This place is located on a beautiful historic street in St. Charles. If you go, plan for a walk around too. The food is spectacular! We had the brisket, coleslaw, potato salad, beans and chocolate ice cream for dessert. Each item we ate was melt in your mouth, flavourful deliciousness!! We suggest you visit if you are anywhere near this super cool place!

Had a pretty great experience with Salt and Smoke last night! No reaction since I ate. We ordered takeout to our hotel and got the besties plate with 4 meats and 2 sides, plus an additional side. We got brisket, chicken wings, pulled chicken, and ribs, then fries, potato salad, and beans. The beans were a little mushy for my preference and my boyfriend said the ribs were just okay. But oh man, those wings and the brisket! So so good. I also really liked the seasoning on the fries and potato salad. The staff was super nice over the phone when I had questions, but I was disappointed that I marked Gluten Allergy on all items and they still put a popover in our bag. Thankfully it was wrapped separately and my boyfriend ate it since he's not GF.

A neat and friendly place with a GF menu. The server was quite knowledgeable and told us which sauces are gf and which ones to avoid. Dedicated fryer for fries. We had chicken burger and the gf bun was decent. No issues at all after eating .

One of the safest experiences I’ve had! I do not believe they have a gf fryer- but I could be wrong! I told them I had an allergy and their gluten free buns are also vegan! I got the pulled pork on the gluten free bun, no coleslaw, extra pickles, with fries and used their sweet bbq sauce! So so good! The bun is amazing (for someone that needs an egg free and gluten free bun).

The food is delicious and I love hat they have a gluten free menu. They have gluten free buns, which is nice. I just prefer not to have a bun (anywhere).

GF menu clearly marked and all sauces and meats gluten free when I asked. Wait staff are very knowledgeable and everyone knew what was going on as far as the GF stuff. Food was delicious but I must have been cross contaminated somehow, possibly by my own fault. I would still recommend this to other Celiac's but exercise regular caution

Their online menu clearly explains all allergens. GF buns are not the best I’ve ever had but it was nice to have a safe option to eat lunch. I’m dairy free as well and they did not screw up my order when I asked for no butter on the bun as so often happens.

The outdoor seating ambiance and food options are what I would rave about. I’m had the pulled pork sandwich and fries. They have a gf bun and a separate fryer for the fries. The food was okay, not bad but not great either. The rest of our table (not gf) said the same thing.

Good, but pricy, bbq. The last time I got a sandwich the bun was half frozen, but that was a one off issue.

All three of us ordered gluten free items, and all three items came out incorrect. They put fried and breaded onions (not gf) on a bbq sandwich. I asked for no bun for my burger (due to grain sensitivity), and it came out with a bun. The other sandwich was ordered with a gf bun and came out with nothing.

Gluten Free menu, and server noted the menu when he took my daughter's order. She loved the food, and it didn't make her sick. Great service despite being super busy.
Yes
They had a "gluten free/allergen" menu upon request, in addition to the regular menu with the starred items, but it was very misleading and not truly GF. For example, the fries were listed on it but when asked about cross contamination they said the same fryer is used for everything. The waiter did listen to concerns, answered questions, and annotated allergies on the ticket. None of the bbq sauce seemed to be GF. Pulled pork was very flavorful but a bit greasy, had a lot of fat served with it (and a bone fragment or two), and some bites were overly salty.
No
I had good luck with this location in the past, but when I went there last week, they no longer had a gluten free menu, but instead starred “gluten friendly” items, which includes items fried in a shared fryer. Most of the meat I was served was pure fat. They did correct the problem and brought out a new plate of meat. However, I did end up getting (gluten) sick soon after eating there, even though I communicated I have celiac. I am sad I will not eat there anymore because it’s a nice place to sit outside.
Great food! Separate gluten free menu with stars next to the food that share a fryer with gluten products. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend if you love BBQ. The salt and smoke cocktail was delicious as well!

Love their bbq. Glutenberg beer offered.
