews for being Celiac friendly. She told me her 3 grandkids all have Celiac so of course I had high expectations. When we first walked in, she was eating from a pan even while we continued to stand at the counter. She proceeded to make the GF pizza without gloves nor washing her hands. She wiped her face with the side of her hand never washing her hands. I am greatly disappointed in the experience because I thought I had found a "safe" restaurant in the area. I will never ever go back there again. I never write reviews but the negative experience compelled me to write one. My true rating is 0 stars.
River Edge Pizza has been the BEST gluten-free find for my husband and I. We have been gluten free since 1999 when I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I am usually hesitant to try new places because of what we have been through over the years. My diet is one thing that I can control in my life and for my health. I had read an amazing review online and I wandered in to check it out. After talking with Francine and Robert, I felt so comfortable that I left with enough food to last us for a few days. It was AMAZING! We were hooked! We have loved everything that we’ve tried – the food is fabulous! There are so many gluten free options! Francine and Robert are so sweet, dedicated to their customers, careful with dietary needs, and really are just wonderful. Thank you, Francine & Robert. We LOVE River Edge Kitchen!!!
Excellent food, the best eggplant rollatini, rice balls, and chicken parm. Absolutely amazing.
very accommodating!!! my daughter felt fine after soup and pasta.
I've been there many times. Owner very knowledgeable and careful about cross contamination. Staff is always super friendly. Always delicious always truly gluten free.
Really friendly! Delicious rice balls and warm bread!!!
I am severely allergic to gluten (I get symptoms in about 20 mins) and have never gotten sick here. Best Italian food I've ever eaten and the owners are so friendly and amazing. Would eat here every day of my life if I lived closer.
The gluten free food here is absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back!
Amazing GF food and super friendly staff. Very knowledgeable about Celiac. Will def be going back soon!
I can't say enough good things about this place!! Francine is a sweetheart and made me what I wanted even though it was off menu! I highly recommend the rice balls !
I have yet to find a place that is more "celiac-friendly" than this one. There are MANY gluten free options (in fact, almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free), and everything is made fresh and very carefully, and I know how dedicated they are to making their food GF safe and delicious. The GF bread is especially awesome - well worth the trip just for that alone. (I don't know what planet some of these complainers come from - maybe they went to some other place and left their reviews here by mistake?) I wish all restaurants were as good at GF as they are - - -
Absolutely love this place. The owners are so nice and the food is always amazing. Gluten free garlic bread and calamari are my favorites! Meatballs are great too.
Taryn you are full of ****! I love making gluten free food and would never do what you said! I would rather feed my gluten free people more than anyone so you and your stupid review can go to hell! And mike? You are way too needy! You think your stupid review on yelp matter? Idiot! Sorry to vent but I am so sick of morons hiding behind the their computers and writing whatever they please while people who work their asses off to please them are defenseless. Well no more! My customers know how much I care and you others are missing out Joi ??? Are you freaken kidding me???? I pay over $4 for that crust alone!! Options? Idiot!!! Meatballs fried everything pasta heros ravioli ect...... Stay home and feed yourself
The service was great; however, they don't make many gluten-free options other than the pizza and some super amazing rice balls. The pizza is way overpriced for the size. Might as well buy a frozen GF pizza from the supermarket.
I found the owner to be extremely helpful and sweet. It was my first time ordering, and she was sure to let me know about other gluten free options that were available. I will definitely be coming back 😊
I ordered in a few months ago and the woman who took my order was VERY rude. I am pretty sure she was the owner. She gave me an attitude when I asked her to make my order GF. I told her I was not going to order from her anymore because of her attitude--she had no problem with that and hung up abruptly The GF options are actually pretty good but I do not think I could ever stand to order from there again.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant. I visited the restaurant for the first time today and I was traveling to the area for business and I was more than happy with my experience. I had the chicken parm sandwich and I am always worried that a lack of gluten will also mean a lack of taste but I could have sworn I was eating a 'normal' chicken parm. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Robert who made me feel more than comfortable eating there, I felt right at home and safe about the food I was eating. I live over an hour away but I will be back very soon. Also, I didn't have any reaction at all, safe for celiacs!
This review is purely based on a phone call to this establishment last week on Saturday 7/11. I simply asked to confirm what items/ingredients are put onto 2 sandwiches and the lady rudely stated something like, "I don't have time to go through our entire menu. We are very busy right now so feel free to come here to look at the menu." They must be doing very well if they talk to people like this so maybe their food is ok. Needless to say I will never order from them and I will make sure to spread the word about their rude service.
Bar non, the best gf Italian food outside of NYC. Fried calamari, meatballs, sandwiches, dinners, pizza, etc. It's a tiny pizzeria, nothing fancy, only 4 tables, food served in to go tins but it's so good. Try the tagliatelle... its like buttuh! The owners are very friendly and will bend over backwards to make your meal great.
I had a wonderful experience today at River Edge Pizza Kitchen. The gluten free eggplant roll atine and gluten free garlic bread were absolutely delicious and prepared with high quality ingredients- I will return again to try some of the other entrees - well worth the trip !!!!
Great GF pizza! I had to stop myself from eating the entire pie in in sitting. Very friendly staff. I will definitely be back to try some of their GF pasta dishes.
Wonderful food! Wonderful service! I eat here every chance I get! It's so nice to have gluten free & dairy free options! The meatball parm sub and the shrimp parm subs are my favorites! Fyi, they use daiya cheese and schar bread.
Really great food and friendly owners.
I love this place! Francine is very nice and helpful. She spends a good portion of time asking me how i am and how i like the food. She uses a great deal of organic ingredients. The food is fresh and great. I wish i could come here more but recently have been having financial problems. Everyone should go here and support this fine establishment. The food is awesome and i am diagnosised celiacs and have never had any problems from eating here!
Just ate there, it was really good! Will definitely go back. Thin crust- very good. Service was nice.
I threw out the pizza - worst GF pizza ever and they charged over their listed price. Never again.
Love this place! I'm currently on a mostly dairy-free, gluten-free diet for weight loss and psoriasis management but I was craving pizza. Thank god for their veggie gluten-free pizza with vegan cheese! They were super friendly and we chatted about nutrition and health the whole time my pizza was in the oven. She even gave me tips for other foods and drinks I should try on my diet! The food hit the spot and I will definitely be coming back here. 😋
Great food, great friendly service. Loved the meatballs, chicken cacciatore, garlic bread and eggplant rollatini--all gluten-free!
I feel like I went to a completely different place than what all these reviews say, but it was certainly river edge pizza kitchen! I got very sick after eating here on top of the staff being rude & unhelpful. :( it's sad because several friends told me this place was so good and the staff was nice. I won't be back.
Today was my first visit and I was so taken back by the smiles and service. I'm so happy I used the GF app to find this place because the GF pizza was delicious! I almost cried.
Francine is up front and will tell you exactly how it is. She makes recommendations that are helpful. Her family members are gluten free so she understands the severity of the allergy. Calamari is amazing and the chicken franchese is great as well. Cant forget chocolate cake!!! Saw this on here and I'm glad I came. Next time I'm in town I'll have to come back!
The most amazing fried calamari I've ever had and it was gluten free! Delicious eggplant parm as well. Plus Francine is an absolute doll. I would highly recommend it's a gluten free paradise :)
As someone who not only suffers from Fibromyalgia but also has an intolerance to gluten, it's a joy to eat foods like Pizza and Fried Calamari without feeling full and sick with migraines and body pain afterward. Not only is the food absolutely delicious (you won't notice the lack of gluten), but the chef and all who work there are wonderful people who treat you like family. Whether you can eat gluten or not, head over and enjoy all their menu has to offer!
GF ravioli! awesome!
fantastic. just ask for a GF meal and let the owners surprise you! small seating area but meatballs are awesome.
The BEST food EVER!! Homemade soups!! Amazing salads!! Hard to find items like Gluten Free Eggplant Rollatine and Gluten Free Chicken Parm. They also offer Vegan cheese!!
What a great find - this wonderful family and celiac friendly place feels like home and for this chef, great food and quality GF options is very personal and serious. Go and love it!
Awesome place! Gluten free calamari is amazing and so is their gluten free pizza!
The best gluten free food around. Business owner has celiac family so she is extra careful. Ingredients are imported from Italy--and so is the chef! Doesn't taste subpar like most gluten free options, I can't eat any other gluten free pizza now because nothing else compares.
Had lunch here today after friends posted about it on Facebook. I have been craving pasta since I went gluten free 2 months ago and haven't found anything to satisfy it, until today! You really can't tell that the pasta is gluten free... It tastes sooo good! I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!!
I discovered this place after going to a local celiac support group meeting. They are so well prepared for people who have Celiac disease and are fully aware of how to safely prepare food. Being on the younger side its amazing to have a place I can finally go with my friends and trust that the food I eat will be gluten free! Plus the staff and owner are some of the sweetest people I have ever met! Definitely would recommend to anyone!
The owner and chef has three grandchildren that have celiac disease so she is more than knowledgeable about the gluten free diet and cross-contamination. She gets the gluten free pasta from Italy and it is delicious, can't tell the difference between that and regular pasta. The GF menu is larger than any other pizza place I know. You can get meatball and chicken parm subs. The fried calamari is always GF and delicious. The garlic bread is so good it makes my two sons with celiac disease very happy. We love it there!
This is the jackpot for GF Italian dishes. The pizza is thin, crispy & the sauce makes it extra delicious. Then we had GF eggplant parmesan in a light corn starch breading. The eggplant was ontop of full flavor pasta. Again the sauce brought the dish all together. The owner is knowledgable about GF, due to her grandson having celiac. She has a great welcoming energy and makes you feel at home. THIS is the place to eat!!
