Nothing on the menu is marked gluten free, so I had to ask clarifying questions and the waitress got so snippy with me. Their separate gluten free fryer was down. But at least my hotdog didn’t make me sick

I go a few times a year and have not gotten sick once (and I get extra fries sometimes.) I am super sensitive and not once had a problem.

I’m here a couple times a month for trivia and I’ve never been sick! The waitresses are always very helpful— just make sure to let them know you need your fries GF in addition to the hot dogs.

My daughter and I both got sick there and I'm not sensitive at all! Rumour has it that they were telling people they had a dedicated fryer when they didn't. (We didn't order anything that was fried.) Quite disappointed as we were regulars there before being diagnosed. Update - tried them again and didn’t get sick! Was reassured that they now have a dedicated fryer, but they only use it when asked and it has to warm up, so they don’t always want to do it. Not much you can get being Celiac, but it’s something.

Their gluten free hot dog buns are really good! Make sure you tell the server that you need gluten free fries as well! One would think gluten free bun = gluten free sides, however I’ve had cross-contaminated fries a few times because I didn’t specifically say that I needed GF fries made in their GF fryer.

I orders a gluten free bun and fries. The waitress asked, without promting, if I needed the fries gluten free. They have a gluten free fryer.
Before my food came out the waitress came out and explained that one of the cooks accidentally placed the curleyfries from the share fryer on my plate. She asked if I needed a new burger or if they could serve me this one if they removed the fries. I told them I am only gluten sensitive and this would be okay. The manager did come out to confirm as well.
I am not used to seeing this level of knowledge when I go out and this was very refreshing. Staff was more than happy to check that specific menu items when gluten free as well.
GF options for hotdog and burger buns. The bbq sauce was GF as well.

The chili dog basket was excellent! They do have a dedicated fryer for the fries. The servers are always very knowledgeable. The owner came and explained things to me also the first time I went.

I am Celiac and eat here often. The Corner Bar has a dedicated fryer as well as GF buns for hotdogs and burgers. The chili they put on their hotdogs can also be ordered GF. Haven’t had any issue when eating here. Highly recommend you check it out. I will say that the list of items available for Celiacs isn’t long but it’s another place to eat North of GR that’s safe.
When it was up, the hotdogs were amazing! But sadly, it burned down and nobody can go there any more.
Yes
Dedicated fryer, GF chili sauce, and GF hot dogs buns. The food is really good!! And the server was really awesome and knowledgable.

no dedicated gf fryer

The dedicated fryer is back!!! Thank u corner bar. We love the fries
Yes
They no longer have a dedicated frier. The GF buns were cool and soggy like they just threw frozen buns in the microwave. they charge 2$ extra for each bun. Not worth the money and limited menu.
Not a whole lot of options. But it is a hot dog bar. And you can get dogs with a good gluten free bun. And fries out of a dedicated fryer. Can't ask for more. Knowledgeable and aware of Celiac. My daughter appreciated that she could eat there after years and so did I.
Yes
My daughter is celiac and they are great. Separate fryer. Gf free buns!

The Corner Bar is a staple in Rockford. They offer gf chili dogs WITH a bun (For a $2.00 up charge) along with fries in a dedicated fryer. I'm sure they has other gf options as well. The gf buns are mentioned in a box in the regular menu. My only complaint is the $2.00 charge for a gf bun, it seems pretty excessive to me and will prevent family from eating there often.
