We’ve eaten there a couple times, this last time my husband most likely got gluten. Unfortunately they brought out his meal with hush puppies on there after we expressed to them that he and our daughter are celiacs. Of course he ordered one of the most expensive plates on the menu (the crab/ seafood boil). He sent it back explaining that they needed to make a fresh plate and it couldn’t be the prior food because he is celiacs. The person quickly brought out the food and we asked if it was new food because it can’t come in contact with gluten. She said yes it was. I had my doubts but since we’d eaten there twice before my husband felt okay going for it. Unfortunately my daughter’s food must have also come in contact with gluten at some point because she felt a little sick as well. However my husband has been sick since about 1hr after eating and all day today. This will no longer be a place we will eat due to what we feel was their blatant disregard for the safety of our family. We do understand going out to eat is a risk, but I would skip this one in the future.
I ate there twice this week! The waiter and staff were knowledgeable about gluten and they have a gluten free menu. I had the Mango Mahi with fresh vegetables and the cucumber tomato salad one night and the Key Lime Chicken and Shrimp another night. The weather was nice and we sat outside both nights. I highly recommend this place.
I was unimpressed. They have a “gluten-friendly” menu. There’s a decent amount of variety, but honestly it didn’t taste very good. We got the River bluff combo, with scallops, shrimp, and fish. I’m not sure what type of fish it was, but it was all lacking in flavor. I would pick Hull’s over River Grille any day.
I asked for a gluten free menu & I asked the server a few questions. She was very helpful. She said they have a seperate gluten free fryer for their fries. I ordered grilled salmon, fries, & instead of coleslaw I asked for a side salad (which was a little bit of an up charge) with ranch. The food was delicious!! We sat outside & enjoyed the view. I experienced no issues at all & I can't wait to go again when back in the area.
Went today with a large group. I was the only one who ordered gluten free. I loved they have a gluten free menu and it had a really nice selection. I had the Florida Reuben on a gluten free bun. The bun had a slight chew to it, nothing out of the ordinary for gluten free. It was very tasty. I will be going back!
Finally- a place with a dedicated gf fryer! And a large menu. Hubby ate well and was pretty happy with no ill after effects. He had wings, scallops, coleslaw and fries. I had the nutty cheesy salad with grilled chicken (I’m not gf but I think the salad is). That is my go to. I have pics of the broad menu but don’t see a way to post.
They have a gluten free menu, front and back, lots of options. Have a dedicated fryer for GF fries. But says sometimes other things to be fried fall into that fryer from intended for an adjacent fryer? There are good options. Also a very nice boardwalk and outdoor seating areas. Great idea to ask a lot of questions.
No GF menu. The waitress seemed familiar with what was GF but said their seasoning was not GF. I ordered the scallops and was prepared for it to be very bland but they were good. I asked for extra lemons. I had the smashed sweet potatoes and broccoli without the teriyaki sauce. My husband had the combo plate and said it was very good. (Not GF).
I was hopeful that my son and I could find something safe to eat there. Unfortunately not. While our waitress was very helpful, my son was sick within an hour of eating a burger with no bun and mashed sweet potatoes. And it look us an hour to get our mediocre food. Beautiful setting and kind waitress but won’t be visiting there again.
I don’t have a enough good things to say about this place! When I called, the first person I spoke with knew immediately what my concerns were with Celiac and didn’t need to consult a menu. He assured me that as long as I inform my server they can ensure my food is cooked separately to avoid cross contamination. While the menu options are more limited, there were plenty of fresh seafood to eat, and they were happy to sub a garden salad for my side. My waitress was very cautious and double checked with the kitchen after my order to confirm what I could have, including the salad dressing. The location is also adorable and right on the river, and has many specials for most days of the week. If you’re looking for a spot safe for Celiac, I would highly recommend!
