Food is really good - GF marked on the menu. Queso! Dedicated fryer (free chips and salsa)! The service was almost non-existent and we had to flag someone down any time we needed anything at all. And this was at 2:30/3 pm, not rush. We were also charged double for taco Tuesday instead of the stated price of half off all tacos. I’m willing to give it another shot because of how good it was.

Ate here twice on my trip - I used to live in New York and would frequent this place before I was diagnosed. I was so happy to know I could still enjoy it. I had the Birria Quesatacos - to die for - guacamole, sweet corn esquites, and flan. If you’re a fan of street corn, the sweet corn esquites was delicious! Good service and fun vibes all around.

The food was amazing but although they promised everything would be gluten-free I had a big reaction that lasted for two days. Must have been more than just a little cross contamination. Please be careful.

Amazing food! The amount of gluten free food from the appetizers to desserts is astounding!! I was so happy to eat and feel like a “regular” normal person. If you have a moment and love Mexican food, definitely go there.

Great experience here! I ordered delivery takeout, and got the Budin with vegetables entree and the guacamole and chips starter. I labeled both items as celiac/gluten free with my delivery. The food was great and I didn’t get sick! Would eat here again. Only complaint is the gluten free labels are not consistent between the online menu and the Grubhub menu, but I ordered items that were labeled gluten free on both to be safe.

Really delicious corn based tacos and chips that they assured were prepared separately away from gluten containing items. No cross contamination issues!

I had a wonderful experience ordering online from here. I was able to write a note saying I had Celiac disease and needed everything to be gluten free. Once I placed the order, the chef from the restaurant called me to tell me that she would take all necessary precautions. She told me cross contamination was limited (they have a dedicated gf fryer to their chips and tortillas). They included a handwritten note that specified that my meal was 100% gluten free. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others!

Safe for celiacs. There are many gluten free dishes which are not listed as such on the online menu. The chips and salsa are safe too. You need to make a reservation if you’re going before curtain time

Wonderful, safe food! Items clearly marked on the menu as GF and the waiter explained to me how the chips are fried with just canola oil in a separate fryer. I had the portabella tacos and a margarita and it was absolutely delicious and inexpensive for NYC! Absolutely would return.

I’m gluten and Dairy Free. After looking for dairy free on this app, this restaurant came up. The menu is clearly marked for gluten free, but not for dairy. And although they list the ingredients, they don’t always list dairy. I asked for no cheese on the main meal but didn’t know the zucchini noodles and beans and rice would have cheese on them. When our meal came everything had cheese on it and they told us they could not make that meal without the cheese. So I asked for the menu again and the waiter shook his head walking away. We re-ordered making sure there was no cheese. There were only about 3 options. I will give them points because the manager personally came to our table, explained what happened, and made sure our food was good to go and had the kitchen rush it out. It was very good in the end. Just some miscommunication.
Very knowledgeable staff. Excellent food.

Excellent food. We had the chips and salsa with queso (that would have we enough for a meal) but I also got the chicken fajita and they were great! Celiac and so reaction yet.

Delicious! I had the enchiladas and took one of my friends’ tacos. Really good! Neat atmosphere! Oh and the coconut cocktail was amazing!
As someone w Celiac Disease, eating out requires homework, and a great server who understands dietary restrictions, and will communicate w the chef. Mine was perfect. All food was served properly, and he assure me that all were gluten free. Rosa Mexicano delivered true gluten free (no criss contamination) entrees that made me feel like a normal diner.
I have celiacs and have not ever gotten sick here!
Great GF options and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable..The flavors are clean and fresh..

I’ve eaten here several times in the past few months and have gotten so sick each time. I went back thinking maybe it was something else, giving them another chance, but now know it was most definitely the food.

As a person who loves Mexican food, I can confidently say that Rosa Mexicano is one of the BEST Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been too! Their table side guacamole was incredible and the menu is labeled with what is gluten free and the staff is very knowledgeable. HIGHLY recommend visiting.

Menu has all GF option indicated clearly. Had a delicious meal ... ceviche on a hot summer night. Their sorbet was out of this world. Very helpful waitstaff.

Excellent upscale Mexican food, try the fish tacos. Eaten here many times, servers always very helpful.

Flavorful and safe!! The employees didn't bat an eye at gluten free and even assured us that certain tortillas and chips were made from corn, not gluten. This is delicious AUTHENTIC Mexican food! You have to try their guacamole salsa- it goes from a whole avocado and toppings to an amazing salsa right before your eyes! Even the shy ones with the green salsa in our party were addicted. It was so good that I hope to make a similar recipe at home! Rosa Mexicano is a celiac safe feast!
Although I'm confident it's not gluten making me sick here- it's all the fatty sauces, I just can't understand why anyone likes this place. I live so close, it would be the easiest place to meet people and enjoy dinner. But no matter what GF dish I order, I can't eat but a few bites before the fat is separating on the dish and I'm grossed out. So in a pinch I would go here because it's celiac safe but the food is sooo overpriced even as a New Yorker who loves her food and is willing to pay for it.
Yes
Be careful! The GF menu has items with the same exact names as the non-GF menu. I ordered from the GF menu, but they brought me something battered and fried; they agreed it was full of gluten, and the GF version was supposed to be roasted, not fried. We're not sure at what point the mistake was made, so take extra precaution when ordering.
I also advised them to name the GF version "roasted..." and the regular "fried..." on the respective menus to avoid confusion, but a glance at the menu recently showed they didn't take my suggestion.

Tasty guacamole was made fresh. Waiter was knowledgeable about our celiac requirements. Great food!

I ordered the chips and table guacamole because they said they were fried in a separate fryer. I also had a patron silver margarita and the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. By the time the check came I was in pain. So, not sure what did it. Maybe just CC. But, it's really a shame.

I have had many Excellent GF meals. Top quality Mexican food (not The usual Americanized stuff). High end ingredients, service, decor, and price.

good food and extra careful the waiter even went to check the bag of cheese to make sure there was no flour in it. it had potato flour as anti caking agent. very accomodating
Good GF menu get the GF flautas really good and you have to try the guacamole!!!

AMAZING HIGH QUALITY MEXICAN REAL AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS OUT OF THIS WORLD! EXPENSIVE BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT! THE BEST IS THE FROZEN MARGARITAS!!
My favorite gluten free place. It's always books so go in advance. I'm a super sensitive celiac and I've never gotten sick from them. Mexican food is naturally gluten friendly. Not sure what other reviewer is talking about with pasta water Bc rosa doesn't serve pasta. I'd highly recommend
They have a large gluten free menu but according to our waiter, they take no precautions in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. No cleaning of the prep area, GF pasta cooked in water used to cook conventional pasta, etc. It may be a gluten-free menu in terms of ingredients, but that's only a partial consideration for celiacs. Great for marketing, unacceptable for celiac patients.
i had a great experience here! gf chips in a separate frier, most menu items are gf/can be modified to be gf! waitstaff was super helpful as well!

Mexican is a very convenient cuisine for celiacs so I was excited to give Rosa a try after my diagnosis. They have GF menus and information on line. Every store is unique though and you should always talk to them ahead of time. Our waitress assured me that the chips are cooked separate and on their own. The guac made table side is safe as well - just always ask them to use fresh utensils, gloves, and ingredients just in case. I always order the carne asada which comes with corn tortillas on the side but usually eat the dish without them regardless. Many other options to choose from!
