I asked about gluten free Arepas and the likelihood of cross contamination. The two staff members were fully aware and recommanded some options. I had the Arepa with beef and it was delicious! Portion unfortunately not that big.
I went there, because it was recommended as a totally gluten free restaurant. Therefore I didn't even ask about gluten when ordering, I know this is my fault and absolutely stupid, but I am writing that to make people aware, obviously they changed the menu. Of course I had the non gf meal and I can't remember to ever have had such a bad reaction. All of their dishes I tried were really great, so try them out, but ask for gluten!
This is my favourite gluten free Imbiss in Berlin. The Arepas and the bowls are so delicious, the owners know exactly what’s gluten free and what isn’t and they are super friendly.

They are no longer dedicated gluten free. They serve tequenos which are fried separately.

Unfortunately they added some non gluten-free "Fries" - they are using a dedicated frier for that. Since then, I always had problems afterwards - and I didn't even know for some time that they added those fries

I really enjoy this place, I like the atmosphere, also the amazing Arepas and the fries are delicious. Unfortunately I cant go there anymore. Since they added the non gluten-free thing in their menu (even tho they claim no cross contamination), I always feel bad after eating there. I already told them, but they didnt change anything.
So, unfortunately, I cant recommend Rubens anymore, even tho the people there were really nice.
I recommend the arepas and the yuca fries, everything is super delicious and beside one meal (tequeños made in separate fryer) everything is glutenfree and 100% safe.
Food is wonderful, absolutely delicious. Everything is gf aside from one dish which is prepared separately. Can't recommend enough!
Sehr gute Arepas. Das Maismehl, das sie dafür verwenden, ist als gf gekennzeichnet. Es gibt allerdings auf der Karte ein glutenhaltiges Gericht (tequenos) was zwar separat zubereitet wird, was jedoch auf der Karte nicht als "glutenhaltig" markiert ist, obwohl Allergene auf der Karte eigentlich gekennzeichneten sind. Deshalb am besten immer nochmal nachfragen, da man sich auf die Karte, was die Allergenkennzeichnung angeht, nicht verlassen kann.

Absolutely delicious arepas. Except for one item, the menu is completely gluten free (and that one item is cooked separately from all the other food). Super nice guy as well and good freshly made hot sauce.
We ate at Ruben’s twice in two days and loved it! Almost the whole menu is gluten free, so there are real options, and the three I tried are incredible. It’s a small place, but the owner-chef-manager knows about gluten and cooks his one gluten-containing item separate from the rest of the food. Great food. Amazing options. Ruben is kind and informed. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Fast alles glutenfrei, auch mit getrennte Fritteuse. Die vegane Arepa ist der Hammer!
I eat here regularly and so far had never issues (except feeling quite full, the arepas are very filling). they have one thing on the menu that‘s not gluten free. I never asked if they use the same frying oil for everything but simply skip everything fried
I was ill after eating here. I don't think the food deliberately contained gluten because I'm not THAT bad but they definitely didn't take precautions with cross contamination.
Loved the Tequenos (fried dumplings with cheese)!! Safe and delicious

Authentic? No idea, but very tasty. Freshly prepared and safe for celiacs. Good and safe recommendation for an original and tasty meal in between.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in 17 years of being a coeliac. Reasonably priced and quite filling. My non coeliac friends agreed that it was the nicest thing we’ve eaten in Berlin. Also enjoyed a home made lemonade drink that was so delicious and refreshing. Friendly staff and a cosy little takeaway shop. Utterly delicious.

SO DELICIOUS. Got an Arepa Veggie, and a Vegan Bowl. Everything was amazing.
Super tasty, knowledgeable staff. NOT everything is gluten-free, the Tequeños are NOT. But they are prepared separately.
Amazing arepas, super tasty and absolutely safe for coeliacs. No gluten in the ingredients and the staff are reassuring. Worth the trip, especially if you're around the East Wall Gallery. Amazing!

We asked one of the cooks and they said everything they offer is gluten free. We had arepas, they were good. They have beer but it's not gluten-free. Both takeout and deliver are available.
