Outstanding service (Nichole). We felt very comfortable that she was ensuring our food was clearly marked as gf. There was not a specific gf menu, but with gf buns, flatbread, and pasta, as well as fry batter, virtually everything could be made gf.

Ruddy Duck Tavern, so much GF food! We got the buffalo wings and the fried seafood platter.
I had read some reviews about them not having a dedicated fryer … this is partially true, but NO wheat products go in the fryer, it is all GF fried foods and their French Fries. I called about it last week, and then again confirmed when I got there today. I’m a celiac and can no longer even touch wheat products w/o rash blisters forming on my hands, much less eat anything CC.
Hope this review clears any one’s doubts.
(And no malt vinegar was consumed at our table, just brought w/rest of table’s food)

Just called and was told they use a shared fryer and do not have a separate prep area. The fact that they believe they are gf makes this a no-go for me. They clearly do not understand gluten free. Def not a gluten free option. This would be a “low gluten” restaurant but not for celiacs.

Fried flounder, fries and slaw. It was good. Honestly not amazing but I also got it to go so it wasn’t straight out of the kitchen by the time I got back to the hotel, which isn’t their fault. Definitely needed more seasoning. I’m from out of town and I always look forward to eating here because back home there is no where to get fried fish. I am SO APPRECIATIVE that they offer so many gluten free items. I will definitely return!!

I’ve eaten here several times with varying experiences. Today I was told that there is not a separate gf fryer as I had been told in the past but that they use a non transferable oil and shared fryer. Assured me it was Celiac safe. Nima detected gluten. Super disappointing. Ended up with grilled fish on gf bun which was tasty.

They have a list of the items that they can make gluten free. I enjoyed the filet. It was a good amount of food and was delicious and most importantly, it didn’t make me sick.

We asked the waitress four different ways. Her answers: yes, they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer. Nothing with gluten is fried in it. Yes, the restaurant only uses non transferable oil. However, she says the oil in the dedicated fryer has not seen gluten itself. They have GF pasta, GF buns, GF pizza crust. The food is delicious. Never had a problem with the GF fried fish dinner (with french fries prepared GF) — a hard to find plate. As usual, best to ask the manager about individual requests and preparation. Worth a detour.

Claimed to use “non-transferable” oil. They do not have a separate fryer. Menu is not labeled for GF items though they say “almost everything” can be made GF. We did not order anything fried. They use paper straws-unable to say whether they were GF so we avoided.

Server was very unaware of GF items. We had them double check about a dedicated fryer and were told they do not have one but use “non transferable “ oil. Whatever that means. I felt the menu was quite limited in truly safe options.

Great experience ordering take out! I got the GF fried shrimp platter, the crab and spinach dip with GF tortilla chips and a cheeseburger with a GF bun. Staff seemed very knowledgable and take out service was impeccable. I would have no hesitation eating here again and I’m celiac

No gluten-free Menu, but I was informed that any pasta or bread could be substituted with gluten free options, and they use rice flour and a separate fryer for gluten free fried foods I was also warned not to get jerk seasoning since they use soy sauce

Wonderful experience! Have GF breading and dedicated fryer. I don’t remember when I last had fried founder and sweet potato’s or when I enjoyed them more! My waiter, Gustavo, was amazing! I am allergic to gluten and a dozen other things. He cheerfully helped me find my perfect meal! This will be a new regular stop when we are in the area!

When I asked about a gluten free menu I was informed that the owner’s son has celiac so they are very aware of what precautions to take and that most items in the menu can be made completely gluten free. The oil in the dedicated fryer is non-transferable therefore no worries about fryer cross contamination either. I ordered a shrimp burger (fried shrimp and GF bun) with fries and it. was. amazing. My daughters shared a regular burger (GF bun) and fries and they left full and happy as well. We will eat here at least one more time before we go home from our vacation!

Before eating here, I came to inquire about gluten-free options. The hostess immediately starting speaking our language. She told us that everything that was on the menu could be made gluten-free. They had dedicated fryer, rolls, pasta, etc. So, I came back a week later to try them out. I was both excited and worried at the same time. The waitress that we had was amazing and knew everything about gluten-free options, and assured me that I would be fine. She was right on point. I had the best gluten-free pizza! I know, pizza, but I always start with "plain" options because I can't always eat the fancy meals. The waitress also told me that the meal my husband had ordered was also gluten-free so that I didn't have to worry about tasting his meal if I wanted. I didn't, but it was nice that she went out of her way to let me know I wouldn't get sick. It was such an awesome feeling to be able to order directly from the same menu that my husband was holding without feeling like an outcast. The food was amazing!!! We enjoyed ourselves so much, we returned a few days later with friends. Again, we were not disappointed. This time I ordered the burger with fries. I also have allergies to some of the old grains, so I emailed them ahead of time about the types of pasta and burger bun ingredients so I wouldn't have to make the waitress find out once we arrived. To my surprise, they responded within a short time and they answered all of my questions. My burger was awesome and my fries were too! I highly recommend this establishment for your gluten-free dining. Everyone we have encountered are just awesome, friendly people! The bonus is I had no illness whatsoever!

When I first sat down at the restaurant, I immediately asked the waitress about the gluten free options and had her get the manger. She explained to me that they have a dedicated gluten free fryer and gluten free buns (that are placed in a bag on the side to avoid cross contamination) so you can get almost anything on the menu. I ordered a cheeseburger on a gf bun with fries. When the food came out, the bun was on my burger and the manager immediately had it sent back and re made. It came out perfect a few minutes later. I have celiac and am very allergic to gluten and I did not get sick or have any issues and the food was delicious!

Would not recommend. They use a gluten free breaded but cook it in oil that is supposedly non transferable. I have celiac disease and do not think this is safe. Did not eat my meal

Ruddy Ducks has many gluten free options. They can make almost anything on their menu gluten free(fried chicken, fried fish, fried shrimp, pizza, etc). They are very aware of gluten, because their daughter has an allergy. We love their gluten free fried flounder and gluten free fried shrimp.
We went last night and it was great. The waiter was very confident and assured us that it was gf- my boyfriend has celiac. He had the fried shrimp platter and was in heaven. We also had the crab and spinach dip appetizer and it was pretty good.

I went in with high hopes! I got a Ruben on a gf bun. It came out so pretty. Too pretty. I asked again to be sure. She said it was gf. I took one bite, asked her again because it was just to good. She assured me again it was safe. I was miserable by the time I got home (10 minutes) and it has continued into today.

Most items can be made gluten-free. Ordered grilled mahi tacos with corn tortillas. Fish was over cooked but otherwise it was good!
Yes
Our family members who eat gluten, loved the food. The options for GF eaters were limited. The waitress kept going and asking the chef about options which was helpful but she herself wasn’t knowledgeable. I personally wouldn’t return (as a GFer).
DEDICATED FRYER. Another reviewer mentioned non transferable oil, which they do use, but they also confirmed to me that it was a completely separate fryer.
FRIED SEAFOOD people. It was good. Fries are phenomenal. Fried seafood could’ve been crispier but I still ate all of it!
Yes
Huge selection available! Pizza, pasta, fried seafood (rice batter), buns. Will be back over and over!
I had GF breaded fresh shrimp fried in a dedicated fryer and it was awesome! The tartar sauce is unique and delicious. They offer GF buns and breads.
Yes
Dinner was yummy. I wanted fish tacos and knowing how hard it is to find fish tacos that are not fried... they have grilled fresh Mahi fish tacos on homemade corn tortillas. If you sit outside the music is quiet and the view is amazing! The service was great too! They have call ahead, would recommend because they are in a busy spot. Will definitely visit again.
Sadly they do not have a dedicated fryer. They use a shared fryer with “non-transferable” oil. Regardless the fried food is not safe for Celiacs. Stick with a salad or sandwich with gf bread.
No
Very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Dedicated fryer. Delicious fried seafood. And the owner came back to check & make sure that everything was well taken care of. Super nice staff! Such a great dinner that we will be going back tomorrow before we leave town.
The staff were knowledgeable and able to tell me what was safe to eat. I loved the gluten free calamari. The rice noodles were very good as well.
Great food, was shocked that I could get fried seafood from a dedicated fryer.
Yes
Nothing but good things to say. Good service and very delicious food. They can make nearly everything on the menu gluten free. A wonderful experience after years of not being able to have fried seafood. I am a real foodie and appreciate good food and this place knows how to make tasty food. I actually ate there about three months ago and I am planning a trip to the beach this weekend and excited to go back. I was searching to see if other gf restaurants were in the area when I ran across these reviews. After reading a couple negative reviews from last year I HAD to give my review. Those couple of reviews had to either been a rare fluke but I just couldn't imagine anything but the best food and good service. Trust me, you won't regret going here.
Yes
I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant! They have a great variety of gf options. I was most excited that they have gf batter to do fried seafood. I have not had fried seafood in a long time and was excited to be able to eat some that would not bother me, since it's gf. I got the fried shrimp burger, as they also have gf buns. It tasted really good! I plan to return one day and think next time I'll try the gf fried shrimp basket.
I have Celiac and am very sensitive, and I highly recommend Ruddy Duck. There are many more GF options than are marked on the menu, including a great GF bun and a dedicated fryer for French fries and other fried foods made with a special Gf batter. I had a cheeseburger and fries, and a fried shrimp burger with fries. It was so good that we came back again a second night! Our server, Lynn, was very knowledgeable and helpful in making sure I knew my options and that my food was safe.

Lots of options! I had the shrimp burger with gf batter on a gf bun.
Yes
They have gf batter and can do gf fried fish and shrimp baskets! The gf fried shrimp are awesome! They also have great gf pizzas (but not sure if these are cooked separately to avoid cross contamination).
Had a great lunch here for the whole family including one with celiac. Numerous GF items noted in the main menu, and many others available in GF versions as well, including pizza and GF rolls for burgers and other sandwiches. Our waitress was GF knowledgeable and explained it all, and even the server bringing out the meals noted the GF roll with the burger. Fries have a dedicated fryer and were excellent as was all the other food. Service was great even with a holiday weekend rush. We could not have asked for more and will definitely be back.
Yes
This place is a GF heaven. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about which items were GF and almost every item on the menu can be made GF. I had the nachos, veggie burger w GF bun and French fries. Delicious!
Most items can be made gluten free. They have a dedicated fryer for their fries. Gluten free buns and no upcharge. If you order anything battered, they have a gluten free batter. I had my first gluten free fried calamari and it was great. I had a Just Fish sandwich with fried flounder (gf). Food was great and I did not get sick. Staff knowledgeable and friendly.
Yes
Huge portions, just about the whole menu can be made GF (just ask).
Yes
I live in the area and this is my biggest go-to place for good food! I always get the loaded nachos as my entree and have never been let down yet. Or have I gotten sick. They also offer a banana cream pie that is also GF. It's so tasty and I always get a piece to go as long as it's not sold out. I highly recommend!
