I got a peanut butter brittle flavor— so good!

This place was so lovely!!! They got it immediately, let me try three (3!) flavors (they offered even after I was like “no that’s so much trouble”) from new pints, and then scooped mine in the back from the new pint. They were so understanding. After a tough week on a work trip and feeling left out a lot, this was such a lovely and affirming experience. And there vegan flavors (coconut base) are so so good; perfect for us celiac babes who have become lactose intolerant as well. Only a few flavors had gluten, so there are plenty of options. I will be returning here every time I’m in Portland.

They ask everyone about dietary needs and if you say gluten they will ask if cross contamination is a concern. If you say yes, then they will go to the back and scoop out of an contaminated carton. The guy who scooped my ice cream asked all of these questions unprompted and got me some contaminated ice cream with a smile on his face. He even thanked me for my patience. Wow! So nice to not feel like a burden!!

Salt & Straw has such unique ice cream flavors and most of them are gluten free. The staff can scoop your ice cream from unopened containers in the back to avoid cross contamination. You can get samples from the back as well.

Great experience- the staff is very knowledgable and they go out of their way to avoid cross contamination, serving from new pints instead of the communal (and cone crust filled) tubs. Most of their flavors were GF

Worth the wait, time, and money! It's worth trying, excellent find. I didn't have to wait that long in line. Ice cream was out of this world delicious! You will not be disappointed if you try it!! There were several GF options, just couldn't have waffle cone but with ice cream that good you don't need a cone. 5 Stars!!

Really fun and interesting flavors! be prepared for long lines, but it's worth it. staff were knowledgeable about cross contamination, and I had no issues.

The people working here are super helpful. They will scoop your ice cream in the back to avoid cross contamination. Even the samples can be scooped in the back. Only downside is the long line.

I had such a good experience here!! The staff washed hands, used clean scoops, and opened new pints for me to sample ice cream with, and then to fill my cup of ice cream. Super knowledgeable about GF (including cross contamination) and the ice cream was delicious!

They have their allergens listed on their website for each flavor! I told them I had a gluten allergy and she went to get a fresh scoop from the back to prevent cross contamination!

I was able to look online ahead of time to see ingredient lists. I confirmed with the server inside that the flavor I wanted was gluten free, he was pretty informative and knew the product. He did scoop from same tub as everyone else's ice cream.

Salt & Straw takes allergens pretty seriously, this was yet another successful experience at one of their locations. Long line but it moved quickly.

Upon ordering simply mentioned celiac/gluten 'allergy' - I knew what I wanted was GF before I arrived, half honey lavender half strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. My sever wanted to double check anyway on his allergen list which I appreciated. He asked if he could make the rest of my parties ice cream then would do mine in the back from unopened containers/clean scoop. It took quite some time so I have faith their implemented allergen procedures were followed. Ice cream was excellent, especially the strawberry my favorite! Many GF options available!

So many ice cream places will not accommodate me on getting ice cream from clean containers in the back so I really appreciate Salt & Straw making this easy at any location. Training goes a long way and it shows!
